    I propose and request that the [abbr] tag be disabled forthwith. I have never once seen it used for its intended purpose (expanding abbreviations and defining terms); instead people use it as a sort of parenthetical hidden text thing, at which purpose it is awkward and irritating.

    As a general rule, unless a forum feature is actively detrimental to the community at large -versus just annoying one person - they will not be disabled or removed.

    Wait, what? I know that Valette-Serafina uses it at times, but only as a context-ish stuff. Ze never uses the abbr as hidden text practice.

    Maybe they changed to use the abbr tag as hidden text due to my Hora invisitext practice?

    I don't dislike the practice, I just don't like when people use it in such a way that it's not at all obvious.
    Like with text that's underlined.

    I in have seen it used properly, so. .banNing a feature because it can be used in a way some people find mildly annoying s seems silly. If people are using it to be annoying, complain at those people. If they don't change..stop reading them?

    I personally stopped caring about that practice once I made it so that underlines from it are incredibly visible, so as far as I'm concerned people can keep doing whatever they want to do with it seeing how it doesn't affect me.

    The only problem I have with it is that I can't see the "hidden" text when browsing with my phone.

    Without intent to make a binding statement of policy, it is unlikely that we will remove a feature unless it's being actively detrimental. A markup tag which can be used in an irritating fashion doesn't really qualify.

    If you come across it often and are annoyed by it, it's probably possible to write or find a user style or script which makes it more obvious, or shows the hidden text in parentheses, or something.

    ... Um, I use abbr. Kinda often, actually.
    For conversational tangents, mostly, though I may use it in text sometime. I use color=transparent too.
    I actually kinda like it as a hidden text option. It's more noticeable than color=transparent is unless a marker is used.

    I fully oppose any removal of features from the board. I like having the magic of bbcode at my fingertips.

    Since I had it sitting around already, here's three different ways to make abbr more obvious for those you of that might want it. Just remove the /* */ from around whichever you want to use.

    blockquote.messageText abbr, .message .signature abbr{
    /*border-bottom-width:2px!important;*/ /*Makes the dots larger*/
    /*border-bottom-color: red!important;*/ /*Changes the current version to a red line instead*/
    /*border: 1px solid red!important;*/ /*Makes it a full red box instead.*/}

    Um, when did I express any dislike toward the [abbr] tag? I'm mildly annoyed that I can't see it when I'm browsing with my phone, like Nekraa has mentioned, but otherwise it's just another feature.

    That's a reasonable argument for tweaking the site's CSS, though. Something like
    Code:
    u abbr, abbr u { text-decoration-style: wavy; }
    or what-have-you.

    I wasn't complaining, I was genuinely curious about when I had expressed dislike toward the [abbr] tag. Thank you for showing me that, though. In any case, it's not too big of an issue, just a slight annoyance that I can put up with.

    I will break the arrow off of the astrological sign which provides the only indication available to me about any trait of you as a person, you internet person with a handle I don't know how to pronounce.
    My likes are symbols of a shared loss felt by everyone, and of the bonds of kinship that connect...well, if not everyone on QQ, everyone who was active in Valette's quests in times of yore.

    I've liked a lot of things that I have no idea what they are, and a lot of things I'd probably disagree with.
    About half of my likes are meaningless.

    ...anyways, that's enough of that.
    Regardless, I cannot support your statement. That way lies having Likes default to Votes.

    No, if I were assuming 'Like = Vote', I would have stated 'And these people support my position' rather than poking them for their opinions~
