Honestly we can, uh, probably skip Forge Sacrament due to Forge name being able to be brought into the Malleary. And our wallet is already crying enough.

If we do though I'm kind of still partial to Personal Forge because it sounds like we can use it for bieddes duel. Meanwhile we don't have the budget for artifact crafting or the time for it to pay off.

Quick note.

I hope I am not raining on anyone's parade. But I don't want you to assume you can do both refinings on the same turn.

That is, if you create a Forge 4 reagent on one turn, don't expect to turn it into Forge 6 AND Blue Gold on the same turn.

I sounds doable from a mechanic perspective. But I actually would like for the process of turning Iotic Essence into radioactive material to take a full month, if you don't mind

So yeah. Assume you need a Forge 6 reagent at the beginning of a turn in order to pick the final refining option.

Math doesn't add up there. QM said we should have 623 Bits at the top of the turn, and that includes Rarity dividends. 623-438 (Joyous)-20 (Reagent)=165, which is 25 shy of the 190 Bits needed for refinement. Subtracting Biedde's price brings us to 105 Bits, which means we could make the Level 4 Reagent this turn, if we really wanted to.

Jade was supposed to formalize her "researcher" trait after completing A Memory of Light. But the Follower's Report had so much going on it slipped my mind.

So yeah. Please remind me of this later, but Jade can now study artifacts and be asked to research for new rituals. (Her studying artifacts won't yield you Lore scraps, and more on "Ritual researching" later, it won't be as straightforward as you think).

mh... you know, I'm not sure if I want this over the normal Forge Sacrament.

With a forge influence and Forge 6 artifact to help us, we'd get... something like +112 or so, with reroll? That's PROBABLY 2 actions total from Velvet (and 2 from the Name), and for only 100 bits.

then again, this one can't fail, and it's cheaper in actions. But I liked the potion idea. This one feels more about making artifacts instead. Maybe "mundane" artifacts for our followers to use? Or to sell, I suppose.

@OurLadyOfWires out of curiosity, I KNOW we can only get one Sacrament, but... how does that narratively work? Can we still make the workshop but we wouldn't be able to learn how to use it?

In any case, my guess at the two sacraments here is that

POTIONS: we can give further bonuses to ourselves and others by making consumable reagents boosting the pony. MAYBE only on others if it replaces their lore value with ours (so we can give someone else Forge 4, but we can't give MORE forge to ourselves).

WORKSHOP: we can make no-effect artifacts for other to use.

...wait, that seems very similar in effect... I'm missing something I think.

So, yes and no. The biggest problem with the GrailMoth combo is that you guys don't have the Moth scraps, and I can't guarantee you will get it in time.

But one thing at a time.

First
If you have Spoiled as a Confidante by the end of this turn, you will be allowed to promise Mareinette to Sacrament on Turn 23 in lieu of her rebinding price.

Second
If you reach the end of this turn with 4/4 Moth scraps, I will assume you will be able to Moth Sacrament on Turn 23.

Third
If you fulfill BOTH requirements at the same time, I will create a personalized action to make the combo-Sacrament more convenient on Turn 23. And, of course, you will be able to promise Mareinette as much.

But if by any chance you guys promise Mareinette to Sacrament, and come Turn 23 you don't pick the combo-Sacrament option, you will still be "forced" to at least pick the Grail Sacrament (because you promised as much).

Well, you won't be forced to do it. But the alternative is a slighted Name of Grail. Which I would allow you guys to walk into just because it sounds interesting. (But that's, uh, a path to possibly losing the quest).

I suppose we'd get a second chance at getting Spoiled as a confidant next turn right before the grail sacrifice if we somehow failed this turn? Failing the Moth Book with up to 6 attempts with a Lantern 4 influence is basically impossible.

That said I am kind of hoping that regardless of result Cadance would eventually be able to spare action to assist us. Maybe when she learns more about Lores and thus learns to work more effectively. Imagine how many bits Ruling Princess can acquire. And we know from Luna that Lore increase gives Alicorn many abilities. And Cadance lore advancement is automatic so it just matter of time. Would be nice to speed it up though.

