Jaune Arc, Single Father 28 New
The JNPR common room was lively with the usual morning chatter and the clatter of utensils on plates when the door swung open and Penny Polendina stepped inside, bright smile already in place.

"Salutations, Friend Ruby! Hello, Friend Yang! Hello, Friend Weiss! Hello, Friend Blake! Hello, Friend Nora! Hello, Friend Ren! Hello, Friend Pyrrha!" She paused, scanning the room until her gaze landed on Jaune. "Hello, Friend Jaune!"

"Hello!" Jaune grinned, as everyone else returned Penny's cheerful greeting with varying levels of enthusiasm. Penny smiled back.

Then her eyes dropped to the small blonde girl sitting on Jaune's lap, happily eating a muffin.

Penny tilted her head.

"Why do you have a smaller, female, half-Faunus duplicate of yourself, Friend Jaune?"

Jaune nearly choked and smiled in confusion.

"Uh, this is my daughter, Mia."

Mia waved cheerfully, ears perking up.

"Hello!"

Penny's smile widened instantly.

"Hello, Friend Mia! You are very small and cute!"

"Hee! Thank you!" Mia giggled, clearly delighted by the compliment.

Penny leaned in a little closer, curiosity sparkling in her green eyes. "Where did you come from?"

"My parents!" Mia answered proudly.

Jaune nodded. "Yes."

Penny's head tilted even further.

"So… did you make her yourself?"

Jaune's brain short-circuited. "Huh? What? No!"

Mia, trying to be helpful, added, "The stork brought me!"

Penny's eyes widened. "The stork? How? That is illogical! How do storks participate in human and Faunus reproduction? How do babies come about?"

Mia blinked. "Huh?"

Yang, who had been lounging on the couch, suddenly grinned wickedly. She reached over and gently covered Mia's ears with both hands.

"Sex," she said cheerfully.

Jaune sputtered, nearly choking on his cookie again. "YANG!"

"Seriously?!" Ruby demanded.

"What? I covered her ears!"

Penny's head tilted the other way. "Hm. Interesting. I looked up the term 'sex' but all search results were quarantined off by my father and General Ironwood."

The entire room went dead silent. Nora blinked, but didn't stop eating her pancakes.

Penny blinked innocently.

"…On my scroll! Which I quickly used to look up 'sex!' Like a normal human girl!" She hiccuped.

Blake muttered under her breath, "That's… not untrue."

Weiss turned bright red. "Wha— You perverted creature, you—!"

Blake raised an eyebrow at Weiss. "So if I were to hand me your scroll right now and we went through your search history, you'd be squeaky clean?"

Weiss stared.

Blake stared back.

Weiss immediately yanked out her scroll and started frantically deleting things.

Blake smirked. "That's what I thought."

Yang leaned over, looking concerned as Weiss kept scrolling and deleting at lightning speed. "Good gods, girl… at least use the private tabs."

"Seriously," Nora said sagely. Ren nodded in agreement, his eyes momentarily haunted.

Meanwhile, Mia squirmed under Yang's hands. "What are they talking about, Papa—?"

Jaune's face was bright red. "I'll tell you when you're older!"

"But—"

"When you're older!"

Mia pouted but eventually nodded, accepting the mysterious adult rule for now.

Jaune Arc, Single Father 29 New
Last one for today...
- - -

The window to the RWBY dorm slid open with a familiar creak.

Qrow Branwen slipped inside like he owned the place, boots landing lightly on the floor despite the bottle in his hand. Yang looked up from the kitchenette, wearing a pink apron with little strawberries on it, and rolled her eyes.

"Uncle Qrow. You know there's a door, right?"

"Yeah, but windows are more fun," he grinned, taking a swig from his flask. "Besides, doors are for people who aren't trying to avoid Ozpin's paperwork."

Yang was in the middle of making snacks: Cutting apples into bunny shapes and arranging cupcakes on a plate, while Mia sat at the small table, swinging her legs and coloring.

Mia looked up at the newcomer, wrinkled her nose, and declared loudly, "You're smelly and weird."

Qrow barked out a short laugh. "Kid's not wrong."

Yang snorted, wiping her hands on the apron. "Mia, this is my Uncle Qrow. He's… an acquired taste."

Mia tilted her head, ears twitching. "Like pickles?"

