You are faced with a giant spider. All of the primal instincts in the back of your head scream one thing at you-

Kill it.

KILL IT WITH FIRE.

So as you dodge sticky tendrils of web, you flash through handseals. Horse, snake, tiger, monkey, boar, horse, and tiger- And then, with a great exhalation, you release a gout of chakra-fed flames to smash into the beast.

The spider shrieks and skitters up the wall, flames coating one of it's sides as it makes it's way up to an almost invisible hollow in the wall. The flame catches on strands of hanging silk, and within moments the entire room is flickering with flames.

You need to get out, now.

Hot Pursuit!

You gather chakra in your feet and dash up the wall behind the spider, dodging the burning cords of silk as they flutter in the heat of their own flames. You manage to reach the hole in the wall mere moments after the spider, and begin dashing through after it.

As you disappear down the hallway, flames crawl slowly and steadily behind you...

-------Scene Change-------

The sewers are darker then you remember them being- Which you think is odd, as even before you could barely see the hand in front of your face. In front of you, Orochimaru sniffs slightly. "Smoke," He declares lightly, and the reason it's even harder to see becomes clear to you- You hadn't noticed the smell of fire over the stench of sewage.

The ratlings are bolder, too- Or perhaps this is a different group of them. They seem larger, and lurk about corners watching you- Although they draw back whenever Orochimaru so much as glances at them.

It takes you little time to reach the pit you'd fallen down, and when you do you see the ratlings there clustered around a single, giant rat that sits languidly by the wall. You sense a powerful demonic aura emitting from it. It gazes at you languidly, before shifting eyes to the one you are following. It's eyes narrow, and with a sniff it settles in to sleep. Orochimaru chuckles, and moves towards a hole in the wall.

Down the Rat-Tunnel

You give the rat king one last gaze, before following along behind Orochimaru. Sakkaku trails behind you silently.

It doesn't take long to find the place you'd came from. It does, however, take quite a bit of acrobatics, and at least one occasion of Orochimaru grabbing and throwing you up to a ledge you couldn't reach. It has a strong throwing arm, you note somewhat wryly.

You look down the two paths at the intersection. Sakkaku had said her teammates had split here- Dog Boss had apparently gone straight down, where Tetsuo went to the right. It seems that at least one of your watchers is fine- For a given definition of fine, anyway. A half-broken mask reveals a single gray eye and a twisted mass of flesh where the other eye should have been. A quick glance shows several other tears and open, bleeding wounds.

"Tetsuo!" Sakkaku shouts, as she breaks from the group to kneel beside the man. He coughs roughly as she tears off his shirt, revealing the battered form beneath it.

"Heh... Didn't think I'd be seeing you again, Shasu-chan."

Orochimaru watches and turns to you. "So, it seems we've arrived in time to save one of your guardians. What do you plan to do next?"

... Damnit. You hadn't considered the second guard at all. If you just leave him here, he will die- But if you don't keep going on, you may be too late to save Inu-Taicho. You may be able to get away with leaving someone behind to bring Tetsuo to safety, but you'll be less able to help with any problems Inu might be facing if you do that- Assuming you don't face problems of your own trying to find him.

[] What do?
