    Yeah, but VPS hosting provider are in the business of hosting, not privacy. It's in the best interest to keep logs, for optimization, compliance, troubleshooting/debugging, etc. You can do a lot with a VPS but I'm not sure if a a private VPN is one of them.

    That is valid for VPN providers, too, and I am pretty sure that some of them probably use other cloud providers to scale their infra. And a bunch of them have somewhat nebulous ownership and can be honey pots.
