Madoka's the one who saved her (in multiple senses, at multiple times). They all died in her original timeline, but Madoka was the only one she had a giant girl-crush on. Over dozens or hundreds of Groundhog Day loops, that easily morphs into obsession.

You'll note that she starts out trying to save all of them. She gives up on the rest only gradually. She's on the cusp of finally, finally giving up on Madoka, too, when Madoka steps in to save here that one final time. We're seeing the sail end of a very long process - I'd say somewhere between five and a few hundred subjective years..
