Chewing through the remains of a burger picked up along the way you come to the conclusion that it's high time to ditch this town and make your way back to Fine.

Hopefully the things you have uncovered in your little detour will be enough to prevent your punishment. Aw, who are you kidding, you failure to recover Durandal or capture the Gungnir Girl will have you strapped to the shock table for a week at the least.

Though you can't quite shake the fear rolling around in the back of your mind that she would replace you with one of these new girls... Nah there's no way Fine would do something like that right?

Shaking the stray thought from your head you peer down from the rooftops at your chosen destination for the night, a cheap hotel buried within the older section of town. At one point in time it probably had been a decent place to stay, but as time moved on so did the city.

What does that mean for you though? It means that the man behind the counter is more interested in the show on the lounge tv then the fact that a teenage girl is checking in alone late at night. The fact you paid in cash probably helps as well, and you would put good odds on it making it's way into the man's pockets instead of the register. It's how the adult world works after all.

The room itself is passable at least, the shower in the bathroom felt wonderful after your active day and even if it is old and worn the bed is far softer then one in your cel... you know what you're not going to think about that.

As sleep rapidly approaches you finally allow yourself to think about the girl whom never showed up after you rescued her a second time and while part of you is hurt and confused by her sudden disappearance, a small part of you sighs in relief that she won't be mixed in with the madness that is your life. She reminded you too much of the newbie Gungnir Girl's for your tastes.

Of course as darkness overtakes you the nightmares come again, after all they always do whenever you are forced to use Ichii-Bal.

It was supposed to be just another typical mission of mercy to help the refugees in this war torn land. Mother and father spent their days tirelessly helping those displaced by the constant fighting while you pitched in as well, easing the pain as best you could. There should have been no danger to any of you since the warfront was supposed to be miles and miles away.

The sounds of loud vehicles and gunfire in the early evening hours shattered that scene in an instant. Mother ran into your tent in an effort to warn you and your father of the dangers approaching, only to be shot in the back for her troubles. Her warm blood splattering all over your face as you stood there in shock unable to process the events unfolding in front of your face.

Your father dragged you to the ground and covered you with his body, all the while saying... something that couldn't reach your ears while also trying to block your mother's corpse from your field of vision but failing at that as well. For a while you lay there, soaked in your mother's blood, the sound of bullets flying through the air and the screams of the dying all around but you are too out of it to notice anything.

Then silence fills the air once again and for a moment it appears for a moment that the worst is over. Then they enter, those two men that stank of blood and violence whom will forever haunt your memories. Father tries to prevent them from separating the two of you, but he was a violinist and not a fighter. So it was no surprise to anybody that they were able to separate you two dragging you out to where the rest of the prisoners were being gathered.

Then the bandits separated the men from the women and lifted their weapons once again. You watch your father smile at you one last time before hearing his final words spoken to you, "Stay strong Chris, it will be ok."

Finally there's one last burst of gunfire and only as your father's lifeless corpse hits the ground do you regain control of yourself. As the bandits sneer at your group with obvious promises of things worse than death, you break down as the last pillar of your life crumbles. As your tears flow freely down your face you shout to the uncaring heavens.

"Father!" You bolt awake and sit up in bed as your latest nightmare pushes you back into the land of the living.

You remind yourself that it was a dream while forcing the horrors you were subjected back into the sea of memories.

The man at the counter is just as uninterested about you leaving as they were about you checking in. As you enter the bus heading for the train station you think for a moment about looking for the Akane girl but even if you were so inclined to do so there's the one little issue with this plan, namely the fact that you a bit busy running away to notice where girl's apartment was located at nor would you know the places she would be likely to go. Meaning that any search you made would be forced to be conduct at random in a city whose layout is unknown to you and doing that would just be a further attempt at delaying what was waiting for you and a wasteful one at that.

No the girl will just have to learn to deal with the harsh realities of the world on her own, like you were forced to, at least till the plan is finished then nobody will have to suffer anymore.

Getting off the bus you scan the terminal seeing nothing out of the ordinary and the process to board one is second nature to most Japanese citizens, even transplants like yourself. It isn't until the doors close while and the conductor announces the next stop that you come to a realization. The trip to Tokyo is going to take five hours. That means that for the next five hours you are trapped in a small little box without even your cellphone to keep you occupied seeing as it's still dead and like hell are you going to be caught dead sleeping on a train.

Dammit, maybe you should have grabbed a book or something stupid, stupid Chris.

Resigning yourself to hours of boredom you stare at the scenery as it passes by. As the endless rows of buildings and streets gives way to a more scenic view of plains and distant hills you notice something strange occurring in the car you are riding in. Namely the fact that the other commuters around you are ever so slowly switching to other cars and you can feel the hairs on the back of your neck warning you that something is not right. After what you have been through these last few days it is a safe bet that whatever it is has to do with magic. What was that saying again... something about opening Pandora's Box?

