The story engine was "a man's morals are ground down by an uncaring system", but I didn't have any plans for what would push the story after that. I tried to make "go to certain places" be a thing, but honestly that doesn't really interest me as an author. I've always been more interested in writing about mild social friction, overpowered protagonists, and subversions of expectations.
