Unironically one of the more compelling narratives to come out of TNO and infinitely more immersive than the mediocre "corporate" narrative (at least if I remember correctly. Dunno if they have retconned Pushkin's corporate dystopia as well since then) the devs tried to pass off as the "canon" outcome for Russia. Incidentally this is the biggest tragedy of TNO on the meta level; all the unique and compelling narratives and stories are erased and retconned out of the mod and worldbuilding (TNO was genuinely better off udner the human disaster that is PinkPanzer, in hindsight) to make room for plausibility cuckery and safe edgy bullshit that ends up being more implausible than the original material (I will never forgive them for killing Glenn's Mars Landing), not accounting for the initial SoD-requiring divergences. Kaiserreich has the same problem and it's killing that mod also.ALEXI LIVES!!!!!

It's heavily influenced by Hollywood, or whatever Happy Days and Family Matters count as, but I'm pretty sure it's just an adaptation of the older square versus hip dichotomy. With a side of zero-sum academic theory, the long-since discredited idea that extracurriculars reduce your academic potential instead of helping you.

Booger (Dudley Dawson) is marrying into a rich family, and some of them are trying to get rid of him... so they hire a hooker for his bachelor party and hide a camera in the room they told her to drag him to for sex. Then they show it, trying to discredit him, without watching it first.
And see Booger, the rudest, crudest, lewdest of the entire cast... have a serious discussion with the girl, telling her how much he loves his fiance... but also asking her to pretend they did something because he's kinda got a reputation with the guys he wants to keep. It's actually really sweet.

I'm currently playing through American McGee's Alice for the first time. And while the controls are a bit wonky and the melee combat kind of sucks, I'm actually enjoying it quite a bit. There's a certain appeal to this dark take on Alice in Wonderland, and I'm finding the video game much more immersive than any of the movies. (I've never read any of the books, although I think I've got an ebook of it somewhere, so I might take a look once I'm finished with this.)
The game itself isn't a reinterpretation of Alice in Wonderland, but a sequel of sorts, with Alice going catatonic after her parents died in a fire, and ending up in a Wonderland fractured by her own mental instabilities. The goal is to set Wonderland right and presumably fix Alice in the process.

What kind of exercise are you doing?
Personally, I never found an exercise I enjoyed until I tried climbing. Bouldering doesn't even need a buddy, although it helps to have someone to talk problems over with.

You ever get the inexplicable urge to clean out a random shelf or cupboard in your house?
Because I just had that. It's a good bit past midnight, and, for some reason, my brain thought it would be a good idea to de-clutter the small shelf next to my bed, that I use as basically my nightstand and just general small storage space to put books, phone chargers, meds, flashlight, assorted important letters, maybe a few snacks, and whatever else I may or may not want close at hand. And over time, quite alot of crap has amassed on there.
It feels nice to free a solid half of its room up from stuff I don't care to have there, like assorted charging cables and really old letters that have no bearing on things anymore, but it still feels like an odd urge to have at this hour.

There has never been a classical society in history that didn't emphasize physicality and learnedness as an ideal to strive towards. From Aztecs to Assyrians and Egyptians to Norse it's either the arts and philosophy or maybe astronomy and lore, but always some kind of intellectual pursit.
Example: It is quite literally historical fact that Plato's name was a nickname left over from his career in sports and pankration and means something like "broad-shouldered". Imagine losing a philosophical debate to a jacked up dude literally named "brick house".
The entire "Jocks vs Nerds" thing is a postwar cultural myth invented whole cloth out of nothing, probably more so out of resentment by former outcasts jealous of the social validation and prestige of "jocks", who wormed their way into hollywood and the scriptwriting rooms.
