So far we've just had an attack by 2 spambotz in the last couple days. This One hopes it was simply a coincidence but sees a possible risk. This One is her to post and ask for suggestions on how to hopefully deal with this before it escalates.

Idea 1: change the captcha software.
A quick Googling revealed that lesser known software tends to be reliable and to that end we here could change it in the hopes that the spamnots don't have the crack for it.

    Idea 2: Authorizing accounts.
We could require that a new member would need to have their account aproved by a mod before the can post. Given that the migration is over the workload probably won't be that much so me, squirrel, and elgee should be able to handle it easily.

Idea 3: Use a question rather than a captcha.
First let This One say she knows little about programming. That out of the way I had the idea of simply posing a custom question to be answered like what color is the back ground or the name of the admin.

    Anyone else got any ideas?

There, all new questions and a few more.

Also increased the captcha difficulty one more, to the highest level.

I'm wary of installing new captcha software, cause what we have is built in to the forum software and I'm no code master. :/

You could try and add a nested loop captcha. Basically add a Yes/no I am Human question over the captcha. Taking it a step over that would be to add a captcha over the Yes/No Question.
