    Yes, the cause was simply network hardware failure. I was cut off from all administrative access to our server throughout, because there was no network; however, the hosts were transparent about the problem existing and the timeframe in fixing it.

    They say that they're going over procedures in order to lessen the impact of potential future problems. Given that, and the fact that the current hosts haven't had any real problems other than this, I would guess it's unlikely to recur soon. Hardware failures are pretty much black swan events anyway.