"Exactly like pickles," Qrow agreed, amused.

Yang finished plating the snacks and brought them over, the strawberry apron still tied neatly around her waist. She looked every bit the picture of domestic warmth as she set the plate down and gently adjusted Mia's napkin.

Qrow leaned against the wall, watching the scene with a faint, almost wistful smile.

Yang caught the look and raised an eyebrow. "What are you smirking about, old man?"

Qrow took another slow sip from his flask, eyes softening. "Just… you in an apron, playing mom. Making bunny-shaped apples and everything. Reminds me of Summer. The way she used to take care of you and Ruby when you were little. Same energy."

Yang's face instantly turned bright red. "S-Shut up! It's not like that!"

Mia, who had been happily munching on an apple bunny, suddenly perked up and announced with zero filter:

"I want Yang to be my new mama! She'd be great!"

Qrow's grin widened, sharp and teasing. "Oh? Is that so?"

Yang nearly dropped the plate she was holding. "Mia-!"

She quickly stuffed a whole cupcake into the little girl's mouth to cut her off, cheeks burning even brighter.

"Nah! She's just a kid!" Yang laughed nervously, waving her hands. "Kids say weird stuff all the time! So what if I like Jaune a little? It doesn't mean anything! We're just friends! Totally normal friends!"

Qrow raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying a single word. His smirk grew into something knowing and far too amused.

"Uh-huh."

Mia chewed the cupcake with big, innocent eyes, then swallowed and tried again. "But Auntie Yang likes Papa and—"

"Another cupcake!" Yang squeaked, shoving a second one into Mia's mouth before she could finish.

Qrow chuckled lowly, shaking his head as he watched his niece fluster and flail.

"Relax, Firecracker. Your secret's safe with me… for now."

Yang groaned, burying her face in her hands while Mia happily munched away, completely oblivious to the chaos she'd just caused.

Qrow just took another sip from his flask, still smiling faintly.

Summer would've loved this.

Of course, if Ruby was also into the blonde doofus... Well. He'd have to kick his ass.

He seemed like a good dad. So he wouldn't beat him up too hard. But it was the only way to keep blonde doofuses from thinking they could build a harem.

Love how the parents are shipping their daughters with Parent!Jaune.....probably because they realise how much of a mess their daughters are and they're gonna need all the help they can get.

Can't wait for Blake's mother.

Kali:......

Blake:......

Kali:....So about that Arc boy.

Blake: Already working on it.

For the various characters' reactions to Mia: I'd like to think Ironwood would be professional... right until he's alone where he cracks a smile and gushes in private.

Velvet and Coco would take her out shopping and get her a new wardrobe, along with a album's worth of photos.

Torchwick... nobody knows what happened for real, but several toy stores were robbed and the contents ended up in JNPR's dorm.

For Torchwick, I can think of two scenarios off the top of my head.

The first, which is honestly a stretch to me: Torchwick gets stupid or desperate enough to grab Mia as a hostage and therefore gets to experience firsthand what Jaune is like in Papa Wolf mode.

The second is that Neo sends him photos of her with Mia via Scroll and the sight is enough to have Torchwick start quietly altering the plans for Beacon's Fall to save as many kids as he can manage. He may be a thief and be forced into terrorism, but he still has standards. Some of the White Fang may even work with him on that if they figure out what he's doing and why. Adam wouldn't (unless you want to give him some small redeeming quality) but the less extreme cell members might.

Just had a third. One of the White Fang cell members gets the 'bright idea' to kidnap Mia as a hostage and does so. Roman immediately clocks this as a TERRIBLE idea after she is brought to the hideout he's staying at, sets up a peaceful return to Jaune under flag of truce (metaphorically speaking), and we have a scene of Roman interacting with and needing to entertain Mia while waiting for the handoff.

ok, we have the opportunity to combine 2 of ATJ's stories: Jaune Arc, Single Father and The Philosophy Knight.
tl:dr- Adam has to chose between being Jaune's nemesis vs. knowing the Jaune would go Full Papa Wolf.

The Dr. Doom and Reed Richard rivalry could funtion as a example on how they could go foward, as in Dr. Doom would died for Valeria but still would do his upmost to defeat Reed.

