"Jiwald!" a young boy shouted a beam of light shooting from his hand and shattering a boulder in the distance "Grandma look I did it!"
A wizened woman smiled down at the boy "You sure did, I'd say you've mastered the basics of yang magic, and at such a young age too." As the child smiled up at her she couldn't help but think of her past, her time fighting in the demi human civil war, the death of her husband and child, the years she spent secluded in these woods and then the day she found her beloved grandchild abandoned in the woods.
"Truly you never know where life might take you."

"What was that grandma?" shaking herself out of her memories she looked back towards the child "Nothing dear, just an old woman stuck in her own head, now lets begin your lessons on the proper way to cast El Jiwald." the boy hopped in place cheerfully excited to learn a new spell when the sound of heavy footfalls alerted them to something approaching.

Emerging from the trees was a witchbeast known as a Orthrus a large twin headed dog with shaggy black fur, it eyed them hungrily opening its mouth in a low growl exposing razor sharp teeth.

"Get behind me child." The old woman pushed the boy behind her with a calming smile before looking back at the beast she raised he wrinkled hand pointing her palm towards the beast as it pounced towards them "Al Jiwald" with a calm utterance of the spell a massive ray of heat tore though the beast reducing it to nothing in a great show of magical power. Then the old woman collapsed.

"Cough what is this, my gate-" she was interrupted from her thoughts by her beloved grandchild "I'm really sorry grandma, but I can't alter bodies so even if you have the skills of a master mage your body just can't handle the strain."

What was he saying, the old woman really couldn't understand what the precious child was talking about.
"But don't worry I won't let you suffer, you will live a life of love and wonder."
What does that mean what are you-

Sitting in her soft bed, her beloved grandson holding her hand she couldn't help but be thankful, she had endured many hardships but she was truly blessed. He had grown into a handsome young man, her teachings had served him well slaying the white whale that had taken her husband and children from her jus so she could end her life with no regrets.
Her great grandchildren sat at her bedside crying and she just smiled at them "Don't be sad, I've lived a life of love and wonder." With her final words of comfort to the children she closed her eyes and drifted off into a peaceful well deserved final sleep.

The child looked down at the smiling corpse of his once grandmother "I'll really miss her, but I suppose its time to find a new teacher." as he walked away from her cooling corpse he felt a tinge of regret "I'll try and find one that has a better gate this time, I want them to last after all."

Authority of pride

Omnipotent reader
Through this ability he can watch anyone and anywhere in the world no matter the distance, he keeps some places under watch for certain things to happen in the corner of his vision.
He can look into other peoples pov hearing their thoughts and feeling what they feel emotions and sensations.

Rewrite
He can change people's memories and feelings, but he cannot change anything physically.
He can make someone a skilled swordsman but he cannot give them the body to keep up with their skill.
He also cannot grant them knowledge or skill that doesn't exist in the world, for example he can't have them know a system of magic not native to the world or have them be a great mechanic when cars do not exist in the world.
He also cannot grant himself new memories or skills.

His alterations to people's memories can't affect the whole world; he must alter everyone else's memories about that person's past as well, but he can alter multiple peoples memories at once and almost instantly as well.

Memory Manipulation. This is the first time I've seen such power being implemented by the protagonist in a fic.

Chapter 2 New
I've lived in this world as Deneb for eighteen years now and I've made so many wonderful characters, turned empty background characters into people that matter people that are real, in exchange all I wanted was for them to share the skills I granted them with me.
Not that they knew that, from their perspective they had either worked their entire lives for their skills or were always just gifted at what they do, some people might say that I take their free will, that the trials and tribulations were false and empty and to that I say, "Who fucking cares?".
They're much better off than before much happier, everything I've done has made the world a better place so its not wrong.

I've done several tests over the years I gained my authority at the tender age of 4 so I've had the time, my first use of it was to make my father no longer an alcoholic, then I made him skilled with an ax, then I altered his memories after he was so confused at the horrid state of his body that kept him from fully utilizing his skills.

After my mother had died killed by a Mabeast attack while he was off chopping wood, she had sacrificed herself to keep me safe until he returned and then died in his arms after he killed the monsters. In reality he had beat her to death in a drunken rage, but this was more palatable to me.
Where was I? Oh yes the alterations, he began drinking and letting himself go after her death which was why he was in such bad shape, he dedicated himself to bettering himself feeling a great deal of shame for how he had let me down after her death, which meant I got to do pretty much anything I wanted.

He taught me how to fight with an ax and when that was finished he would go off to work slowly regaining his former power, and while he was working I would train with my new "Grandma" she didn't last long I should have known someone who had never used magic wouldn't be prepared for that level of magic, but at least she died happy instead of freezing to death all alone like she was probably going to before I came along.

Then I realized I couldn't affect the memories of the world because the villagers were wondering what was up with my dad not being a complete piece of shit? My dad had also forgotten he had various debts to repay, whores gambling alcohol he was really living it up before wasn't he?
I had only given him memoires of alcoholism not the other two vices so more confusion happened, that's when I decided to fix the entire village.

Now everyone helped each other to survive the cold winters instead of greedily hoarding everything they could, no more banishing the elderly for not being worth anything, its much better this way. The gang that used to kill people for not paying protection money now defended the town from Mabeasts and hunted wild game to keep everyone fed. The whores who used to have such haunted empty eyes were now empowered and nobody in the town would think of roughing them up after hiring them, the confidence really made them look a lot prettier in my own opinion.

