Rule 8 Clarification

By all I've seen, this is most likely fine, and honestly have seen worse posted here. Apologies if similar have been asked, but I've looked through a good chunk of this forum and not found a decisive answer.

Essentially, broad politics, and rule 8. I've, a couple times, wanted to make a joke in threads about the military industrial complex, or something similarly relevant to the story, but figured there might be a line I'm not seeing somewhere.

The general consensus I've seen is 1. Don't soapbox, which I would not be unless "haha military industrial complex moment" counts. 2. Don't cause a flamewar. I would figure that nobody would do so over that, but I've seen crashouts over far less. I figured it better to ask a dumb question than get schwacked.

Tldr: is my understanding of this correct?

Ok: "lmao military industrial complex moment"

Borderline: "lmao Reagan moment"

Not ok: "lmao (insert politician of last 20 years here) moment"

This is about right. In general, extremely vague and broad topics like "the military-industrial complex" aren't against Rule 8 to just mention. If you find yourself getting in arguments about them, that's when you should be careful.