Whiter Rose: The Proposal New
The Aslanmas lunch had been perfect—elegant but not stuffy, held in the glass-walled conservatory of one of Atlas's oldest restaurants, overlooking the snow-covered botanical gardens below. Ruby and Whitley had enjoyed it. Ruby had filled most of the time with her chatter, asked thoughtful questions, and blushed every time Whitley's hand found hers under the table. Whitley had been quiet. Even quieter than usual.

Now the two of them strolled a lighted path through the gardens themselves. Snow fell in fat, lazy flakes, catching in Ruby's dark hair like stars. Something Whitley stared at intensely.

Whitley's heart hammered so loudly he was sure Ruby could hear it. The small velvet box in his coat pocket felt like it weighed a hundred pounds.

He stopped beneath a wrought-iron arch heavy with frost-laden evergreens. Ruby paused beside him, tilting her head.

"Everything okay?" she asked, silver eyes soft with concern.

Whitley swallowed. He'd rehearsed this a hundred times—elegant words, perfect phrasing—but every script fled his mind the moment he looked at her.

"Ruby," he started, voice quieter than he intended. "I… need to say something."

She waited, patient as always. Snowflakes melted on her lashes.

He took both her gloved hands in his.

"I used to think the world was a ledger," he said. "Assets and liabilities, numbers and variables. Influence and control. My father taught me that love was just another transaction—something you leveraged or lost." His throat tightened. "I was cruel because I was terrified of being weak. Of being worthless if I didn't win."

Ruby's fingers squeezed his gently. She didn't interrupt; she never did when someone was finally being honest.

"Then you crashed into my life—literally, sometimes—and you… you never treated people like numbers. You saw worth in everyone. Even me, when I gave you every reason not to." He laughed, a small, shaky sound. "You believed I could be better. And somehow, because you believed it, I started to."

He dropped to one knee in the snow, not caring that the cold soaked through his trousers. The box came out with fingers that barely trembled.

Ruby's eyes widened.

"I don't have a grand speech," Whitley said, opening the box to reveal a ring—white gold shaped like delicate rose petals, set with a single ruby that caught the garden lights like captured starlight. "I just know that every day since the war ended, I've woken up wanting to be the kind of man who deserves to stand next to you. Not because of my name or money or anything I can give you—because I want to spend the rest of my life trying to make you as happy as you've made me."

He looked up at her, blue eyes steady despite the tears threatening.

"Ruby Rose, will you marry me?"

For a heartbeat, the only sound was snow falling.

Then Ruby dropped to her knees too, right there in the snow, cupping his face in her mittened hands.

"Yes," she whispered, laughing through sudden tears. "Yes, of course, you ridiculous, wonderful man."

She kissed him—fierce and sweet and tasting of winter air and hot chocolate from lunch. Whitley's arms went around her, ring box forgotten in the snow as he held her like she was the only real thing in the universe.

Is it weird I find it more fitting for Willow x Ironwood pairing to be named Corsage?

Like Corsage to my knowledge is a gift from Man to Woman, for a formal occasion.

But then again, both Willow and Ironwood have something related to trees in their name.
I thought of corsage because they're typically given for prom.

Which is basically a low class party pretending to be high class.

Felt fitting for these two.

That fits for a lot of pairs to be honest. Like Ironwood x Willow I mentioned.

Actually it suits willow x jacques even better considering "Low class party pretending high class* is the their relationship dynamic(Jacques only using Willow to grow his ego)

It still kinda bugs me how the effectiveness of silver eyes against Cinder is inversely proportional considering Ruby's training and the amount of Grimm on Cinder.

First time use vs Cinder with only a Grimm parasite in her glove- instant KO

Second time vs Cinder with Grimm arm- stunned for a few seconds

Third time, after a training arc, vs Cinder with full Grimm arm- annoyed her

1: I feel like Ruby struggles against neo, because of how well neo matches her agility. And how much physically stronger she seems

2: I think eventually Ruby will likely surpass cinder and be able to defeat her

3 I personally think yang woukd do slightly better but Weiss would lose just as bad

4 I consider yang/Ruby to be the heaviest hitter. Mostly yang though, she seems to have the most consistent level of power

5i think Weiss' semblance has the greatest potential

6rooting Ruby, betting a close fight but Ruby takes it.

