A couple of days ago Google's safe search became active on my computer and I don't appear able to turn it off. I've tried searching for an answer and haven't found one that I found intelligible. Any advice?

You should be able to turn it off again, but it does turned on from time to time even if you deactivated it. To turn it back off, press 'Setting' at the right, under Google's search box when searching for something. You'll see 'Turn on/off Safe Search'.

Maybe you block Google's cookies, then? If not, SafeSearch should still be turned off so long you are in the same session, aka don't refresh your page.

You might want to look at your firefox settings then...

The 3 bars at top right side of browser > Options > Privacy & Security

Might want to look at the settings for cookies and trackers here.

Clearing my site data did nothing.

I'm not clear what I'm trying to turn off or on.

    1. Go to Google, click on Settings in the bottom right and choose Search Settings.
    2. Right-click on the Turn on/off SafeSearch checkbox text and choose Inspect Element.
    3. Below the div that holds the checkbox, locate the hidden HTML input named "safeui". (If you're new to code, to help you locate this input element, toggle SafeSearch on and off. You should see a hidden input named safeui switching between the values on and images.)
    4. Double-click on the value—either the word "on" or "images"—and type "off". Hit Enter to commit your change.
    5. Hit the Save button at the bottom of the page to save this as your default search preference.
Let me know if that does it.

I've located the value and changed it, but I can't see an option to save the change. Where should I be looking?

    Wit
h the token set to off, you should be using Google's save button to save your preferences. If that's not there anymore, then... maybe just navigating away does it?

Mr Zoat why don't you just screen shot your problem and people here can just point it out instead of using words alone and sorry if this does not help

As you can see, turning Safe Search off the normal way doesn't work.

Trying the fix suggested by rkyeun...

I don't think it's that. I can still search for porn on every other search engine. It's just Google Safe Search.

FINALLY! It turns out that my internet service provider was censoring my Google searches! After logging onto my account, search everywhere because it isn't clearly listed and then restarting my router, I can once again search for porn using Google rather than Yahoo!
