My breathing calm, I drew one card, then another and another until five cards laid on the table in front of me.

Monster Card
Attribute: Light
Level: 8
Type: Dragon/Effect
ATK: 2500
DEF: 2500
Effect: If this card is Special Summoned: You can add 1 Ritual Spell or 1 "Polymerization" from your Deck to your hand. During your End Phase: You can add 1 Level 8 or higher Dragon monster from your Deck to your hand. You can banish this card from your GY; all Level 8 or higher monsters you control gain 1000 ATK. You can only use each effect of "Blue-Eyes Abyss Dragon" once per turn, and can only activate them while "Blue–Eyes White Dragon" is in your field or in your GY.
Monster Card
Attribute: Dark
Level: 4
Type: Spellcaster/Effect
ATK: 1200
DEF: 1100
Effect: While you control a "Blue-Eyes" monster, you can choose the attack targets for your opponent's attacks. You can only use each of the following effects of "Dictator of D." once per turn. You can send 1 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" from your hand or Deck to the GY; Special Summon this card from your hand. You can discard 1 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" or 1 card that mentions it, then target 1 "Blue-Eyes" monster in your GY: Special Summon it.
Spell Card
Type: Normal
Effect: Discard 1 card; add up to 2 Dragon monsters with 3000 or more ATK and 2500 or less DEF from your Deck to your hand.
Trap Card
Type: Normal
Effect: If you control "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" or "Dark Magician": Negate the effects of all face-up monsters your opponent currently controls, until the end of this turn. You can only activate 1 "Destined Rivals" per turn.
Monster Card
Attribute: Light
Level: 1
Type: Dragon/Tuner/Effect
ATK: 600
DEF: 500
Effect: Once per turn, during the End Phase, if this card is in the GY because it was sent there this turn: You can Special Summon 1 "Blue-Eyes" monster from your Deck. You banish this card from your GY, then target 1 "Blue-Eyes" monster in your GY; add it to your hand. You can only use this effect of "The White Stone of Ancients" once per turn.
It was just about enough to bring a tear to my eye.

I am many things, but Seto Kaiba was not one of them. Seto Kaiba is many things, one of them being willing to put someone in the hospital for refusing to give up one Blue-Eyes White Dragon: and if my theory was correct then he owned three Blue-Eyes White Dragons and I not only owned another set of three but an entire Deck focused around Blue-Eyes monsters, including but not limited to a card based on a jet that Kaiba may or may not have already built.

Despite everything, selling the cards was not an option I was willing to entertain.

I chose to believe that there are rules to this, ones that have to be followed and observed–well, not that it would matter much for Kaiba if he chose to send thugs to beat me up, or if he decided to throw hands as I seriously doubted I would actually stand a chance against him like that. A duel with cards though? I should be able to hold my own. I would still go down fighting either way, of course.

Confused as I still was about all of this, these cards were my lifeline and more.

I put the cards back on top of the deck, picking up and holding them in my hands. "I am sorry you're stuck with me… I promise I will find a way to make it up to you, eventually. Until then, I hope you'll be happy enough to face your… Siblings? No, that's not quite right. What are the five of you…?"

I pondered, and began shuffling.

There were three known parts to my problem, and Kaiba going after me because his wife was cheating on him was the first of them. The next part was Pegasus, but I chose to believe that even he was bound by rules in some way. The Millennium Eye being able to reveal my hand was not all that much of a problem, to be honest; just about everything was rather straightforward to the point I doubted knowing what is in my hand would matter, and my Trap Cards weren't all that… Trappy.

The Millennium Eye being able to read my mind though? That was very much a problem I had to find a way around. I was pretty sure it was only surface level thoughts, rather than a full scan of my mind, but even then… And, of course, the possibility of my soul getting stolen was very concerning, but I was pretty sure he had to win a Duel for that to happen?

Yugi's Grandpa's soul was taken from his body through a magical video tape recording after Yugi lost the Duel without Grandpa even being aware of the Duel happening. I doubted Mokuba would have actually Duelled Pegasus, but his soul was also taken. Kaiba did Duel Pegasus and got his soul stolen. So there was totally a two out of three chance Pegasus couldn't just take a look at me, decide he doesn't like what he can see and read and immediately rip my soul out of my body, right?

