I'm trying to change my profile image but apparently none of the images are valid for some reason.
 
Not sure if there is a thread for Celestial type fics (Forge, Grimoire, Menagerie, Bordello, etc) so I figured I'd post here. This could be broadened to other CYOA's or stuff like Chaos Gacha but I mostly see it with Celestial stuff. This is mostly a shout out in general for authors who gives such a system to a canon character as it makes for a really good story. Kudos guys and gals.

SI as Harry Potter doesn't need an extra system as Harry can already do a bunch of stuff with canon magic. Same thing with Naruto which has a jutsu for every situation already made and learnable. But if you give Dudley Dursely for instance the Celestial Grimoire I'm instantly hooked on the premise as that's outside the scope of what was possible in canon in a far more interesting way.

I felt this was strange, but after thinking about it, I agree.

SB will delete content at the drop of a hat, but they usually won't ban you over it.

SV might leave your story posts up, but you'll never hear the end of it and your account it not at all safe.

Maxed out my google storage.

Procrastinating too much at finally downloading everything onto a laptop hard drive or something to clear everything out of my account.

The worst part is can't access my Google Docs now.
I'm gonna have to... *wince* ... actually get up off my ass and grab a notebook to write down my ideas!

Semi-serious. The greater body of humanity truly does not care enough to persecute and/or disparage random unnotables in their ranks, the only expectations that exist are those you hold over yourself. Try (and fail) as many times as you need to if you are set on writing, no one will mind (or care overmuch).

And if along the way you produce something notable to the world, it will be a pleasant surprise. Serious. What do you truly have to lose, other than a few hours of free time per attempt?

Advice. And if you find a WIP that calls out to you unusually strongly, revisit your assorted snips if needed and scavenge elements and/or segments from them freely while developing it. That way, the unfinished ones live on in a fashion within your chosen opus.
 
The sad fact of the internet is that the majority will not notice you until you're successful enough that you will struggle to notice them. Find the few people who keep coming back and cherish them, they're your core audience, and having reliable people can help bolster your spirits.

I didn't notice them until one thread had so many that there were 10+ after a chapter, which sometimes meant no visible discussion on the whole page after a chapter.

And then there was one guy who spammed really short posts to get "first post" after a chapter, and diverted discussion to himself (and how he keeps getting "first post").

In itself it's nothing bad, but in quantity it seems able to crowd out actual discussion, and it's a tool which can be used for assholish off-topic behavior.
 
It's really bloody annoying how people keep simping for Tito just because he kept the Balkans together.

Like, he kept it together in the same sense a prison keeps people together. The various ethnic groups still hated each other, it's just that they were way more scared of being tortured to death alongside their families if they defied him.

It was always going to end badly once he died. Nations can't be forged with just fear and force.

If you want an actual modern historical dictator who managed to unify a dozen different cultures, Lee Kuan Yew is right there. His results are infinitely better than whatever Tito's secret police ever managed.
 
Can't imagine why the partisan leader turned autocrat who prevented genocidal bloodletting for decades and turned a bombed out barely industrialized mountain range into one of the centers of the Unaligned Movement in a region whose name has become a byword for "fragmented, unstable, anarchic and dangerous" and kept the standard of living so high that both Soviet and NATO overtures of political manipulation failed to take root.

It's a fucking mystery that only South Slavs will understand, I guess.
