A Familiar Unlucky Luck

You know when life hits you in the face it's also always chaotic that something you would never expect to happen to you happens?
You're on the road to making your life better, learning to get out of your comfort zone and learning to be something that just barely gets by in life, then you kick the can via a car accident after you just got over your fear of cars and driving.
Then you're like me. My name is Jason Vera and welcome to my chaotic life after it's passing.

Looking around all I see is pitch black and even turning around it's the same thing, just the same darkness.
'Why is it so dark I can't even see my hand? I know my vision is bad but not to the point that I can't even see.' Then as I continued to wade and look through the darkness I realized something.
"Am I dead? Is that what I get for not believing in god or no religion just an empty void?" Then as soon as I said that something very bright appears and instantly blinds me and makes my eyes sting.

As my eyes adjust to brightness and still hurts a bit, I am able to read it more clearly but not as well as I did in childhood and understood I did die and not just unconscious.

Trying to hold in the swirl of emotions I'm feeling and bottling them up because of the people that will miss me and seeing the screen means this is a second chance at life. I can grieve after I'm in a new place. "What is a chaos gacha? I've heard of leveling systems and know what a gacha is but what are you?"

There are 6 categories as followed: random as it does any of the other 5 categories and is completely random. The five other categories are Familiars, skills, abilities, items, and traits.]

[Royal Heart Ticket] |Elite Item| Apparently, they sell even affection nowadays. Just think of the person you want to affect and rip the ticket, making them like you considerably more. Is it mind control? Nope, retroactive reality and probability bending. No unwanted side effects.

A spew or curses keeps flying through my head as I get closer to the ground no matter how blurry my vision is and closer my left eye to see if the ground is getting closer or not. Seeing how close the ground is I use the stopwatch to at least give me a few seconds to think of how to survive this as my fall starts to slow down, giving me the time to think of something or anything.

Then, I remember having slotted in Rubber Body and what Luffy does when he inflates from shorts he remembered watching and decides to imitate art to real life, inhaling as much air he can and holding it in as long as he can.

After hitting something, now I have another problem to deal with. How to stop being a human pinball as he is keeps being bounced from tree to tree in the forest and it's nauseating from the constant movement and after one more tree is out of the forest and no longer inflated, the momentum still going, rolling on the ground as human ragdoll and finally stops on a side of the hill and vomited on it. He sits down to rest even just for a bit.

'I hated that, I will never look at pinball the same ever again.'

And takes a bit to catch his breath after heaving up the food he ate before he died then after that walks up the hill and closes his left eye because that eye is shortsighted, and his other is the opposite can't see close but can see far, to see how far the nearest town is and it's not that long of a distance hopefully. Then felt something in his pocket and it's his glasses that he had and the same frames and puts them on.

As he is walking decides to summon Lucifer to at least get some practice in for Psyker stuff or just have some company in general as flames erupt next to him as a woman with her long white hair being held up with her black tiara for her bangs, and long white horns, stands right next to him with a beauty mark under her left eye, standing at 5'8 with her heel boots on she looks graceful and refined in her business suite with a red collar shirt, and a devils tail swaying behind her.

"So you must be my master huh? Wow you must have pissed off a lot of people with those curses on you." And he shakes his head and tries out his telepathy but comes out very broken like a shortwave radio not having enough signal. 'Fucked………found………translater……telepathy..…please.' Although it's not very good she is able to get the gist of it.

"So you did this to yourself and need to have me as a translator, and what would I get in return for doing this for you?" Her voice smooth as silk, smirking at him smugly, trying to get the best deal out of him as she can knowing Jason needs her more than she needs him. 'Can……….family pancake recipe……..feedback……..knowledge….world.'

"Well counter offer be under me and offer your soul and be my treasured slave and you won't have any problems to worry no more. How does that sound?" He shakes his head in denial at the offer. 'No…….good………..head back? N...reason………….sorry……bother…… Lucifer'

"Well now let's not be hasty, you said you have a pancake recipe?" She backstracts fast since she hasn't had pancakes in 2,000 years, a bit flustered that deal didn't work. "How about this, you prove to me this recipe is worth it when you're able to. Until then I will help you and if they are not even worth it your mine got it?" Hoping to actually get through this and this crazy world, he nods hoping all trades and his grandmother's recipe that taste would be able to save his ass.

