That's actually pretty damning for the former. Since there's a significant difference in original mediums, so using that for comparison is actually more appropriate. Of course by that standard RWBY is terrible on all counts...
First 3 chapters were a nice intro to what could have been a colorfull world full of unique political dinamics, lore, and Grimm based tentacles doing fanservicy things to a bunch of girls in tight dresses.
It's trash, but RWBY is worse. The main problem is most consumers of this type of fiction just haven't seen enough to have a more accurate measure of how shitty they are.
Douluo Dalu's... adaptions do not exist. You cannot convince me those... *things* count.
Rather it's own shortcomings is more a case of... hm. sequelitis basically. As just a stand alone *novel* it's fairly decent, especially compared to the usual CN stuffs.
RWBY on the other hand, manages to fail on multiple levels despite having many more favorable circumstances and factors to work with (and medium)... but squanders it all. If anything I'd say RWBY is basically another case of "Westerners writing Xianxia" (or something along those lines).