I had changed the frozen shit hole I used to live in into a thriving community, warmer, safer, happier truly I am magnanamous don't you think?
Of course it was important for me to play my part as well, the son of the village hero who was dedicated to bettering himself. It was easy because I really was eager to learn, Ax fighting, riding, mounted combat, Yang magic, Cooking, Medicine, Teamaking, acting, state craft, economics, martial arts, curses I learned all I could to become the best me I could be.

I wasn't slothful so I made sure to experiment with my authority, I had picked out an average looking girl her name was Loppy and I gave her the greatest seduction skills in the world, she could read people and tell exactly what they wanted or needed to hear, her every movement was filled with grace and sensuality, I had even given her unmatched skills with makeup and fashion but she didn't need it even in her plain dress and pasty freckle covered face she could tempt any man or woman and get anything she wanted. It was truly interesting to see, and of course I had big sis teach me everything she knew, I don't think I could ever reach her level but I'm very happy with what I'm able to do.

I also decided to make a long term investment, Rasputin was an orphan and around the same age as me and I decided to try and make him strong enough that Reinhard would be able to draw his sword to fight him, I wasn't trying to make a warrior capable of defeating him I'm pride not stupidity. I made him want strength to protect innocent people from harm and then gave him the greatest natural talent in fighting of anyone in the world, he would know exactly what to do to better his physical condition and the drive to push through any hard training he decided to put himself through.

I found out he had affinity for blue magic and made him a natural at healing his wounds even as he gained them, it was rare he ever gained a wound in battle and when he was wounded it would instantly start to heal even as it was being made. I didn't know whether to make him skilled in swords or axes or spears so I just made him a master of every kind of weapon there was, he would carry a basically an entire armory with him at all times pulling out whatever weapon best fit the occasion and he was able to quickly change his weapons mid combat making him very difficult to fight. I also made him my best friend, I only gave him natural talent in fighting and I was training hard in many skills not only combat skills but life skills as well, he respected how hard I worked to better himself and decided to work even harder at the thing he was naturally gifted at.

When we finally reached the age of eighteen we were the two most popular men in the village, his wild dark blue hair was tamed into a long braid and he wore very little clothes for the frozen lands of Gusteko, he said that it was further training but I knew he just wanted to show off his muscles. He carried a large bag of weapons on his back, none of them were of amazing quality but he assured me they were trust buds of his that he had known almost as long as he had me.

I myself had very short black hair and wore thick furs covering my whole body, I had little gems and tools hanging from myself, they were pleasant to the eye but they were all powerful cursed tools I had crafted over the years, I was charming and handsome and was often complimented for my kind eyes, I was good looking enough that you wanted to keep looking when you got close but not enough to draw peoples eyes if I was in a crowd. I had several hatchets in my belt so I could easily grab one to throw if needed, each with a powerful killing curse attached to it, I didn't like wasting my things so I mostly used my Yang magic instead.

So it was only natural that when he wanted to travel the world in search of greater challenges I went along with him, he wanted to travel to Lugunica and spread his name there as a great warrior, he was sick of the cold was the reason he gave but the true reason was he wanted to test his strength against the sword saint. And that was entirely his own decision trust me.

My father was finally back to his full strength so the village would be safe without us and he had also been training the rest of the menfolk to help defend our home as well so it was alright for us to leave. Honestly the fact I was able to make them think he had been turned into that hopeless weak wreck he was before from this by a single month of grief was insane, but mob mentality really helps with any wild alterations I make not breaking my narrative.

Loppy's daughter Leppa was also going with us, she and Rasputin were recently married and I didn't even have anything to do with that, just happened naturally and honestly I ship it. Leppa was a petit girl with mousy brown hair and a splattering of freckles across her nose, her mother had taught her beauty and skin care tips from a young age so she was prettier than her mother but you can only help genetics so much. Even so she had this air of mischievousness and fun around her that drew people in, she was also very good with people always knowing what to say and when her empathy was out of this world moving to help people before they say anything, and that was without my help as well, just being raised by her mother helped her turn out this way. She wore a simple thick dress and a large fur coat that Raz had made for her from a beast he had slain, it was really rather ugly but it kept her warm and she loved anything Raz gave her.

She took good care of Rasputin making sure he remembered to eat and bathe and rest, she had even learned to sew so she could mend his clothes. Raz always said she didn't need to do those things but he appreciated it all the same, I guess those small acts of kindness and nagging grew into love between the two of them over the years.

"Well are you both excited, a whole new kingdom to explore, new people to meet and I heard the royal selection is starting as well."

"Oh are you thinking of sticking your nose into politics Dee?" Ah of course she would notice my excitement about the royal selection "Not exactly, but I do really want to meet new people, and anyone selected by the dragon should be interesting right?"

"Well whatever you're planning you know I'm behind you 100% of the way!" Ah Raz I love you really I do but my friend, you could tone down the Shonen protagonist a bit. "I know you will, I really can't wait to see how we'll change the world!" we continued on like that joking at each other and wondering what this new land had in store for us and I couldn't help but think about the small mirror in my bag.

I wonder what will happen when I'm caught, whatever it is I'm super excited to see what happens!