I drew again.
Monster Card
Attribute: Light
Level: 8
Type: Dragon/Effect
ATK: 2500
DEF: 2000
Effect: (This card is always treated as a "Blue-Eyes" card.)
This card is treated as a Normal Monster while in the hand or GY. When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can target 1 Spell/Trap your opponent controls: banish it. If your opponent controls a monster (Quick Effect): You can Tribute this card; Special Summon 1 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" from your hand.
Level: 1
Type: Spellcaster/Tuner/Effect
ATK: 0
DEF: 1500
Effect: When this card is Normal Summoned: You can add 1 Level 1 LIGHT Tuner from your Deck to your hand, except "Sage with Eyes of Blue". You can discard this card, then target 1 Effect Monster you control; send it to the GY, and if you do, Special Summon 1 "Blue-Eyes" monster from your Deck. You can only use this effect of "Sage with Eyes of Blue" once per turn.
Monster Card
Attribute: Light
Level: 1
Type: Spellcaster/Tuner/Effect
ATK: 300
DEF: 1200
Effect: When this card is Normal Summoned: You can target 1 Level 1 LIGHT Tuner in your GY: add it to your hand. You can shuffle this card from your GY into the Deck, then target 1 Effect Monster you control; send it to the GY, and if you do, Special Summon 1 "Blue-Eyes" monster from your GY, other than the sent monster. You can only use this effect of "Master with Eyes of Blue" once per turn.
Spell Card
Type: Quick
Effect: During the Main Phase: Fusion Summon 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck that mentions "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" or "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" as material, by shuffling the materials mentioned on it from your hand, field, and/or GY into the Deck, then, you can destroy face-up cards your opponent controls, up to the umber of "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" and "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" used from the field as material. You can only activate 1 "Ultimate Fusion" per turn.
That's… Decent? For the era it would be great… About about the sixth?
Spell Card
Type: Normal
Effect: Discard 1 card; add up to 2 Dragon monsters with 3000 or more ATK and 2500 or less DEF from your Deck to your hand.
Oh, that's practically a win condition, isn't it? Use Melody to Discard Dragon Spirit of White, add Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon, reveal the Vanilla Blue-Eyes, summon Alternative, Normal Summon Master, can't target anything, discard Sage, target Master and send it to the Graveyard to Special Summon Abyss, add Chaos Form to my hand, set Destined Rival and Ultimate Fusion, end turn and add Chaos MAX with Abyss's effect. Ultimate Fusion can work in this circumstance and can be activated during the opponent's turn, Destined Rivals can negate effects if needed. Alternative can destroy a monster, Master can switch Alternative out with Spirit to destroy a backrow card and I'd still have two beat sticks on the field to attack with, then if all goes well I can Ritual Summon Chaos MAX!

"I am also looking forward to the future." I nodded to myself and the deck as I put the cards back to give them another embrace and shuffle.

If "rules" existed then the Heart of the Cards existed. If the cards liked me, then my draws will be good, and if the cards didn't like me then I would draw bricks; that was, at least, my current decision to interpret things. Blue-Eyes probably didn't want or need this sort of loving affection, but I did respect them as well; it was just a matter of finding it difficult to project feelings of respect in comparison to affection and trust with vibes.

All of which brings me to my third problem: Myself.

Truck-kun is merciless.

I searched everywhere in what was apparently my room, finding only camping supplies, a certain glove, two Star Chips, five Decks and an extra set of clothes, along with the general contents of the classy, private, room. I had no wallet, no means of identification, no means of communication–I was pretty sure this was still the era of payphones rather than mobile phones in general–no keys or anything of the sort that might imply that I had a house or home and even if I did have something like that I wouldn't know the address. I had no money, no identity… But I did have a very frightening future, even if there were worse places and circumstances I could have ended up in.

As it stands, my best chance is to win this Duellist Kingdom tournament, get the prize money and use it to make a life for myself; even if that fails, Pegasus is currently one of the most powerful men in the world, isn't he? If I can get on his good side, or at least his pity, he might be able to help me make a life for myself… Or just let me crash on this island until I figure things out. He was a man who could steal souls, but he was still a kind person who loved entertainment and whose wife exploded into rose pedals on their wedding day. Still kind of weird.

