Orrrrrrrr... in what could be an even more interesting plot twist, Edge is genuine about his reform and is being pretty much completely honest about things, and doesn't know that his sponsor is on the dark side? (No pun intended.) It would add some pathos to the story and some moral dilemma to Paul and Alan's position if they find out that Bruno Mannheim's ministry of a possibly evil religion has genuinely reformed the man behind the Alliance, and that pulling the rug out from under him by taking Mannheim down might well cause Edge to fall back into his old habits.

As for it being odd for him to ask about his father at that point, it's not that implausible. Often, if someone encounters a celebrity or such who they had a brush with or other connection to before, if it's anything that seems like it might be at all memorable, they might well ask if the person remembers it--in this case, for example, to hear Alan's side of the story as opposed to just his father's. Of course, as with this case, most of the time, they get the legendary M. Bison response: "For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday."

(Sometimes, you get lucky. When I was four years old, I met astronaut Jack Lousma at a meet-and-greet and dinner presentation in my hometown that my father had gotten us tickets for, because I was a huge space fan. I met him again about seven or eight years later, when he was speaking at the opening of a new wing of the local National Cemetery, and as soon as he heard my name, he said something along the lines of, "Oh, yeah, that kid I met back in '82? Wow, you've grown!" But I suspect that was partly because Dad had mentioned at the meet-and-greet that I was reading Aviation Week and Space Technology on a regular basis by then... kind of memorable pastime for a four-year-old kid!)

Bruno is in the cartoon, he's the gangster who gets weapons from Apokalips when Superboy busts their shit up.

So if this is Mannheim than it's not a case of him always being a fake Christian preacher and always has been.

 

I don't think she went missing, but it was kinda implied that she could be behind Crimson Avenger and her killing spree, along with all those people having their sins wiped from Hell's books.

Darkseid could be trying to get his own army of Earth superhumans, but the League is too well protected.

The sins being wiped could imply that their souls were either destroyed and that somehow destroyed their records, or their souls somehow went to Darkseid and it wiped their sins.

 

Not sure if it's been stated in either comics or this story.

Though when renegade went to Apokolips he saw a guy jump off a building to his death and thought that even death wouldn't be the end of the poor guy's suffering.

This could imply that Darkseid absorbs their souls after death, or the souls linger on Apokalips because their pain makes it difficult for them to pass on and they continue to provide power for Darkseid even in death.

 

Thank you for the disturbing reminder that Apokalips and New Genesis are technically celestial realms, and therefore viable afterlife targets for a soul to get stuck into for eternity.

 

There is always the small chance that Bruno Manheim found a religion other than crime.

I suspect the system might be subtly exposing them to Anti-Life over each use - a small enough exposure that a single trip would be negligible, a few trips won't do much, but constant use (like is intended for their group) will Justify people over time.

Virman Vundabar must be poking his metaphysical head into this reality for 'coincidence' to draw Hitler's clone to this project.

 

It's possible that one of his subordinates was just given free reign to spread the Equation in some way and chose this.

 

Going by the lack of concern, it's entirely what it claims to be. Which is almost disappointing. Still, doesn't mean that something can't happen during the transit, or at the destination. Though I expect they've been very careful about avoiding possible technical hitches.