7 I would love for silver eyes to get expanded a little and allow Ruby to use it in combat a little more outside of fighting Grimm

8 personally I highly think summoning suits her slightly more but I liked glyphs 200x more, she also fought better when she had glyphs

Ruby struggles against Neo because Neo is a more experienced fighter who is very similar to her/Blake in how they use their semblance to dodge damage. Plus Neo's semblance is more broken than hers. Although we DO see Ruby get the upper hand on Neo at one point during the bridge fight.

Ruby will never be conventionally stronger than Cinder but her eyes render that moot.

I think Yang vs Neo would be much closer but Neo gets a major power boost from the EA so still the same result. Weiss would definitely beat Vernal.

Yang is the heaviest hitter but Weiss is not far behind with her summons.

Weiss's semblance is the best of the bunch and the most wide-ranging as well.

Ruby probably takes it just because she is too fast for Blake to trick out effectively but its not like Blake can't win.

I feel like Silver Eyes should definitely be stronger - maybe they should affect magic as well, including dust - but I can see why the showrunners restrained that.

Weiss should use all the skills she has in conjunction. Summon at the start or with Glyphs as cover, use the summon to slip in and deal fencing damage or Glyph damage, just generally overwhelm her opponent with her extra numbers + her skills.

Ruby struggles against all humans because she grew up thinking she would only have to kill monsters, so when she discovered that some humans were as bad as monsters, too, she didn't really have a way to apply her skills to fight them.

Yang would have lasted longer, but she doesn't really have a way to beat Neo's illusions. If Neo feels like she's losing, she would just leave. Weiss would win her fight; that defeat was during the time she didn't know how to evolve her fighting style, so she was really awkward with her summoning. Current Weiss wouldn't lose against her.

Yang.

Weiss' has the most potential, but if they were able to be more creative with Ruby's it would bee too op. (Matter disintegration is no joke.)

Blake (Ruby doesn't know how to fight humans)

Silver eyes are okay like that.

Weiss' current fighting style is perfect for her.

Note: Ruby has gotten better at fighting humans, but she doesn't have the experience to best other characters specialized (used to) in fighting humans.

Myrkanoon • 8h ago

1- Because Neo is far superior in combat? Ruby realistically cant surprass Cinder. Using Neo for comparison, Cinder managed to give her a difficult battle without using weapons. If you put her swords, bow and MAIDEN POWERS in the equation... F Rubes 🥀

2- Nope. Yang and Weiss would give a more difficult fight, specially Weissy, but the results would be the same.

3- Yang is the answer, with Ruby in second. But some of Weiss's invocations can hit harder than Ruby.

4- In order: Weiss, Yang/Ruby and Blake.

5- I consider Ruby having a edge in overall power, but against Blake i think its a 50/50.

6- No, its already OP lol

7- Glyphs suits her better, but i prefer both :3

RoystonDA • 5h ago
1: Neo is a dodge/redirect fighter, which is typically depicted as a tough opponent in media. She had no problem with Yang, who is strength based. Ruby had the same problem despite being speed/agile based, but seems to be physically weaker. Neo took on Cinder pretty evenly who is considerably more powerful than Yang, and more agile than Ruby. But Raven made her run. She showed fear. We know now that Raven is a Maiden like Cinder, but she has more experience. It is likely that Raven is more skilled in all areas and overwhelms Neo that she cannot simply redirect her attacks without taking some hits in the process. Unless Ruby ups her strength and fighting style - the latter comes with experience - she won't be able to take Neo in a 1v1 without getting lucky.

2: I don't think Ruby is supposed to surpass Cinder, but RWBY may. Cinder, as of Vol 3, is a Maiden and under the tutelage of Salem. She has a lot in her favour. Cinder, Emerald and Mercury only defeated Amber out of ambush. And I don't recall any other Maiden so far being defeated by a non-Maiden.

3: Yang vs Neo would result in the same way. Yang has developed a lot as a fighter, even so much as helping defeat Adam, but she is by no means advanced enough to defeat Neo. As mentioned in point 1, even Cinder struggled against her.

As for Weiss vs Vernal, Weiss' biggest opponent during their last fight was actually her own timing. I think it is fair to say it was her worst performance as a fighter because she was trying so hard to summon instead of waiting for an opening. Her attacks are agile, fast, has variety, and can pack a punch, but she wasted so much time on a new skill she hadn't developed. And while she struggled against Vernal for this reason, let's not forget she lost the fight, not to Vernal, but to Cinder. Weiss has since had time to better train her summoning and has more experience fighting more varied opponents. I think Vernal would be in trouble.