Out of five decks, I deemed one to be practically unusable under the rules I imposed on myself out of a mix of pride and concern. One was questionable due to its contents, but it wouldn't entirely be out of place with my expectations for the average duellist in this era; as long as I don't run into any main characters, it might even be fine. The third had potential, so I picked it up to see how the cards felt about me right now.
Trap Card
Type: Normal
Effect: Target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; negate its effects (until the end of this turn), the, if this card was Set before activation and is on the field at resolution, for the rest of this turn all other Spell/Trap effects in this column are negated. If you control no cards, you can activate this card from your hand.
Monster Card
Attribute: Light
Level: 3
Type: Psychic/Tuner/Effect
ATK: 0
DEF: 1800
Effect: When a monster on the field activates its effect, or when a Spell/Trap that is already face-up on the field activates its effect (Quick Effect): You can send this card from your hand to the GY: destroy that card on the field. You can only use this effect of "Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit" once per turn.
Monster Card
Attribute: Earth
Level: 3
Type: Plant/Tuner/Effect
ATK: 800
DEF: 600
Effect: If a face-up Plant monster(s) you control is sent to the GY (except during the Damage Step): You can Special Summon this card from your hand. If a Plant monster is on the field and this card is in your GY: You can add this card to your hand. You can only use 1 "Rose Girl" effect per turn, and only once that turn.
Monster Card
Attribute: Water
Level: 3
Type: Zombie/Tuner/Effect
ATK: 0
DEF: 1800
Effect: During either turn, except in the End Phase (Quick Effect): You can discard this card; apply this effect this turn. You can only use this effect of "Ghost Sister & Spooky Dogwood" once per turn.
● Each time your opponent Special Summons an Effect Monster (s) during the Main Phase or Battle Phase, you gain LP equal to that monster's ATK. If you did not gain LP by this effect, your LP are halved during the End Phase.
Monster Card
Attribute: Dark
Level: 3
Type: Dragon/Tuner/Effect
ATK: 1000
DEF: 1800
Effect: If this card is sent to the GY as Synchro Material: You can Special Summon 1 "Rose Dragon" monster from your hand or Deck, except "Red Rose Dragon", then, if it was sent for the Synchro Summon of "Black Rose Dragon" or a Plant Synchro Monster, you can also add 1 "Frozen Rose" or "Blooming of the Darkest Rose" from your Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Red Rose Dragon" once per turn.
…sixth?
Spell Card
Type: Field
Effect: If a monster(s) is Normal or Special Summoned face-up, except by the effect of "Black Garden": Halve its ATK, then, the controller of that monster Special Summons 1 "Rose Token" (Plant/DARK/Level 2/ATK 800/DEF 800) to their opponent's field in Attack Position. (This ATK loss remains even if this card leaves the field.) You can target 1 monster in your GY with ATK equal to the total ATK of all Plant monsters on the field; destroy this card and as many Plant monsters on the field as possible, then, if you destroyed all of them, Special Summon that targeted monster.
Right. A bit thorny with how close it was yet again, but still beautiful.

I admit that it had been years since I actually watched the Duel Monsters anime, but as far as I could recall, Weevil, Rex and Mai were considered powerful duellists, out of which Weevil's singular monster that I could remember that had more than 1800 ATK required multiple turns to summon, Mai had two that could hit the field at any point, and Rex at least had a Black-Eyes Red Dragon until he lost it in a bet against Joey; and Joey himself, who made it all the way to the finals if I wasn't mistaken, had Red-Eyes and Thousand Dragon. There was also Bandit Keith, Yugi himself, I think Mako Tsunami might be able to get over things, the Paradox Brothers…

As I was forbidding myself from actually Synchro Summoning, the strongest monsters in this deck had 1600 ATK, the strongest had 1700 and there was an equip spell I could use to boost exactly one monster to 1800. Accounting for Black Garden halving the offence of all cards, if I can get a 1600 on the field as well as the Field Spell, it would take a field destruction effect or a monster with 3200 ATK or more to get past me; some of the monsters in this deck also had 1800 DEF, making that a viable strategy as well, since I was only aware of two monsters at this point that had more then 3600 ATK! Unfortunately, this was also the era of "ATTACK THE MOON!", which complicated things slightly.