'Hope………upto……….expectations Lucifer.' Sighing in relief, able to get someone to talk for him and communicate to people to even work to get money for the adventure card. 'Can……..hide horns?.........two godesses……..exorsicms………demons……..powerful.' The telepathy is still new as some emotions bleed through with worry for her coming over briefly when he said powerful.

"Oh you don't need to worry I can change to horns to not be there with a simple…shift." As she said that the horns disappear into her head as all that's left is the tiara holding her bangs and no horns like they were never on her head and claps for the trick.

"Thank you, thank you. I am the greatest. Don't worry I'm able to feel the divine miles away and all I have to do is head back to that very comfy place I was in before you summoned me." Looking very proud of herself in her abilities. "So let's get going then." As they walk to the huge wall at the city of Axel they are halted more for Jason's presence of edgy, menacing, and perverted aura.

"Halt you two, what is your reasoning for coming to Axel?" Looking more distrusting of Jason even if he has one arm and out of shape, then Lucifer as she speaks with Jason feeding whatever information is coming through the telepathic connection with him noticing the Eris cross on one of the guards.

"We are two aspiring adventurers, we lost our money to bandits over by the forest to heal my love when we just escaped. We are hoping to find work to register to the guild so we can see and pay for the charitable Eris's church to heal and break his curses. We went to the Axis cult to help him but they charged millions of Eris to even have a look at him and we kept trying to not stray from Eris." Lying but confident and not stumbling a single second as Jason feeds what little information comes through the telepathy.

"What curses? You could have been a bandits that had shit luck and got caught. Some dried blood on his shirt and even then the cauterization looks old . Who did you escape from?" Looking at Jason's torn up shirt, and how bloody appearance is and clean she is.

"Oh we barely escaped the Demon General Beldia and his army half past Elroad. *sniffles a bit* Barely got out alive with Jason buying me time to get us out of there and using up most of my magic to leave, but Jason was left with curses and was bleeding out so I used what little magic I had to cauterize his arm so he doesn't die."

And to add a little spice to the story tears up a bit. "I can't even hear my lover's voice anymore to the curses placed upon him so please let us in so we can work hard to get rid of the curses."

Spoiler: 'Sad' Lucifer

She fakes ugly crying into Jason's shoulder as he rubs her back with his one arm to 'calm her' and glare at the guards for making his 'lover' cry.

His Menacing Presence amplified the look, as the guards look around at the scene at the gate noticing the towns people near the gate giving them glares and disgusted looks at making the woman cry, and with the celebrity curse working into their favor and immediately let in giving an excuse of 'demon general sighting'.

Upon entering Axel those who watch the scene gave Lucifer around 8 silver Eris for her and her 'lovers' bad luck enough to register at the guild and a place to stay with directions to the guild.

When they are in the clear she looks at Jason and is a bit red at having to act . "Those pancakes will be damn good you hear me you will make more than what you were thinking. Got it?" He nods very grateful for her and her ability to act as the walk to the guild notification popped up in front of Jason.

As his hair highlights and eyes have a hue of light purple praying to RNJesus that it's not it.

Having ruled hell for thousands of years and being a CEO, she is an incredible manager beyond human standards. "Hi, how can I help you two today?" A bit put off by his appearance and presence but staying professional, as Lucifer steps up to speak for him and see the nameplate next to the receptionist desk.

"Hello Luna right? we are here to register for the adventures guild." Jason declines to roll mentally so he can focus on the conversation to help Lucifer as he nods with Lucifer in agreement to join the guild.

"Well do you two have the registration fee and I can help fill out the paperwork. It will cost 1,000 eris or 4 silver eris each for registration." Lucifer hands over the 8 silver for the fee as the receptionist comes around to explain the cards and the machine.

"Allow me to explain how all this works. Adventurer is a generic class and your skills are important. Which brings us to your registration card, It keeps track of your level based on all the monsters you've killed. When your level increases, you'll earn points you can trade in to learn new skills, work hard and you'll raise your level in no time." Next she gestures to the machine nearby that looks like a weird orb with three circular plates the same color as the orb under it. Each one is smaller than the last one and it has a needle-like tip under the last plate. All of these are hovering inside the contraption.

"On to the next step, would you please hold your hand over the crystal sir?" As he nods, then walks up to the crystal ball to put it over it. As he does the receptionist is a bit more uncomfortable being near him as it activates and whirs to life and brightens up and starts to transcribe Jason's stats onto the card.

