Yeah, in terms of local politics, they sound a lot more sane than what's typical for political parties in general (aside from the thing about decriminalization of all drugs). Sounds like they don't really have any stance at all on international politics and the economy, which are by far my biggest concerns when looking at candidates.

US politics are to the point where I would almost consider it legit to pick a candidate based on "Who spends the least time talking about social issues?"

Yikes, unlikely to know if the Coalition's won or if we have yet another hung parliament for days.

Up to 13 days after the vote for full postal count.

Worst part is, there's calls for recounts already.

My condolences, but I think the situation isn't as bad as Brexit or Trump?

    - We had a federal election.

    - Out of the 150 House of Representatives seats, Labor has definitely won 67, the Liberal/National Coalition 68, the Greens 1, Katter's Australian Party 1, the Nick Xenophon Team 1, and there are two independents who won their seats.

    - You may have noticed that that only adds up to 140. Ten seats are still in doubt, which means the whole election is still in doubt since nobody can achieve a majority (76 seats) without them.

    - Given the 5 cross-bench seats (which may end up being 6 or 7; three of the in-doubt seats could potentially go to the Greens or Nick Xenophon Team), it's quite likely that neither of the major parties will achieve a majority alone even once the results are finalised. This is called a "hung Parliament".

    - If we have a hung Parliament, one of the major parties will have to convince enough of the cross-benchers to support them to reach a majority combined - this is known as a "minority government", and means that anything the government does has to be negotiated with the cross-benchers.

    - The Senate is even more fractious than the House of Representatives, with a full 20% of seats likely to go to a wide assortment of minor parties. As such, not much is going to get through it even if a minority government is formed.

    - If neither side can get a majority in the House of Representatives, or if the Senate is too intractable, the likely result is another election. This has already been an 8-week campaign, significantly longer than usual for Australia.

    - In other news, somebody sent out a massive amount of SMSes on election day, fraudulently claiming to be from Medicare, claiming that the Liberal/National Coalition was planning to privatise Medicare (which they have repeatedly stated they won't) and urging people to support Labor. The Australian Federal Police have begun a criminal investigation of this incident; the Liberal Party have claimed that the Labor Party are responsible, which seems logical, but we're not sure yet if this is so and if it is, exactly who in the Labor Party knew about it and approved it (i.e. was it somebody going rogue or something planned at the highest levels).

I was wondering for a while why the knife it was clutching was sheayhed and held so oddly. On reflection, though, is that representing a bonding knife?

that would explain why it does not seem to be being treated as a weapon, as they are ritual objects, not weapons.

You speak to the public expect to get a public response

I am quite aware of that function. I was merely bemused that you responded to a request for someone else to clarify what he meant with something that was clearly not what he meant. I asked in what sense it was "very well specific", which has nothing to do with what you said. You're free to comment on my dream - as you say, I did post it publically - but you might want to quote a more relevant post when doing so.
