Quote based Worldbuilding-Game
I have had this idea stuck in my head for way too long now.
~So let's build another world.~

The idea is this:
We are going to design a universe by layering in-universe quotes on top of each other, with one person writing something someone said or wrote in this world and the next providing context (who, when, why, ...) and the next quote.

Rules:
1. New content cannot contradict earlier/established content.
2. Anyone can join in whenever they want, as long as you follow the format.
3. First a person writes down a text, it can be anything from single sentence to grand speech or song, as long as it's not taken from somewhere. Author provides no context for this quote.
4. Next poster replies by adding who said the above quote and providing any additional context for it, then givng their own quote. And so on. Think of it as climatic fragments of fluff from a RPG book or quotes on M:tG cards.
5. Stick to the theme (see Important notice below).
6. Unlike one of my previous threads this is in the sfw section, so take care not to break forum rules by posting nsfw content.

The idea isn't mine, I found other such threads on other forums. You can check out the examples listed below so you can get an idea of what I'm aiming for.

Important notice: Theme
I would like this world to be a dark fantasy world. Like a fantasy version of 40k.
Yes I know Warhammer exists, but I'm specifically aiming for the brand of grimdark apocalyptic dystopian darkness that is 40k.
Life is hard, unjust, and short. Death and corruption lurks in every shadow. Keeping the horrors at bay is a constant struggle.
While moments of levity or peace exist, desperation, sacrifice, and necessary evils are too common.
And yet, humanity clings on by tooth and nail, clawing their way through the abyss.

So with all that out of the way, I'll start:

"Ylana and Sodal were the gods that created the world. Their very bodies formed it. Lika husband and wife they loved each other dearly, and their love and passion gave the world colour, beauty, and grace.
But Sodal died. Murdered by the darkness. His rotting corpse is home to its corruption now, and so our world has become grey and bleak, and full of evil.
Of Ylana the kind nothing is left but grief and fury. It is that grief you feel when you look upon the crawling wretches who embrace the darkness, and that fury you carry into battle to purge them from the world."

OOC: Been a while since I've been here; I'll be busy for a few hours still but I think I can collate all that we have so far.

I mean it's just 3 pages at this point, only two worlds, a few names, organizations and notable dates/events.

WILL COMPLETE LATER

ORDER OF YLANA
"Ylana and Sodal were the gods that created the world. Their very bodies formed it. Lika husband and wife they loved each other dearly, and their love and passion gave the world colour, beauty, and grace.
But Sodal died. Murdered by the darkness. His rotting corpse is home to its corruption now, and so our world has become grey and bleak, and full of evil.
Of Ylana the kind nothing is left but grief and fury. It is that grief you feel when you look upon the crawling wretches who embrace the darkness, and that fury you carry into battle to purge them from the world."
-Scripture of the Order of Ylana, Tome of Justice. Opening text and founding lesson to new Justicars, despite mass controversy of increasing awareness of the Darkness at formative stage of their training.

"By Ylana, the Hive is built around an entire vein of Yagarite! No wonder the basterds are so huge and vicious. And those were just the scouts and outer guardians, I really don't want to know how those that dwell further inside must look. Oh gods, the Hiveking is probably corrupted."
– Grand Inquisitor Oslo Dellas of the Order of Ylana. A day after his discovery is brought before the High Council, the Hive is then immediately nuked by Grand Archwizard Democritus into a nuclear wasteland, which he then transmute into a lush forest that is free of any corruptions after it was sanctified by two priestess of Ylana.

"Death to the wretches, for they revel in the Darkness!

Death to the witches, for they betray us all for corruption's poisoned power!

Death to Ozymandias, for the city has welcomed both into her arms for far too long!

We shall purge them all in cleansing flame! Purifiers! To me!"
– A war chant from a heretical sect of the Order of Ylana as they prepared to launch a genocidal attack upon the city of Ozymandias. Formerly a military wing of the order, Sodal's Vengeance eventually grew more blasphemous, violent and even more fanatical when they began to slaughter anyone who are considered "impure in Ylana's eyes", with their first act of blasphemy being the Jakan Massacre, with the total of 200,589 innocent lives being killed in their blind crusade to save the world. As a result, the Order of Ylana had deemed them as heretics before banishing them forever more.