"Once it finishes the evaluation process, you'll get your current stats. Based on those, we'll know what class suits you best." As the machine works it brightens more as it finishes and shuts down as she picks up the card to read it out.

"Jason Vera, a bit of a strange name, you have below average strength, health and agility. Above average Magic Power and dexterity. Average Intelligence and zero in luck now that's a bit abnormal. Usually all adventures have some luck but it's zero. You have the option to choose between an adventure class or a wizard class, you can change your class to something better when you level up." Jason chooses the adventure class with him raising his finger for the in a one gesture for the first option.

" Are you sure? Wizard is a great starter class and would have better skills to learn as adventurers don't get skills naturally and you have to use more skill points for skills that would cost less if you had that class." He shakes his head yes, sure in his decision remembering what kazuma did to learn a lot and can get very creative with even low level skills even if they don't get bonus points for their class.

"Okay if you are sure." She hands him his card and he steps back to let Lucifer get her card. "Now ma'am it's your turn all you have to do is the same thing."

Happy slaughtering" The skippy AI hologram turns off and he fires at the toad once and Rubber Body helps with the recoil shooting one handed. to the head and it falls over flat on its stomach Jason gestures to the Round Deer to get close and grabs her by the pants leg and backs up dragging her out of the toad's stomach. Lucifer just looks defeated covered in slime at how she was easily so beaten by a toad of all things. Her ego was definently popped.

"Oh I am, I'm gonna send them to the lowest pits of hell and make them suffer FOR ALL MY MISERY THEY PUT ME THROUGH! HELL FLAME!" Sending one at the closest one croaking in constant pain and burning and Jason pulls out skippy to shoot the ones farther away.

'Hey….no time for…yo.r...revenge. We are fu..…surounded and…….reinforcments when injured……..focus.' But she does not listen, using as much of Hell Flame as she can, killing two more, when they are far enough to have a bit of distance tells it to stop. He sighs voicelessly and ejects a magazine out, puts the gun upside down in his lap and gets a mag from his pocket and puts it into the Magwell for skippy and racks it on his leg.

'Guess we are doing this.' He nudges the Round Deer to get in close but stays out of range of the tongue and shoots one dead as Lucifer is starting to sweat from the many Hell Flames she used and being more conservative with it, killing two in the process.

"Fine but never take me on this type of quest ever again or I'll kill you." She holds onto Jason's waist to hold on as he slowly kills the last two Giant Toads with it taking 3 bursts to kill each either not killing it in one or missing with the Deer dodging quickly.

'Well I'm glad that is done with. I feel exhausted….stupid Sloth Curse. Hey Lucifer, wanna turn in the reward and the frogs? We should get 65,000 Eris for the 13 toads and 100,000 Eris for the quest completion. It should be enough for a place for the night and get food at the guild' He does the math for this while the Round Deer for a place at an inn and food, not knowing how much actually came through the telepathy as Lucifer shakes him a bit to get him out of his head.
"Hey, you do know that all came out clearly right? Does leveling up help with that or something else?" He pulls out his card and sees he leveled up 5 times from killing 7 toads and his EXP is at two fifths full having 5 skill points and seeing the Telepathy highlighted with red and a 0 for it along with Hallucination, Invisibility, Terrify, Mental Fortitude, Puppet Master, Dominate, and Psychic Shriek. They all have varying skill points needed to unlock and telepathy turns black without his input since he touched the card.

'Maybe it's because I was actually able to use it and trained my proficiency in it till the skill points needed were reduced?' He shrugs his shoulders as Axel comes close in view and untangles his legs and hops off the Round Deer. He then helps Lucifer down off and gives the Deer a good head scratch in thanks and desummons it back into the Familiar Space.

"Well, let's hope there is somewhere to wash myself. How much is the food and the inn gonna cost?" As they walk closer to the gate and show their adventure cards and the quest to the guards and continue their way to the guild.

'Should be 25,000 Eris per person for a month. So 50k this month next this includes a free breakfast. The food at the guild should be 500 to 1,000 Eris, you can get some wine or any alcohol as long as it's the cheap stuff I'm getting myself water.' As they continue their walk and talk they finally get to the guild and go into it and turn in the quest. He once again lets Lucifer talk but does show his guild card to confirm the kills and their kill count being thirteen.

