[X] Blackout Fun Part 1

You wait nearly two hours outside the dorms lying down on top of the dorm rooftop and keep an eye out for Negi with your thermal vision as night falls. It’s all you as you didn’t bring anything to read. The books might get damaged somehow if you manage to get yourself into Negi and Evangeline’s fight.

If they fight that is.

You’re hoping that they do and this isn’t one big waste of time like trying to recruit Kaede to watch the fight with you. It would have been interesting to get a Ki Adept’s perspective on a fight between mages but she had to watch over the twins, Fuuka and Fumika Narutaki, her roommates. They are class 3-A’s resident pranksters and if left alone they’d certainly sneak off and possibly get involved with Negi’s and Evangeline’s fight.

Sayo also elected to stay with Kaede because of some weird thing called a slumber party. And that sort of thing doesn’t make sense at all. How can you party when you’re sleeping?

Humans are strange, even human ghosts.

You sigh and shake your head of such thoughts as the countless speakers that are scattered around Mahora City blares out an announcement. It’s from the broadcasting club, stating that the blackout is starting and warns people not to leave the buildings before the message is cut out by said blackout.

You ignore it and keep an eye on Negi as he patrols the dorms with a flashlight and Chamo hanging atop his shoulders. As you do, you use your other eye to observe your surroundings from atop the seven story dorm. Long dull minutes start to pass as nothing happens. Negi keeps on patrolling and gives no sign that he’s going to leave and go look for Evangeline.

Who you think you’ve now spotted, but she looks too old to be Evangeline. Evangeline is a blond ten year old girl; the person who is waving at you even before you spotted her is a female human adult.

Though looks just like Evangeline would if she grew up dressed in strange black bondage-like top with both a short and long transparent skirt. They flutter in the wind joined by a long black cape with a ragged and torn end from atop a tall twenty story tower seven miles away.

She gives you a rather eerie looking smile, revealing two sharp fangs as she holds on to a railing from the outside. She who you’re now certain is the Evangline a real magical vampire slowly mouths out one word to you.

Run.

Shapeshifting – A

As you are an Blacklight entity your are granted with the ability to both shapeshift and fashion your body into a variety of weapons. And you can take the form of anyone you consume flawlessly, disguising yourself from others as well as being able to perfectly act like themselves. You can also alter your appearance using the genetic templates of the people you consumed as well as the clothes you eat and mix and match them into all sorts of combinations.

Regeneration – A+

Your body has vast powers of self-regeneration at its disposal. So long as your body is properly nourished, you heal any wound within seconds, fatal ones included. As long as there's a scrap of you left and a source of biomass close by you could reconstitute your entire body if need be.

Your immune system is incredibly robust and self-adapting. It'll evolve against anything it considers harmful, giving it a resistant or immunity with enough time or fighting off repeated exposures.

Consume – A+

You can consume anything organic using your feeder tentacles. The time to completely consume targets depends on how big and powerful the being your feasting on is. Once you do you can take on its form, memories. and abilities of any creature you devour. It also heals you by using the biomass gained from your consumed target or stores it within yourself for later use.

Weapon Mastery – B

You know how to wield, maintain, and make most weapons known to man. Blade, gun, or explosives, you use them all with the same excellent proficiency. And this skill only grows as you consume targets who know these fields or expand your knowledge in them some other way.

Vehicle Mastery – B

You can drive, pilot, or build almost all mechanical vehicles known to man with incredible proficiency. This skill grows as you consume targets who know these fields or expand your knowledge in them some other way.

Glide – C

You hang in the air, slowing and redirecting your fall as you glide through it.

Sonar – C

This ability allows you to use sound waves to "ping" physical objects to locate targets and/or map out your surroundings. It goes upwards to one mile and by then the images get sketchy.

Thermal Vision – C

You can view targets and track targets with heat signatures. It lets you see them past physical barriers or things like smoke that obscure your regular vision.

Air Dash – C

You can dash in the air, enabling you to change direction mid-flight, but you can only do this once per jump.

Heat Resistance – C+

Enables you to resist hot temperatures of upwards of up to 1200 degrees Celsius.