If the individuals publicly considered to be the most likely to win this were only capable of an average output of 1500 ATK, then the Plant Deck has absolute potential to deal with the unnamed characters, doesn't it?

The fourth deck on the list were the Blue-Eyes, theoretically viable and very capable of bringing me to the end, but if anyone actually saw the original Blue Eyes White Dragons themselves I was pretty sure Kaiba would materialize in my room through the power of money.

The fifth deck–There was a knock at my door. It would be a reasonable thing to just ignore it in these circumstances.

I looked at the deck of cards, then started picking up. I gently opened the door.

"Heyyyyy–" Rather than a suited security officer of some sort standing on the other side, I was greeted by a… Dressed woman. "…You're not Mako Tsunami."

Quick, come up with an excuse! "He jumped off the ship and decided to swim the rest of the way so I took his room."

Mai Valentine blinked, frowning very slightly but not really saying anything about it as she also deemed it probable enough to have happened. I wasn't entirely sure how to describe her state of dress, but continued watching everything but the obvious parts of the corset–was that even a corset or did I get it mixed up with something?–and the short skirt, focusing instead on the purple clothes and the fact she was still holding her bag over her shoulder.
Mai_Valentine_S1.png
I learned a few more things about myself. I was decently tall, enough to be taller than Mai to such a point her pushed up breasts were nearly reaching out and for my face, but not so much that I felt fully confident I was taller than the final boost to her silhouette that her hair gave her. I was also either so weird looking that Mai couldn't stop staring at a living oddity, or so good looking she couldn't help herself from evaluating me closely.

"…Is that so?" After however long we spent observing each other, she continued. "Well, it's a wonderful room even from here! I can see why you'd want to steal it. Can you believe they actually expect the rest of us to–"

"Before you decide on threatening to call the guards on me so you can try and take it for yourself, would you like to come in?"

She pretended–I think–to be offended by the implication. "I would never! But, if you're inviting me in, then I will certainly take you up on that offer."

I stepped aside and closed the door behind her as she went in and started complimenting the room, dishing out occasional complaints about the communal space they expected everyone who hadn't made a name for themselves as a winner of a sufficiently famous tournament. I couldn't really see it though; I spent the better part of an hour at least in this room, and I hadn't even found a mirror to look at myself and confirm what I actually look like; not that I was vain or anything like that, I just was either entirely not in my own body or whoever put me here also decided to eliminate nearly all fat from my body until I was bordering on pure muscle like a sports anime character.

"Say… If you're here, then you must be pretty confident in your Duelling skills, right?"

"I can't imagine myself losing if I don't let the opponent win." While not quite right, there were about twenty-five years of power creep to consider, weren't there?

"Want to play me?" A very concerning question, when one gets down to it. I was sure she swindled Rex Raptor out of his room like this, so why was she here? Did they not happen to run into each other and she was hoping to get Mako like that instead? Why did Mako have a room anyway? I thought he was just some freaky fish guy? "Come on… Friendly match, and loser does any one thing the winner says."

Silence, thot, I am having existential questions about the nature of local reality and my role within it. I sure hope I wasn't the protagonist of this story. That would suck.

"Sorry, spaced out for a moment." Do I actually give her a chance, or do I go all out? It wasn't like I could consult the cards and see what deck gives me the better opening hand without being suspicious. "Sure, let's play. Two thousand life points and no direct attacks?"

{1}

Everything was still very table top at this point, no fancy holograms built into the ship, neither of us aware of ancient powers that would make the cards real… So it was just a couple of sofas and a coffee table between us.

I made my decision on what I was playing as soon as Mai took out her cards and awoke a particular memory. Soon after that, we shuffled each other's decks for the sake of mutual fairness and then Mai laid down her cards and began her performance.

"The card I play first is… Harpie Lady!" Without actually looking at her cards, she simply lifted one of the face-down cards and revealed it at the very end with all the drama of someone pretending to be psychic.
Monster Card
Attribute: Wind
Level: 4
Type: Winged-Beast/Normal
ATK: 1300
DEF: 1400
Flavour Text: This human-shaped animal with wings is beautiful to watch but deadly in battle.
It would probably be an impressive feat if not for the fact I could smell the perfume on my hands from her cards; I was still very impressed though, mainly by the fact she could even tell upwards of forty different perfumes in a close enough proximity with the detail needed to predict every individual card before she plays it.