4: Each member has a different strength. Ruby is the fastest, and her semblance can be utilized in a crazy scary way we haven't seen since the food fight. Weiss is the most skilled and varied fighter, she truly is a wild card due to her glyphs. Blake is the sneakiest and is the hardest to hit. If she can out manoeuvre her opponent she can cause trouble. Yang is physically the strongest, and arguably the one who has evolved her fighting style and attitude the most over the course of the series. Even in Vol 3 she was put forward in the tournament in the team, and considering she 1v2 Flynt and Neon while Weiss got char grilled, goes to show she started at a high standard. My choice by Vol 9 would probably be the same as yours, Ruby or Yang, but leaning more to Yang as she is more consistent. If Ruby actually used her strengths more then I'd go with her.

5: Completely agree that Weiss has the most potential. But I think hers goes even further in a support capacity. We already saw how she boosted Blake in the Mech Roman fight in Vol 2, and we saw how dust completely overhauled Blake's semblance capabilities. Much like Jaune, her strength shines by making others stronger. She is incredibly skilled in her own right, but her semblance can offer so much to others, which I think was highlighted perfectly in early volumes.

6: I would say Ruby takes it. I read a few replies suggesting Blake can't fight humans, but she defeated Roman in Vol 2 solo, and she 2v1 with Yang vs Adam in a later volume. But as skilled as she is, she is slippery to most, but Ruby is faster, which is a bad pairing for her.

7: I think making Silver Eyes stronger outside of Grimm would be making it overpowered and ignoring their intended purpose. Why would effect anything non-Grimm? Cinder is shown to be infused with a Grimm and is the only person to be harmed, evident in the Vol 5 finale where in an entire room, only she was effected. Expanding the effects of the eyes with magic or dust would be interesting but only in how it effects Grimm. Ruby already has 2 super powers. She doesn't need them to become Superman levels of overpowered.

8: Mild clarification, it is all her semblance. Her semblance is glyphs which include summoning. But her summoning is her least developed as she was never able to perform it earlier. That said, if she focused 100% on her summoning she will be at her weakest. 0% on summoning is her comfort zone. If she learned to balance between the two, I think she'd become stronger than Winter who, if I recall, is entirely a duelist/summoner and does not utilize her other glyphs anywhere nearly as much as Weiss.

Akumu_Oukoku • 8h ago

Ruby struggles with humans in general. Neo has years more experience, a better semblance, and is much more agile. Neo is also smaller than Ruby, giving her a hard target to hit with CR.

Ruby does not need to surpass Cinder; Ruby has an instant win button in her head.

IV9 Weiss & V9 Yang would do a lot better, but I do see V9 Weiss beating Vernal. Weiss is not stronger than her, but she has a lot more tools in her kit and (admittedly) is a lot smarter. I don't see Yang soloing Neo any time soon ( or most people for that matter )

Yang is the heaviest conventional hitter, but Weiss is the heaviest *potential* hitter given the right setup. (Glyph Skill Stacking)

Weiss has the most powerful semblance hands down. It has nearly limitless capabilities and just continues to get stronger with each Grimm she kills and each new element she masters. Time, Gravity, Friction, Vector-based movement, elemental control, the ability to control dust from a distance, it's pretty much magic, but the Schnee-mart Great Value version.

Ruby. It would be a cool fight, but Ruby would probably come out on top between her and Blake.

I like the best as Grimm-only powers. Maybe give her a Spidey sense for Grimm and a passive immunity to their powers.

I like a mix of both the summoning and Glyphs. I'd like to see her do more blending between the two forms, and in the chess fight, we seem to be getting just that. I also think she tends to rely more on her summons in a group fight because it lets her better control the field to help her friends. However, on its own, it would be cool to see her go into that hyper-aggressive style she had in V1-3, with Arma backing her up, like a 2nd-string hitter. Like she goes in and pierces the defenses, and then Arma just shows up as a heavy finishing hit in a combo.

Okay, random idea:

Salem as it turns out DOES have a similar immortality style as Ozpin: She was just transformed by her dip in the Grimm pit so she's REALLY hard to kill. But Summer managed to do it... And then was possessed by Salem herself. So, how does this change the story?