"Hey Luna, we got the quest complete and got ambushed by other Toads so we got 13 instead of just the 5." She strolls on up to the receptionist and hands them their cards to confirm it and sees how tired they both look, including a bit of slime they both couldn't get out of her clothes.

"Thank you for dispatching all the monsters even if you went above and beyond for this. The reward for your quest being 100,000 Eris and after taking transportation out of the equation get 65,000 Eris for the corpses." She bows for their thanks in doing more than they should as beginners. "Thank you and congrats on the level up to LV5 and LV2 here is the reward." She puts the Eris on the table and they pocket it.

"Anything else I can help you with?" As she asks, Jason nudges Lucifer to ask for any guild affiliated inns and directions, "Oh yes we do have some, it's just down the street. It should be 25,000 Eris a month and includes breakfast for free. That is our cheapest option." As Jason waves their thanks and Lucifer voices hers, they go sit down and wait for a waitress to order some food, a ding is heard.

"We will both be getting the Fried Frog Legs, water for him and a cheap wine for me." As the waitress nods and writes it down hurries off fast after doing so for their order. "Tch…weaklings. They serve adventures and shady people dressed like that but your curses get them this nervous?" He nods back to Lucifer agreeing with her, not knowing a person still in distance of his curses gets red in her imagination looking at him and her friend immediately grabs her hand and goes to the farthest table away from them.

"Darkness what was that about, I know you get an active imagination but just don't be around that man or the girl okay?. Their presence is ringing my Sense Foe off constantly. " She says to her red faced friend currently in her fantasy in her head trying to be serious especially how that man makes her feel but the complete opposite way.

"But Chris, if they are, it is my duty as a crusader to, nghhh, confront them no matter how that man is looking at me." He is not even looking at her direction at all as the nervous waitress serves their food and drink. Darkness just gets more flustered at the thought of what he will do to her.

She gets up very suddenly and loud but not enough for them to hear, to confront them but Chris just drags her back to the table. "Darkness don't make me say it please just let this one go until I can figure out their deal okay Lala-mhh!" She has her mouth immediately covered by Darkness.

"I …..Fine just don't say that okay? You promised not to call me by my name Chris, you're a real meanie." She just sits down and pouts now just watching them red for an entirely different reason and not in the way she likes, watching Lucifer cut the Fried Frog Legs since Jason has one arm and him looking grateful for that.

"So why don't you like them Chris? You said your skill is pinging but none of the other thieves here are reacting to them." She noticed how the thieves that hang around here looking for dungeon dives are put off by him but not at all panicking.

"They feel like they need the wrath of Eris or any god, just being around them makes me the ick." She can not even say that one feels like a demon and the man feels like the Anti-Christ since she is playing Chris the Thief, not Eris the goddess since she can't even visit the mortal world as Eris without getting caught or in trouble. She just settles with burning the back of Jason's head with her glare.

They both finish the meal and pay, then get up from their seats to head to the Inn to call it for the night with Lucifer leading the way.

He puts the note in his pocket to keep it as a reminder and decides to get some clothes since the one he is wearing is all torn up, bloody, old slime residue from taking slime from Lucifer. He opens the door. When he steps on the ground outside the inn he feels like he just had a caffeine shot and is immediately awake and heads to the guild to get some food and waits for a waitress.

He gestures for the food to be cut up by pointing out his missing arm and the waitress bows for his patronage a bit shaken from his presence, but able to get his food and drink as he waits for his food as someone sits across from them, their suit looking a lot more cleaner and smelling a whole lot better. "So you're finally awake? It only took till lunch so, from what I'm seeing your curses are weakening. I'm guessing it has to do with you sleeping in?" As the waitress also brings the food and sh orders as well.

'Yeah I was able to get traits that help lesson the [Sloth Curse], but the second one was after I was exhausted from exercise and ready to go to bed and help with recovery from exhaustion. All I need is one more and I'll be able to fix my no arm sooner rather than later. Plus got something that nullifies one of my curses.' He shrugs at that and gets to eating, he still can't taste anything but it does fill him up.

"So can you explain what I should use the skill points on because I see some things that would boost my fire's power and elementary magic, and some other spells in intermediary. I'm no Malina when it comes to games so, as much as it pains me to admit, please help me in this."

