[X] Hiding Like a Mole: Used to move underground, Sakura's control and elemental conversion allows her to do this while keeping most of her chakra available for other things.

The idea of someone with Sakura's strength being able to use this jutsu for long period of time and relative ease is slightly terrifying. You wouldn't even have to pull them under, just break an ankle or something.

 

really think taking the genin on an A rank mission is fucking stupid though.

the old man was way pissed when we took them into the dangorus part of our own village, lets not take them on a A-rank.

Sorry about the delay, got invited to late night parties twice this week and spent the next afternoon recovering.

[X] An A rank training trip...

If you were even the tiniest bit superstitious there's no way you'd do this. A team's first serious mission always ends up at least a rank more dangerous than anticipated. But you're not superstitious, so you choose to accept the mission and take your combat-capable kids along.

You decide to inform your genin just as Naruto is once again complaining about not being taught "any cool jutsus".

"Then I have good news for you Naruto! I have decided to teach each of you a ninjutsu! Can't have you all dying on your first mission after all."

"Uhhh... Did I hear that right?"

"Hear what Naruto?" Sakura and Sasuke look intruiged and somewhat apprehensive.

"About how WE HAVE AN ACTUAL MISSION!! This is awesome!! What is it? Finding ancient lost treasures?! Rescuing innocent villagers from bandits?!" He's actually bouncing like a squirrel that's taken too many illegal stimulants.

"I decided to take you all on a mission to wipe out a whole village of missing nin."

Jaws drop. Naruto declares you best sensei ever (nice to see Academy indoctrination is still solid). Sasuke can't conceal a grin. Sakura asks if you've taken leave of your senses.

"You three are an extraordinary team so I thought your first real mission should be extraordinary as well. It'll be a valuable learning experience."

"And being able to avoid having to go with us on a regular 'boring' mission had nothing to do with it?"

Perceptive, Sakura.

You give them the briefing.

According to undisclosed sources, the estranged apprentice of Orochimaru, Anko Mitarashi, has invaded a small village with a bunch of presumed missing-nin (no headbands were present) and appears to be gathering even more to whatever her malevolent cause is.

Your orders are to wipe them out, and with the exception of Anko herself no ninja over chunin level are expected as opposition so it's really a perfect opportunity to test the skills of your gennin.

You split off a few of clones for a day of jutsu training before your scheduled departure and order Ami to acquire equipment for the team for an mid duration mission.

Naruto is indeed a jutsu savant, picking up Directed Air Blast in less than an hour. With a couple of dozen clones all firing away with this? Naruto is finally catching up to his team-mates in offensive potential. You estimate he has enough chakra to fire it about a hundred times.

Though the queen of offense is still Sakura. It's just damn hard to survive someone who can get close really quickly, can set up a short range 360 detection net of chakra strings around her and who can fire attacks from any part of her body, in any direction, in an instant. You decide to teach her Body Flicker because hey, if fast is good then even faster has to be better, right? Perfect control and her ability to just put her chakra around your shadow clone and feel exactly how the chakra is supposed to go helps her learn this in time.

For Sasuke you teach him the Hiding in Fire technique. Stealth isn't something he's really spent much time on but, you figure it'll be useful given everything he'll be igniting with his rampant jutsu usage. You can tell the idea of him looming out of a fire, red eyes spinning, a flaming sword in one hand and a ready lightning jutsu in the other like some horrible demon appeals to Sasuke.

The next morning Ami meets you at the gate with a labelled bunch of storage seals containing a very good selection of camping supplies, food, kunai, soldier pills, ect. And you're off.

Sakura loves her new ability and spends most of the journey sitting down reading as she Flickers from one spot to the next while looking unbearably smug (if glares could kill...). Sasuke gets tired a couple of hundred kilometres into the run so you end up having to carry him the rest of the way to the border, where you stop for the night (Sakura's offer to carry him was vehemently rejected).

You ponder what to do now.

