  • Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com. Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
  • The rules regarding NSFW links have been updated. See here for details.

E-mail updates about new chapters don't show the full text, and I clearly remember a time when QQ used to do this??

SpaceBattles and SufficientVelocity, whenever I get e-mail updates about new chapters, will have the full text of the chapter in the actual e-mail itself.

I remember a time when QuestionableQuesting also did this, but at some point in the last two years this changed, and now I have to click on the link itself whereas previously I used to be able to read the entire chapter right in the e-mail browser.

Can a forum administrator please weigh in on whether or not this was intentional, and if possible, enable this behavior once more? Especially since I've now started subscribing to forums instead of just specific stories, I'd like to be able to read through the chapter text without having to click the link / open a new tab / log-in if it's been too long, etc.

Thank you!

If memory serves, that changed because that was a function only in the original Xenforo.

After the server was upgraded to xenforo 2 this function was uunavailable, as extensions from aren't directly portable from xenforo to xenforo 2, they need to be rebuilt in the newer version
Sb and sv used a similar function that exists in xenforo 2 where for longer posts you get sent the first paragraph or two of the post, but if you want to read the entiery of the post you still need to go to the actual page.

Again, if memory serves, both the xenforo dev and actual admins weren't interested in rebuilding the function in xf2 because the full post mails tended to trigger spam responses in email providers.

And considering how little a preview you get from that xf2 functions, i...thiiink the admins decided that the extension wasn't worth implementing... I do know it was broight up and discussed in the xenforo2 feedback thread