The kid definitely is the product of her great love for Velvet Covers (taking into account all the money she has selflessly gifted). And her Lores are the most fitting match for the rite of rebirth-reforging.

Honestly, I'm also still leaning toward our personal. Even if the Forge Name's Sacrament is artifact crafting, it's probably still going to be prohibitively expensive to do so and we just... always have uses for bits.

Edit: I'm also leaning toward just getting the reagent from an expedition. Since the earliest we can make Blue Gold is T24 regardless if we make the reagent ourselves or find it, I'm inclined to go for the option that's most likely to cost less. That also leaves our reagent slot open on T23 if we want to go for our personal Sacrament. We won't be able to get it fully unless we find a spare Forge scrap somewhere or give up on the Edge Sacrament this turn though, I think.

Edit 2: I might go back to arguing for skipping the Edge Sacrament this turn in favor of progress on our Forge Sacrament... if we don't take a Forge lesson this turn, the earliest we could possibly get our Forge Sacrament is T25 I think, and I'm willing to bet that if we don't do the Edge Sacrament now we can find time to squeeze it in somewhere before T25. And if we want to scry a Forge 6 reagent instead of making it (offloading the AP burden onto our followers, effectively), then I don't think we have enough follower AP for two scries, Forge lesson, Lantern Influence, Honored Guest, +2 AP, an Edge Influence, and 2 additional AotLs

Considering we're on track to complete at least two (Moth + SH) Sacraments next turn, likely three (Grail), and potentially four (Forge) if we go for it, I don't think it's that big of a deal if we technically don't finish any this turn as long as we're making progress toward one (or several, as the case may be).

Edit: Though I guess maybe we can take out the third study action, if we don't need 190 bits on top of whatever the Level 7 expedition will cost... that would let us squeeze the Edge Sacrament back in without postponing the Forge Sacrament too much, maybe. Okay, so: if either Risen can do AotLs or AotLs aren't affected by the "Proud" trait, and if we only do two study actions, we should be able to both pick up a Forge scrap (letting us do Forge Sacrament on T23 or T24) and also do Edge Sacrament, alongside scrying the Level 7 book, a Level 6 Forge reagent, etc. Or if we're willing to run the risk of Rarity not being able to take a commission next turn; I guess we could mitigate that by leveling her up instead of socialing someone w/ our free social?

At the end of this turn she will ask for advance payment. It most likely would either be doing her sacrament or giving her artifact. Cadence vote does not really affect it?

If we pay artifact then she would still work for us the same way as usual. If we are doing her sacrament we befriend her and she can still go hang up with Cadance if she is so wishing.

Kind of? You can create Manuscripts for your own library under the usual mechanics. You can introduce one Lore to the Bureau per turn, and you can use your Commissioner Action to introduce a second Lore per turn.

Using your personal AP to introduce more Lores to the Bureau would get into the "overworking" territory I'd rather avoid. I feel you have too many personal concerns to go investing your free time in the Bureau, no?

You didn't pick the "show Cadance the healing ritual" option, and Velvet is already investing in Cadance on her own (read: without spending action points). So, none of that yet.

You introduced Cadance to the Lores, and a Name. Let that settle for a bit.

Yeah, sure.

Like I mentioned before, I was tinkering with AotL rules. But the only thing that came to mind is that only followers of a specific Lore can prepare AotL of said Lore. But you... just don't have enough followers for that to be anything other than an (unnecessary) hurdle.

I am not shy of creating mechanics that might hamper you guys for going "tall" instead of "wide". It's part of the game aspect of this quest.
But finniking over AotLs just felt so... like so much effort for something that can be streamlined, when we already have enough to worry about.

So yeah, I don't mind. One follower can do one AotL of any Lore, until we reach such a narrative barrier that will make me want to rethink this rule.
