Yeah, most people grew up watching DBZ. The first experience of anything has a big impact on a person. Especially as a child. So If DBZ was your first, you're bound to fall in love with it. Hence it being a “childhood” favorite for so many. And even after all these years Goku is still considered the main character of main characters, and a lot of the series we have now probably wouldn't even exist without DBZ.