"I then set a card and end my turn."

I kept my face carefully neutral as I looked at my hand in response to her intimidating field.
Monster Card
Attribute: Dark
Level: 4
Type: Fairy/Effect
ATK: 1800
DEF: 0
Effect: If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can add 1 "Branded" Spell/Trap from your Deck to your hand. If a face-up Fusion Monster you control is destroyed by battle, or leaves the field because of an opponent's card effect, while this card is in your GY: You can target 1 Effect Monster your opponent controls; Special Summon this card, and if you do, negate the targeted monster's effect until the end of this turn. You can only use 1 "Aluber the Jester of Despia" effect per turn, and only once that turn.
Monster Card
Attribute: Dark
Level: 8
Type: Dragon/Effect
ATK: 2500
DEF: 2000
Effect: This card's name becomes "Fallen of Albaz" while on the field or in the GY. If this card is in your hand or GY; you can special send 1 "Fallen of Albaz" or 1 "Branded" Spell/Trap from your hand or Deck to the GY; apply the following effect based on where you sent it from:
● Hand: Special Summon this card.
● Deck: Place this card on the bottom of the Deck, then, if you placed this card from your hand, draw 1 card.
You can only use this effect of "Albion the Shrouded Dragon" once per turn.
Monster Card
Attribute: Dark
Level: 6
Type: Dragon/Effect
ATK: 2500
DEF: 2000
Effect: You can target 1 LIGHT or DARK monster in either GY; banish it, and if you do, Special Summon this card from your hand. This is a Quick Effect if your opponent controls a monster. If this card is sent to the GY: You can send 1 "Bystal" monster or 1 "Branded" Spell/Trap from your Deck to the GY, except "Bystal Saronir". You can only use each effect of "Bystal Saronir" once per turn.
Trap Card
Type: Normal
Effect: Target 1 "Fusion" or "Polymerization" Normal or Quick-Play Spell in either GY; banish that Spell, then apply that Spell's effect when that card is activated. You can only activate 1 "Fusion Duplication" per turn.
Monster Card
Attribute: Light
Level: 4
Type: Spellcaster/Tuner/Effect
ATK: 1500
DEF: 1500
Effect: If your opponent controls more monsters than you do, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). You can only Special Summon "Incredible Ecclesia, the Virtuous" once per turn this way. You can only use each of the following effects of "Incredible Ecclesia, the Virtuous" once per turn. During the Main Phase (Quick Effect): You can Tribute this card: Special Summon 1 "Swordsoul" monster or 1 "Fallen of Albaz" from your hand or Deck. During the End Phase, if a Fusion Monster(s) was sent to the GY this turn: You can add this card from the GY to your hand.
How am I supposed to get over a 1300 ATK vanilla monster and a set card? "My turn. Draw."
Monster Card
Attribute: Dark
Level: 4
Type: Dragon/Effect
ATK: 1800
DEF: 1300
Effect: If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can discard 1 card, add 1 "Polymerization" Normal Spell or "Fusion" Normal Spell from your Deck to your hand. You can reveal 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck; Special Summon 1 of the Fusion Materials mentioned on that monster from your GY, in face-down Defence Position. You can only use each effect of "Keeper of Dragon Magic" once per turn. You cannot Special Summon from the Extra Deck, except Fusion Monsters, the turn you activate either of this card's effects.
…Well, that's another direction to take this turn, isn't it? It might be a little more streamlined if nothing else.

"As you control more monsters than I do, I can activate the effect of Incredible Ecclesia, the Virtuous to Special Summon her from the hand, in Attack Position."

Mai's confident expression vanished almost instantly. "That's… The most text I've ever seen on a card."

"I then Normal Summon Keeper of Dragon Magic in Attack Position, and activate her effect." …that's a breast plate, right? There was actually a very good reason to keep track of the gender of cards, but there was an absence of an indication which one applied here. "By discarding a card," Aluber, "I can add Branded Fusion to my hand."
Spell Card
Type: Normal
Effect: Fusion Summon 1 Fusion Monster that mentions "Fallen of Albaz" as material from your Extra Deck, using 2 monsters from your hand, Deck or field. You cannot Special Summon from the Extra Deck, except Fusion Monsters, the turn you activate this card. You can only activate 1 "Branded Fusion" per turn.
"I then activate the effect of Albion the Shrouded Dragon, sending my Branded Fusion to the Graveyard and Special Summoning him from my hand in Attack Position. Then, I target my Aluber, banishing him to Special Summon Bystal Saronir in Attack Position."

