    My only theory is that it has to do with how much smaller it is than the actual maximum avatar dimensions, so that the full gif fits the data cap for avatars (if such a thing even exists), and so the system doesn't automatically snip it down to just the first frame

    Either that, or the color data was inflating the other one's size by requiring the system to track more pixels that were not the default color (white).