As she shows her card a bit embarrassed and sees she has more skill points for being a LV2 Archwizard having enough to get all the beginners magic and have enough to get one intermediary spell. She would have enough to use to boost fire damage or save them for later.

'Get all the beginner spells and one spell in the next category, save the rest of the points. Just having those spells is stupidly good for being cunning and sneaky. You can use create water to either make the floor wet or your enemy then use freeze to make the effect of freeze more devastating. Wind breath and Create earth to blind enemies. There is a lot you can do with that branch of magic, as long as you're creative with it.' Remembering how creative Kazuma was with it and the fact that he was just Lv 13 when the parties switched with Dust and took so many goblins and escaped the rookie's bane.

'But the decision is solely on you to make, you can get some and then upgrade your fire damage, just remember to get either Freeze with Create Water or Create Earth with Wind Breath.' She chooses Freeze with Create Water, and Fireball and uses 2 points into her fire damage saving one point to keep red and pokes the other skills to black and taps her image on the card to confirm.

She shivers as the card glows. "Ugh that felt weird, like something getting added to my soul is that how it felt to you" He does a kind gesture, probably because he is not as attuned with souls as she is. She gets her food and starts to dig in.

'Want me to wait? I need to get some new clothes considering mine are ripped up and the only person who can talk between us is you. Also here I don't need this for now since I have nothing related to magic currently.' Handing her the Sage's Ring, looking like it's made from ice with a symbol on it.

'NO I meant….this is…it's to help you with your magic. Jeez, you really are the devil.' Even his telepathy sounds embarrassed, as he tosses the ring to her lightly and she catches it and gets up to leave and puts the money for his food on the table and power walks out.

She finishes up eating, puts on the ring and leaves the money for her food on the table to catch up to him. "So what clothes are you gonna get, as you can see, I have good fashion sense to look this good." Her ego is already back up from yesterday's incident, relaxing at the hot springs and her suit clean.

He does a wordless sigh as the mute pink leaves his hair and eyes going back to sun bleached highlights and hazel eyes. 'Getting a week of regular clothes and one set of adventure clothes. Don't need any shoes because my boots are damn pretty good.' He sees the tailor shop and heads in with her following in tow.

He sees what he wants as an adventure outfit and hopefully will slim down enough to actually wear it to how it fits but nothing in the store will fit him. Jason asks Lucifer telepathically to see if she can get the Tailor if he has a skill so he can modify the clothes he buys. "Excuse me sir, I was hoping to see if you can show my adventure friend here how to obtain the Tailor skill. We haven't been able to find any in his size."

"You know this world ain't so bad, especially the view. It just looks like before humans industrialized a lot around my time when I fell from heaven." He doesn't speak for a second letting that statement settle, as his whole hair and eyes turn melancholy dark blue.

'Yeah I can see what you mean. Haven't seen this in a long while, my parents used to take us hiking, fishing, and camping alot when me and my brother were younger….Wish i'd actually do that more with them If I knew how my life was gonna end up like this.' As all the memories he remembers comes up from his childhood hating doing all of that, but tears fall anyways.

'I'm gonna miss them alot, especially knowing that I will never see them or not make up for being such a smartass of a child and wanting to not go out to hang out with them on hikes or fish with my Brother.' When he feels that most of his stamina is drained he cuts off the RCT, him now sitting up and hugging his knees in contemplation of what could have be's in his mind. Tears are rolling out, not even able to voice a single cry at his end and regrets in his original world.

"You know….you're not the only one with regrets." She sits up next to him and she continues to talk not to sooth him but to get him to understand that you can't take back what the past is. Staring in the sky that is slowly turning into a darker color as the sun begins to set, remembering her past.

"I'm sure you already know my story of how I fell from Heaven, my anger at God, my Rebelion, my original sin. I Have had an Eon of time to reflect on what I did and didn't care for it, but what I cared for is what I lost because of that." The Round Deer Joins them being big enough to curl around them, as Lucifer continues to talk.

"I had people there for me, to help lessen that I lost no matter how much of a dumbass they were, but they were there for me and those memories help with that. So let's make some memories you will remember for lifetimes, to lessen your regret and be there for the people you have today, Okay?" She stands up to give Jason a hand to get up himself and she has a smile that looks not like a devil….but an angel. He grabs it and gets up to follow her back to Axel and doesn't see the Gacha's notification, his hair and eyes go back to highlights only for the color of Melancholy.
