The small man, Professor Flitwick, as it turned out, was the head of Ravenclaw house. He greeted all of the new students personally. He already knew all the names. He taught charms and seemed static to start teaching them.

I'm guessing you mean Ecstatic, not static?

Argus Filch came out barging through the crowd next. He saw the cat and balled his eyes out at the loss of his pet. Then came the professors, then the headmaster.

Bawled

To her power, it wouldn't make any difference. No matter the mind or size, it was still an ant trying to lift a planet. It didn't matter if the ant was a little bigger.
Atom Ant would probably try to contest this. If there's any one ant that could move a planet, it would be him. :D

"Daddy says you should always do your best to ignore prophecies," Luna said. "If you try to understand them, you never do until it is too late. If you try to prevent them, you'll make it happen. If you try to change them, you'll make it worse."
Finally! Someone who gets it! The best way to deal with prophesy is to ignore the bloody things. XD

She led the woman to the living room, where she had prepared all the information she was willing to divulge.

…

Annette blinked, looking around her house. Her head felt fuzzy and her mouth tasted bitter. She blinked again, trying to figure out what she had been doing. With a quick glance around, she noticed the house was a bit of a mess. Decorations were out of place. A few drawers weren't properly closed. One of the shelves' glass doors was open.

Another glance and she saw it was already past eleven in the morning.

She got up. She would need to tidy the house later; she was hours late for work!
Oooooh noooo. Rita… you obliviated the poor woman and sealed your fate in the process. I won't say you didn't have it coming because you certainly do and did but even I pity you for unknowingly making an enemy of the Queen of Escalation.

There was a nasty cockroach nest building under the house that she promptly set all surrounding spiders, wasps and ants to feast on them. No cockroaches in the house!
Ironic. … Actually, I wonder if Rita may have left those roaches there. It would definitely be just like her to leave a place worse than when she arrived.

She knew how to avoid getting killed by the monster. Now, she only needed a bigger monster.
Good thing she has one available. Convenient that he's blind too. Still, while he may be house sized when standing I think the Basilisk outweighs him by several tons.

The first one was that their official DADA free period wasn't free anymore. Two seventh-years, the Head Boy and Girl, took over teaching the class. A Hufflepuff named Ian Pilling and a Slytherin called Octavia Burke.
Oh now that is clever. Use the graduating students with the best marks in the class to teach the class. That sidesteps the curse upon the post (assuming the curse is actually real) quite neatly!

And what cruel taskmasters they were. It was like the duo was trying to cram a whole year of classes in just a few months.
I mean, thats exactly what they're doing.

That, however, gave Taylor an idea. Couldn't she write her own book about magical bugs?
Hm. This once I'd actually recommend letting Dumbledor know your intentions. He may decide to get you into contact with Newt Scamander. He may specialize in beasts but I don't doubt that he'd love to help with this.

And the clothing?"

Taylor scrunched her nose. "It's harder than I thought it would be. I only managed for Dee and Dum."

Luna giggled. "You dote on them too much."

Taylor huffed. "They were the first magical creatures I got, alright?"
Luna? Don't you dare act like that it wasn't your idea to put clothes on them in the first place! It was literally the first words out of your mouth after Taylor told you! XD

She stared at Dumbledore for a moment, then asked, "What really happened, Albus?"

Dumbledore had his back to her, glancing at the many portraits in the room.

"Severus tried to read her mind," he said.

"Why would he do that and how was he hurt?"

Dumbledore was silent for a beat longer. "I don't know, Minerva, and I dare not look."

McGonagall's face morphed into several different expressions too fast for Taylor's bugs to parse.

"What should we do about her?" she asked, finally.

"Young Taylor?" the headmaster turned. "Nothing."

"But, what about what happened? Isn't she a danger to others?"

Dumbledore shook his head. "I hardly believe she's dangerous to anyone who doesn't try to enter her mind."
For once a good reason for the faculty of Hogwarts to not get involved with something!

While her mum did all that, Taylor had her pixies continue the research in the library. Once her mum was done with that bit of skullduggery, she led her towards breakfast. It was surreal seeing her mum in Ravenclaw's colors, but it lit a fire in Taylor's chest. She wished Colin hadn't been petrified so she could ask him to snap a picture.

They walked hand in hand, and drew more than a few stares, but Taylor didn't care.
Good, let them stare. This is a boarding school for magic. It's honestly strange that they don't have dedicated bring your parent to school days for Hogwarts. Sometimes children need checking up on and sometimes the school needs to have an adults eye on things that they don't have influence over. And if nothing else it'd do the mundane parents some good I think if they're able to see where their children are learning and how they're being treated.

Thank you so much for book 1.
The story is fantastic.
I know book 2 will be great too.
I loved it and I hope to see more of the house-elf and the cult of the Queen of Horrors.
