I've begun work on adapting the Chaos Gacha to my needs. It is currently a mess, and I'll probably never complete it, or at least never be happy with everything. But I figure I should make mention of it, and try and keep a log of all the changes I'm making.

Spent all last night changing bits and pieces of the source code of the app, which I've pulled from Bronzdeck's github. It'd probably go a hell of alot smoother if I knew what I was doing. I'll probably need to crack open my O'Reilly Python books at some point if I do any big changes, but I'm hoping that I can leave most of the source code intact.

Added a new Category, titled: Fauna. For summoning animals that can be used as harvesting resources. I'll likely need to do the same with Flora, too, but that is a ways away.

Fauna functions by giving the user of the Chaos Gacha a certain number of breeding pairs. They are completely independent, except for the fact that they are completely loyal to whoever tore their ticket. Besides the initial summons, they will live out their full lifecycles, reproducing endlessly so long as they can flourish in whichever environments they are summoned.

Even their offspring and descendants remain loyal to whoever initially summoned them.

Whoever summoned them will also be able to harvest parts and materials from each individual member of the species daily, for a total of 10kg or 22lbs a day of materials. This is harmless, so no butchering is necessary for those that just want pets but still want to benefit from crafting parts. This even applies to both offspring and descendants beyond the initial summons. But has a hard cap about harvesting use, requiring at least a greater population number than the initial summons, and also at least one breeding pair per species to benefit from the daily harvest.

Fauna summons will also replenish should their populations drop below a single breeding pair.

To help with overpopulation issues and massive ecological changes, there will also be a ticket for each Gacha tier that represents a redeemable token. When used, the user may redeem any single species of Fauna that matches the token's Gacha tier in value. All summons of the redeemed species will be removed from the world and the user will receive a refund ticket of exactly one lower tier than the original ticket they used to summon the Fauna species that they are redeeming. If the token is used to redeem a Bronze tier Gacha ticket, the user will receive a full refund of a Bronze tier Fauna Gacha ticket instead.

Besides that, I renamed Traits to Perks, because that honestly makes better sense. At least for me. And I resized the app's menu to better fit widescreen displays of at least 1600x900, although when maximized it should be 1920x1080. I do this because I do not have, nor want any monitors of greater resolution than 1920x1080.

The Fauna summons list is pretty bare bones now. I'm going to be adding to it for some time. Currently working on Monster Hunter's Endemic animals.

My hope is to incorporate stuff from the Celestial lines of CYOAs, and maybe some things from Essence meta, Waifu Catalog, and various any other CYOAs and Jumpchains I like.

I've some ideas for other rule changes. While I like the default achievement based system for determining when the user should roll, I feel there is room for "The Weight of the Pen" system for earning rolls as well.

I wasn't happy with just how tame the official Chaos Gacha is, so it is my hope that the changes that I will be making to it shall truly embrace the spirit of CHAOS!

If there is a big enough interest, I'll upload a build of my modified Chaos Gacha once it has more meat on it.

Small update: I rethought the whole Fauna, Flora system because I realized that I'd be missing out on fungi and mining ores. Combined Fauna, Flora, Fungi and Ores into one massive category called "Resources". Basically, they function as any ecological resource that can be gathered in the wild.

I also added a new category for party members called "Companions." Should allow me to import companions from the Waifu Catalogue.

Didn't like the Familiar system, since it covered anything in-humanoid regardless of their level of sapience.

Companions are sapient, battle ready members of the user's party. You can't control them directly, but their loyalty is enforced as a safety measure. They are fully independent, and will make decisions according to their will. If the user doesn't actively choose to alter their biology then they will live out their species' ordinary lifecycle according to their needs, wants and circumstance. And yes, that means that they can breed with any compatible species. Also, yes, they aren't guaranteed to be immortal unless a Warranty Ticket is pulled. I shouldn't have to say this, but I'd be remiss if I didn't disclaim that the summoner cannot harvest any organic or inorganic materials from their Companions. They are people, not wild animals.

Familiars are non-combat oriented, sapient to semi-sapient in-humanoid creatures that the user can summon. They will follow direct orders only so long as their lives are not endangered by the order. They prioritize the safety and happiness of their summoner and are extremely loyal. If left alone, Familiars will live out their species' ordinary lifecycle according to their needs, wants and circumstance. And yes, that means they can breed with any compatible species. Familiars cannot be harvested for organic and inorganic materials. Treat them as fairly intelligent pets, something you can grow emotionally attached even if they aren't intelligent like a person. Any Familiars killed or damaged will return to summoner's side after 24 hours whole and healthy, and alive if necessary.

Finally, Resources are any organic and inorganic animal, plant or material that can be harvested out in the wild. Animals summoned through the Chaos Gacha are fully independent lifeforms to the user. They are born, grow, and die as they would in nature. Their actual intelligence is on par with any typical member of their species. While they are loyal to the summoner, functionally this means that they will only avoid bringing harm to their summoners, the allies of their summoner, and their summoner's property. While the summoner may issue orders to them, these animals will only understand a basic order of "Come here," or "Go away". This is purely as a means to allow easier daily harvesting of organic and inorganic materials from their bodies.

Animal summons of the "Resource" category are intentionally design to only be as intelligent as a typical specimen of their species to prevent unnecessary guilt should the summoner find that they need to butcher their summon for some reason. They are first and foremost a farming resource, and should not be empathized with for the user's sanity.

Any plants, fungi or inorganic materials summoned through the "Resource" category will randomly spawn throughout the local biome where the summoner initially summons them. They will slowly spread to the surrounding biomes over time, typically up to six months to a year to expand up to 10km, or 6mi. Once harvested, they will restock randomly from the total population with a maximum restock limit of two weeks for plants and fungi and one month for inorganic materials such as metal ores.

Animal summons of the "Resource" category can still be harvest daily for a total of 10kg, or 22lbs of materials. However, the summoner attempt to harvest a part of the animal that heavier than the weight limit then the summoner may harvest a single piece of said material that they are attempting to harvest. In the event that the summoner decides to butcher the summoned animal, all restrictions on weight limits are removed. In other words, "If I'm slaughtering the whole pig, then I should be able to eat the whole pig."

Unlike animals, any summoned plants, fungi, ores and inorganic materials harvested shall be treated as a wild resource. Therefore, no such weight limits will be placed on the summoner to harvest them.

And that's about all I've managed since this morning, besides continuing add Monster Hunter animals to the Resources category.