Mere moments after the final person leaves the compartment a toneless voice speaks up, "Greetings Yukine Chris." Seemingly it comes from nowhere and everywhere at the same time causing you to search the room for the source of the voice and finding nothing for your troubles and putting you on high alert. "If you are searching for my vessel you may want to look towards your feet."

Following the direction of the voice you look down and find yourself looking at a white colored version of the cat like creature from the night before staring up at you it's bushy tail swaying back and forth in a slow almost hypnotic motion. It jumps up on the seat across from you and almost seems to do what could be considered a bow, "Like I was saying, greetings Yukine Chris, my name is Kyubey, a Messenger of Magic and we wish to welcome you to this Earth visitor from another quantum possibility. But at the same time we are curious to know how..."

Your heart skips a beat as the rest of it's greeting fades away, now your formal education may have been almost non-existent but nobody could call you stupid, and if there's one thing your life experiences have taught, first from your years spent as a test subject for Relics and then later when Fine explained how Solomon's Cane functioned, it was the Noise came from a different quantum plane and that was just fancy words for another possible reality. Which means this little stuffed toy reject was... was... trying to tell you that the crappy Gungnir girl had sent you to another... Dimension?

No... that can't be true... can it?

"Are you ok? Humans are such a hard species to understand sometimes." The toy like being stares at you as the gears grind to a halt.


So Chris, your world continues to crumble around you but then again it's not really your world is it? How do you react to yet another bombshell being laid?

Don't mind me, I'll just... quietly put this here and...




"I'm Buddhist, so this must be the lowest level of hell." You mutter to yourself as the white cat-bunny-thing continues chattering at your feet, going on and on with questions like, how did you get here and how did your abilities work… Actually now that you think about it, you're not sure if that's true after all your parents were Christian mission… you know what that's just something else you're not going to think about, especially after your last nightmare. Instead you're going to go looking for food someplace far away from talking bunny-cat plush toy things and attempt to stop thinking about… well everything.

"Honestly, I will never understand you humans." Kyubey says as it notices that you've pretty much tuned it out. "I attempt an exchange of information by informing you of something you should know and you don't even reply b..."

At this point you just do your best to tune it out. Which is a neat trick to attempt considering that he's beaming words straight into your mind but you manage it anyway as you reach the door to the next compartment. At the rate it's going you might even come to hate magic as much as music considering the way it keeps forcing itself into your life ever since its discovery.

Or maybe you aren't as good at as you catch it's parting line, "Oh well, there will be other ways to get the information and hopefully next time we meet you'll be more inclined to talk. But until then just know I'll be watching you." that doesn't sound ominous to you at all now does it Chris.

You turn around to look at the spot where the bunny-cat was sitting and see… nothing. It has vanished as abruptly as it appeared. With a shrug you put it all out of your mind as there has got to be food somewhere on this train as you put off processing what the cat-bunny just told you a little longer.

You leave the now completely empty compartment and find yourself back in the world of human civilization as you hunt down a cart selling snacks before being politely asked to return to your own compartment. Which with snack in hand and wallet still lighter you proceed to do only to find it once again full of the people that had gradually left before acting like they've never moved in the first place, more of that magic bullshit you're sure.

You're not exactly sure what happens a short time later, one moment you're chewing on a piece of pocky watching the scenery pass by and the next you're standing in the middle of an almost shadowy void. The sky is filled with a chaotic mesh of shadow crosses intersecting with each other but yet it feels like none of the shadows reach the ledge you are standing on even as you yourself are covered in shadows. Meanwhile the ground beneath you is on a gradually incline that shrinks in size a bit before ending at a rather large pure red ostensorium. To either side of you there appears to be a rather sudden drop into a neverending void that your subconscious is informing you would probably be a bad idea to fall into.

All in all, your mind compresses your first impression of your surroundings into a simple form, it appears you're standing on the stone arm statue similar to that Jesus statue in Rio. But what is most striking is the black stationary figure praying to the ostensorium. If it wasn't for the fact that it's whip like hair wasn't standing up while the air was completely still you'd swear that the thing was alive.

Yeah, this is probably the weirdest thing you've ever seen, and that's saying something considering some of the things Fine's shown you involving the Noise. Also creepy especially that prayer like muttering you hear from somewhere ahead of you, maybe there's someone behind the praying lady figure?

You somehow doubt that as every finely honed instinct in your body is telling you that whatever is going on here is probably not good.

And then from the statue in front of you erupts into a sea of arm like creatures and you you have mere moments to decide a course of action. Whatever this monster is, you're almost sure the bunny-cat had something to do with it's appearance, and the next time you saw it you and it were going to have words.

You are now before the dreaded

Yukina Chris, what will you do?

[X] You refuse to use your own symphogear when you don't need to, after all they came from around the that statue and they'll probably disappear with it's defeat like any Noise you've fought before. You'll just use the inherent toughness and regeneration properties of Nehushtan Armor's ignore the horde and strike at the head of the snake.