Flight – C

You can fly like a bird with the large bat-like wings that sprout out of your back. As of now you can fly to speeds of upwards of a 120 mph and create strong gusts of winds with a beat of your wings.

Flame On– C+

You can heat up your entire body or a part of it to temperatures of up to 500 degrees Celsius, giving it a burning aura to immolate things up close or give your attacks a hot searing edge.

Fire Breath – C+

You can spew out a stream of fire out of your mouth or hands like a flamethrower. It's a strong wave of flame that burns to upwards of 1000 degrees Celsius, roasting all before you. It expands up to five feet in width with the same height high and goes on for about a hundred feet in length.

Magic Resistance– C+

You have a large degree of resistance against the energy known as magic. With this you feel that you’ll be able to mildly reduce damage done from mid-level magical attacks and status effects as well as partially resist the high level stuff. This also render you immune to the low-level magical spells.

You blink, staring at the grown up Evangeline as she continues to smile at you. You ponder on what to do for a minute and shrug at the Vampire, mouthing out; I’m just here to watch.

She blinks in surprise before bursting out into laughter. As it dies down she wipes her eye and replies.

Truly? That’s all you’re going to do, Dana Mercer? Watch?

You nod, clasping your hands behind your head, leaning against the rooftop air conditioner and wait. Keeping an eye on Evangeline you watch as she leaps off the top of the tower and flies towards your direction, using only her magic to keep her body afloat. Though you expected something like that from a vampire it still takes you by surprise to see the ease and high speeds at which she’s flying at while performing all sorts of aerobatic tricks.

You’d think she’s just showing off in-front of you, but it’s not just that. Evangeline seems to be greatly enjoying flying around like you whenever you spread your wings and fly. But that’s not it as you watch her quickly chanting out some sort of spell with the palm of her hand raised to the night sky before she stops herself and frowns.

Evangeline flips around looking towards dorms you’re atop of but not at you. Her eyes flicker from place to place as she slowly flies closer. You’re certain she’s looking for Negi and one look around tells you that he’s still patrolling now behind the dorm and completely unaware of the danger he’s in.

You still do nothing, but you wonder if you should interfere or not if Negi comes to harm. Evangeline might kill him in their duel or drain him dry of his blood if she beats him. You’re not sure what Evangeline’s intentions are to Negi and it makes you wish you had a chance to find out when you had the chance too. But if you had to guess you’re certain that she’s going to drink Negi’s blood because that’s what vampires do.

As Evangeline closes in you spot Chachamaru off in the distance about three miles away behind you. She’s dressed in a maid uniform, easily carrying a large highly advance rifle that’s man-sized in length as she leaps from rooftop to rooftop. Following after her is Makie, Akira, Yuuna, and Ako, and all of them are wearing the same maid outfit as Chachamaru.

Your eyes widen as you see them display superhuman feats of prowess you’ve never seen from them before. Then you spot their small fangs hanging over their lips as they come closer and their glazed unfocused and almost blank eyes.

“They’re all vampires?” You mutter, pushing yourself off the air conditioner and walk around it. You stop once you near the edge of the roof and look up to see Evangeline flying silently above you hundreds of feet away. She waves at you, grinning as she passes you to join Chachamaru and co. in-front of you.

They’ve stopped about half a mile away atop a five story building that gives a clear line of sight over the back of the girl’s dorm. Evangeline lands amidst the group as Chachamaru readies her rifle, looking through its scope as she lines up a shot straight at a still unaware Negi.
Hmm, this is troublesome.

You won’t get to see a fight between mages at this rate.

For those getting all preachy about Dana being a monster among monsters and how we care about nothing save ourselves ...

Why don't you bother reading the actual posts?

In them, we have: Dana limiting her contact because she doesn't want to consume Class 3A, Dana helping Sayo, Dana helping out Negi twice, despite it revealing her abilities, etc. In every snippet, as well, Dana muses on helping her classmates out when something happens that endangers them. She's far from the image you people seem intent to force on her.

I really hope that Negi does get shot, just so that we can finally eat someone. Negi as he dies, or Eva for killing him, either one would be fine with me.
