Questionable Questing

So not like Hogwarts at all. lol. But if they just randomly kill off potential students, why does anyone decide to go? What's the carrot or the stick so to speak?

It's not random. The training is so deadly for the Warrior covenant in the Watch they naturally die. The other Covenant orgs less so but still lethal

But what powers and abilities do they get out of the training that makes something so brutal worth it? Is there any political or status advantages too?

Maryam trains in Signs. Drawing symbols of power in the air with Glosm to cast spells. Tristan trains under Devil spies. Song is taught how to be a captain. And Angharad is in the Convent of people who can kill giant monsters with old man canes smile slowly walking forward based on pure skill.

The watch is a massively powerful organization and will help them achieve their ambitious with its resources as they rise in rank and gain favors

Sounds pretty cool. So do they interact at all or become friends or enemies, since you said they're all in different classes? And did they chose to go to the school for the resources and power? Or where they forced to for some unforeseen reasons?

They are part of a Brigade. All students must be in a Brigade led by a Captain as that is the standard Watch squad formation. They are in different Convents but share general classes and take tests and contracts together.
Maryam was a slave. Song's family is cursed and she's trying to fix that. Tristan was raised to be a spy and assassin by a ancient entity who works for the Watch.

Angarahd went to the Watch to protect herself from her family's killers. Sponsored by her uncle on her mother's side

So four desperate people from very different backgrounds learning how to work together in a very dangerous school. That set up is a classic for a reason.

Heyo, how are you? Sorry I couldn't talk last night, I had a horrible stomach ache. Feeling a lot better, but last night sucked.

Ouch. Played magic with buddy in four player game. I won nob but killed him for killing me and vice versa. We had a friendly blood feud grow while everyone else stayed out of it

How expensive are magic cards? Or can you just download some of the internet if you want to try but don't want to invest any money? lol.
