Considering they were charting the solar system without a telescope or any established science of astronomy, throwing in an extra planet ain't too bad a job.
A lot of that is some combination of luck and selection effects, but as I've always said, the "ancients" weren't stupid, contrary to popular modern belief. (And in some senses, e.g. Mnemonics, they were actually more advanced than we currently are)
Despite my disdain for any Ancient Alien shit, there's really no way to know what they were looking at, so... <shrug>I dunno, an 'extra planet' that their 'gods' came from is more fuel for the theory that aliens were poking around
If you've ever spotted the ISS in the sky, it looks just like a star- and depending on the distance/size, mistaking a ship for a planet isn't that crazy.
Hard disagree. NOT being alone is far, FAR more terrifying, especially with the silence that inspired the thought experiment that is the Fermi Paradox.
