So it says there are circumstances where posting in dead threads is ok, as long as it's a significant contribution, I'm wondering if something counts.

If an author that posts lewds here for their stories on other sites posts a lewd somewhere else, but not here, is reviving a dead thread ok to inform people that the thread op has posted content elsewhere?

    The thing is "meaningful" posts.

So notification that the writer had posted material from the dead thread elsewhere, that's fine.

Posting that the writer had updated OTHER stuff that isn't from the dead thread elsewhere? That's NOT fine.

EDIT - you could post on the writer's profile to remind them to post updates in their dead thread to let his readers know.

I see, thank you for clearing that up a bit.

I was a bit confused about the technically of it. Someone got in trouble for raising a thread to post a link to elsewhere and it seemed like something I'd do feeling helpful so I figured I should get some clarification before I stumbled into an infraction.

I feel like some mods would still ding you if all you posted was a sentence or two and a link, but that you'd be able to successful contest it by pointing to this thread going like "this was my understanding when I posted that, was that incorrect?"

(If you contest through proper channels, obviously.)