ORDER OF THE BLAZING FISTS
"I will trample even the most mightiest of demons if it means I can prove you wrong, father! For what I lack in swordsmanship, I make it up with my fists and kicks!"
- Atem Tigris, founder of the Order of Blazing Fists. The order would have initial success and recognition for being effective fighters of the metal-eater Darkspawn breeds, but their constant physical contact with the Darkness would render them a "tainted" order in short order, and thus constantly kept at arms length even by the people they saved.

SISTERHOOD OF THE GREAT SPINNER
"Acolyte Valerie. As you don the armour of the sisterhood, reflect on the choices that have led you here and reaffirm your vows.

Acolyte Valerie. As you take up the arms of the sisterhood, remember your training and reaffirm your vows.

Acolyte Valerie. As you receive the blessing of our lady hold fast to your purpose and reaffirm your vows.

Thrice have you reaffirmd your vows, and thrice have you been heard. You are now a full member of the Sisterhood."
– An excerpt of a congratulatory speech by Mother Antonina, high priestess and leader of the Sisterhood of The Great Spinner. Said deity is the patron god of the Kingdom of Desur, who represent magic, wisdom, stars, knowledge and love.

"Sister Vitvavia. I charge you with a most solemn duty. Find the traitor and deliver our justice to her. Go to the ends of the earth if you have to. You are unbound from the tennants until you return. Do what though must, do whatever is necessary.
And when you find her, don't shoot her in the heart. She has none."

"It will be done. The traitor will die."

"Oh, just in case it wasn't clear. That wasn't metaphorical. Sister Laerlith claims she might literally have no heart anymore..."
– The final conversation between Sister Vitvavia and Sister Shamina, both of the Sisterhood of the Great Spinner. After a few weeks, the treasonous Sister Laerith was found once again, standing side-by-side with the Storm Witch as they and the other creatures of Darkness dances around the bonfire made of unborn fetuses. Fast forward after the battle unfold, Sister Vitvavia finally put an end to Sister Laerith by decapitating her. Meanwhile the Storm Witch flew away.

"Pumpkin Spice Latte? What even is that?"

"A delicious concoction straight of the heaven, Mother Antonina!"

"Preposterous! how can such drink be of any worth at all?!"

2 days later....

SERENTIS GUILD OF ALCHEMISTS
"When it was discovered that blasting powder could fuel a new kind of magic unto itself, it shook every cabal and coven and order. The simple ability to throw a lead ball further, faster, harder, directed by the will of the mind, seemed so simple at a glance. But those in the know and those that first witnessed it firsthand would be swift to realize it's potential course amidst the war against the Darkness.

And much like the first advent of human magic, every realm of demihume or nonhume that acknowledged this new power sentenced any human showing so much of a hint of powder-sense to death."
- Excerpt from the introductionary chapter of the alchemists primer to ritualistic powder consecration by Valenhag Gorendis, Chief Alchemist of the Serentis Guild of Alchemists.

"Up until now, I had been searching for ways to achieve the Final Work. To finally be able to create the impossibility that is the Philosopher's Stone.

"It was until the day I was in my most lowest, after I've lost a dear old pal of mine that I finally got struck with an epiphany.

"All this time, the answer is right here all along. The stone is not an object, it is supposed to be us. We are the Final Works we're looking for!"
- Tian Gorendis, legendary founder of the Serentis Guild of Alchemists. Long before the widespread use of blasting powder Tian experimented with alchemical incendiaries and explosives. Later, he was named Saint Gorendis for using said research and sacrificing himself in a massive conflagoration to make sure an insidious plot by the corrupted to infect the entire city and nearby trading post with the Black Slaughter Fever would be purged in its entirety before the infection could spread beyond hope of containment.