The recently walled, former trade village of a thousand people is a mere 40km away and there are likely to be patrols as you get closer. What you'd really like is information. They're recruiting, and farmers and merchants go in to sell their wares so you could try infiltrating, but henges are detectable and you're pretty famous. As for your team... Sasuke is obviously an Uchiha and it's widely known that there are only two left (Sasuke might look formidable, but he's obviously not an S-rank clan killer). Naruto has distinctive hair but Ami thoughtfully packed dyes (both skin and hair), gels, alternate outfits and even some rarer weapons... Anko hasn't been in Konoha for eight years so you don't think she'll recognize him when disguised. The same applies to Sakura.

Or you could just charge in with the element of surprise.

Two questions:
Who exactly is going in? Kakashi thinks Sasuke might be recognizable as Uchiha even with skin and hair changes and the same goes for himself.
What are you going as? What are your cover stories?

I am rather disappoint.

 

I had a long and awesome update ready on Wednesday but lost the entire thing to windows automatic update.

You paint a picture of Anko from memory (you've found that Yamanaka jutsu are indispensable) for your genin and tell them to avoid her but otherwise go to town (heh, puns).

Now that it's actually go time, your team is starting to show nerves. Sakura is fidgeting with some fire and water chakra, Naruto is quiet and pensive, and even Sasuke has an odd tightness round the jaw.

You reassure them (eye-smile and everything!) that you'll be there to help in the unlikely event they come across something they can't handle and that you've completed S-rank missions before (you neglect to mention that you've never done so solo).

The forest thins out as your team nears the village and you form a couple of clones before you see the walls. Ten metres of stone, no visible patrols, a good hundred metres of cleared space around the village... Hmm...

You send a clone over first and it's immediately disrupted with no visible cause. Weird. You guess you'll just have to risk going yourself.

The alarm has been sounded and already ninja are jumping to the rooftops. You kill some nameless mook on your way to a surprised looking Anko.

A Body Flicker and a Chidori to the-

The smirking "Anko" has just dissolved into snakes and a flickering purple box now surrounds the building you're on!

The poison gas now filling it isn't too much of a problem thanks to an air jutsu you know, but the chakra draining will start to matter very soon. It's also blocking your vision.

Your Kakashi sense goes off and you narrowly dodge what you're pretty sure is a Nagraj, a snake so poisonous a drop the size of a pin head on your skin will kill in moments.

And judging by the powerful chakra coming from somewhere in the poisonous smog (since when is Anko's chakra so... evil?) you've got a battle to fight that's far more even than you'd like. You glance outside one more time before the air becomes opaque.

Your genin's opponents include a rather fetching girl in blue with extremely flexible limbs, a huge stupid-looking man who has somehow acquired some Akimichi techniques, a tiny naked kunoichi who seems very proficient in Earth ninjutsu (judging by the terrifying scowl and other... signs, you'd guess you interrupted something), a sharkboy (also naked and angry looking), ratwomen, spiderman, batman, lizardman (how the hell did the source mistake these for normal ninja?!) and a masked fellow who just filled the wrong half of the village with smoke (his allies in the cloud don't sound too pleased with this to be honest).

You are now:

[] Sakura Haruno, half bijuu(?)

[] Sasuke Uchiha, prodigy heir

You're massively outnumbered in a village filled with who knows how many traps, your teacher seems trapped in a box of energy full of nasty fog and nastier chakra, and you're unsure about how reliable your team-mates are. It's your first real mission.

What do you do?

I should probably note that the kind of trap Kakashi just fell into is pretty much impossible to pull off with jutsu on this sort of notice. Either a seal master was recruited/hired for it (and there are only a handful of those alive) or they knew you were coming.

Also, feel free to be imaginative in your write-ins. I'll let you know if something doesn't work.

 

Just an FYI: Further details will increase effectiveness (Naruto is the one whose power increases more and more the more emotional he gets).
