    Meh this is a silly complaint someone in medieval France saying “ok” is not going to break immersion. It’s just not practical to have people in period dramas speak archaic languages, I mean I doubt most audiences can understand anient languages either 12th. Centuries French or Latin.

    Wouldn’t that only apply if they were their own citizens? If the settlers declare independence and renounce their former citizenship and the nation accepts it then they can just claim it’s another country.

    The way to avoid that is to give full independence to any colonies that way you won’t be dragged into protecting them. I’m sure quite a few nations would see the benefit of having both a social release valve and back ups in case earth is wiped out.