"H-Hey… About that bet we made…" She was still trying really hard with her tone, but it was obvious she was thrown massively off her game.

Do I trust that to be honest, or do I call her lost expression a bluff? "…My Albion attacks your Harpie Lady."

"I activate Cyber Shield!" Ah, good old Duellist Kingdom Rules, when you could activate just about any Spell Card like it was a Trap.
Spell Card
Type: Normal
Effect: The equipped monster gains 500 ATK.
The rules did not prevent the use of the card either way, so I said nothing. I was also partly distracted by the card's text, as it did not limit itself to just Harpie Lady and could therefore, in theory, be applied to anyone. There were certainly other cards that increased a monster's attack by the same amount, or more, but the distinct thing about Cyber Shield is that it was bikini armour with spikes for nipples and that invoked certain imagery with certain cards.

"Don't think this is over just because you destroyed my Harpie Lady!"

With Mai's field now empty though, and the rules preventing direct attacks, "I end my turn."

"I draw! I set one card, and then I summon Harpie's Pet Dragon!"
Monster Card
Attribute: Wind
Level: 7
Type: Dragon/Effect
ATK: 2000
DEF: 2500
Effect: Gains 300 ATK/DEF for each "Harpie Lady" on the field.
"As it is the Main Phase, I activate the Quick Effect of my Ecclesia, tributing her to summon Fallen of Albaz from my Deck."
Monster Card
Attribute: Dark
Level: 4
Type: Dragon/Effect
ATK: 1800
DEF: 0
Effect: If this card is Normal or Special Summoned (except during the Damage Step): You can discard 1 card; Fusion Summon 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck using monsters on either field, including this card, but you cannot use other monsters you control as material. You can only use this effect of "Fallen of Albaz" once per turn.
"Then you've given my Harpie's Pet Dragon a target to attack!"

"Really?" Not quite what I expected from someone who commented on a card's text. Then again, I suppose that the possibility of summoning a 0 DEF monster facedown was not much of a threat to her.

Regardless, the attack went through, reducing my Life Points to 1800 compared to her 1300; though despite the difference, she was quite confident again.

"Using higher attack points isn't everything, you know?"

"My turn. Draw."
Monster Card
Attribute: Light
Level: 8
Type: Spellcaster/Effect
ATK: 2500
DEF: 2500
Effect: During the Main Phase, if a monster Special Summoned from the Extra Deck is on the field (Quick Effect): You can Special Summon this card from your hand, then if you control another "Dogmatika" monster, you can negate the effects of 1 face-up monster on the field, until the end of this turn. When your "Dogmatika" monster declares an attack: You can make all "Dogmatika" monsters you control gain 500 ATK. You can only use each effect of "Dogmatika Fleurdelis, the Knighted" once per turn.
I simply had to hope whatever she set in her backrow wasn't going to activate early enough. "I activate my Trap Card, Fusion Duplication, allowing me to replicate and use the effects of my Branded Fusion by banishing it. By doing so, I am able to use monsters from my hand, Deck or field for this Fusion and as such, I fuse my Albion with Bystal Druiswurm from my Deck to summon Lubellion the Searing Dragon."
Monster Card
Attribute: Light
Level: 8
Type: Dragon/Fusion/Effect
ATK: 2500
DEF: 3000
1 DARK monster + "Fallen of Albaz"
Effect: If this card is Fusion Summoned: You can discard 1 card, Fusion Summon 1 Level 8 or lower Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, except "Lubellion the Searing Dragon", by shuffling Fusion Materials mentioned on it into the Deck, from your monsters on the field, GY, and/or face-up banished cards. For the rest of this turn, this card cannot attack, also you cannot Special Summon from the Extra Deck except Fusion Monsters. You can only use this effect of "Lubellion the Searing Dragon" once per turn.
"By discarding a card, I can then Fusion Summon by shuffling Albion, whose name remains Fallen of Albaz in my Graveyard, Fleurdelis and Bystal Druiswurm to meet the requirements to summon The Dragon that Devours the Dogma."
Monster Card
Attribute: Dark
Level: 8
Type: Beast/Fusion/Effect
ATK: 3000
DEF: 2500
"Fallen of Albaz" + 1 LIGHT or DARK monster + 1 Effect Monster
Effect: While an "Ecclesia" monster is on the field or in either GY, this card gains 500 ATK, also it is unaffected by other cards' effects. You can only use each effect of the following effects of "The Dragon that Devours the Dogma" once per turn. If this card is Special Summoned: You can shuffle up to 2 cards from any GY(s) and/or banishment into the Deck. During the End Phase, if this card is in the GY because it was sent there this turn: You can add 1 "Dogmatika" or "Tri-Brigade" card from your Deck to your hand.
"I will shuffle my banished Branded Fusion and Aluber back into the deck, and then enter the Battle Phase. My Dragon that Devours the Dogma attacks your Pet Dragon."

Mai's stunned silence was the closest I had to a dramatic ending; at least until she slumped forward in defeat. "That's so unfair."

Sorry, but I don't really have a medium strength option, and you're way too strong for the Roses to be effective. "Good game."

"It only lasted four turns!" Could I have ended it on the second turn if I was more aware of the cards and combos I had? "You're way too strong."

"Thank you, I am doing my best. As for our bet…"

Mai had a distinct look on her face akin to a moe anime character trying to get out of a situation by being way too cute to face consequences for their actions; an impressive evolution on the standard puppy dog eyes. It was admittedly working, to an extent.

"If you have an extra copy of it, I wouldn't mind a Cyber Shield."

"…what?"

"I find myself curious about its interaction with the holographic technology." Mai looked at me like I just told her I'd rather fuck my cards than her.

…now that I think about it, that might be exactly what I said, wasn't it?

"It might be an unusual request, but I do wonder… Just what were you expecting me to ask you for? Who knows? Maybe you can still convince me to change my mind."

Honestly part of me couldn't help but feel curious if she'd actually try to get in bed with me just to avoid having to go back to the shared space with the… In the kindest way, extras. Wow, that just felt wrong even just saying it in my head–and Mai's starting to take her clothes off. Informative, but premature I suppose… Unless we were now playing chicken to see who backs down first, or simply says it outright as if it was a power game.

"I should be surprised, but it does make sense you'd keep your Cyber Shield under your clothes."

…another thought I never considered, do they unironically use Yu-Gi-Oh terms and such during dirty talk? Frankly, I think I'd die.

...fell into a bit of a fugue state this week
Suddenly, I have this and five Decks on my table, not in that order

This is honestly a "no thoughts, head empty" kind of fic that has way too many thoughts inside as I keep writing down pretty much everything that comes to mind

Plans? Perhaps
I have like, two thoughts about things that could happen, one of which requires we reach the Battle City Arc and the other requires Pegasus, but neither of which are complete thoughts

Smut? Vibe Check. There are only a few human (or, well not "human") options around I'd consider, so honestly I haven't formed an opinion yet

Stacking the deck? Yesn't
I feel that some draws may or may not need to be fudged for the drama, but most of them are focused on stacking the opponent's deck instead of the MC's (Whose name is... Dion? Albaz (Weird Al?)? Activateo Kaiba?) who I am currently and firmly planning on just making all the draws for myself with the physical cards and writing out what happens
What the MC actually looks like? No idea. I am strongly considering making a follow-up joke to "built like an anime character" as "built like a hentai character", but that is as far as I've gotten

Joining the Main Characters? Currently, there are no plans for that. There is a technicality much later on, but here and now it's pretty much just him for however long it actually takes to enter Pegasus's Castle as it would probably be a bit difficult to avoid Yugi's gang when under the same roof as them
Doesn't mean he can't fight named characters along the way, but I am not sure who and where

As I said, no thoughts, head empty, pure vibe posting because all of my projects have hit walls in my head due to being concerned about the quality of commissions, having gone too far too fast or simply questioning potential plot points so much that out of nearly infinite options none of them actually fit together in a pleasant way. Meanwhile, I find it therapeutic to just type and now here we are!
And here's hoping at least some of you will stay for some reason
