The Dao Of Frost And Flame (ASOIAF/Xianxia)

Prologue

Once, long ago, the world was a rich and harmonious place. Resources were abundant, great powers across the three continents kept bandits and demons at bay, and the path of cultivation was unhindered. Many cultivators ascended to the upper realm in those times, and the great clans and sects of the lower world had the backing of their upper world ancestors.

Then, three hundred thousand years ago, everything changed when a mysterious calamity descended on the upper realm. This calamity was so terrible that most scholars are convinced that the upper realm has been completely destroyed. This is because of two reasons. First, there are the final messages the upper realm ancestors sent their lower realm descendants before all contact with the upper realm was lost. The exact wording of these messages are closely guarded secrets, but it is widely known that their content is most dire. Secondly, it is no longer possible for cultivators to ascend to the upper realm. The path to the upper realm has been completely cut off. For the last three hundred thousand years, there hasn't been a single message or a single ascension to prove that the upper realm still exists. This has led many scholars to conclude that we live in a diminished world. It isn't just the loss of contact with the upper realm that leads to this world to be called a diminished one. The calamity that struck the upper realm was so terrible that it even affected the lower realm and changed it irrevocably. The qi of the world was thrown into chaos, making it much harder for cultivators to draw upon the energy of heaven and earth. Spells and talismans also became much harder to use and were much more prone to error. Many old techniques had to be abandoned and new methods of cultivation developed to deal with this new, chaotic qi. However, over the past three hundred thousand years, the qi of the world has calmed down and many cultivators hold out hope that one day it will return to its former, pre-calamity state and the old techniques will once more be usable again.

What cannot be repaired however is the damage done to the land. Detritus falling from the upper realm as a result of the calamity completely shattered the Southern Continent, destroying that massive landmass and leaving only scattered islands surrounded by boiling seas. The central regions of the Eastern Continent were also destroyed, killing billions of mortals and hundreds of thousands of cultivators, leaving a desolate wasteland where once a vibrant continent full of life stood. Only the cities that lay along the coast of the Eastern Continent survived in a much diminished state. As for the desolate wasteland in the center of the Eastern Continent, it has become home to wandering tribes of barbarians. These barbarians scavenge the artifacts of the once great dynasties that ruled the continent and make war on the coastal cities. The Western Continent is fortunate that it managed to avoid being destroyed outright like the Southern Continent and being laid waste like the Eastern Continent. But it didn't escape unscathed. The only known upper realms survivors of the calamity descended on the Western Continent. Three cultivators and their divine dragon mounts. Their powers were much diminished by physically descending to the lower realm, but even in that diminished state, the cultivators of the Western Continent were like ants before them. With the aid of their mounts and the use of their divine flame arts that could reduce both a body and a soul to nothingness, they conquered the entire Western Continent in a lightning campaign, forcing its mighty cultivation clans to submit. For the first time in its history, a single dynasty ruled the Western Continent.

In the beginning, the Heaven Reaching Dragon Dynasty ruled this Western Continent with an iron fist, striking down all who sought to challenge its dominance. However, their once mighty power diminished as the generations passed. Their mounts, the divine dragons, could not survive long in this lower realm, and were eventually forced to retreat into secret realms or regress. With the loss of their companion dragons, the divine flame arts of the Heaven Reaching Dragon Dynasty were also diminished. The emperors also neglected state affairs and spent most of their time in secluded cultivation in futile attempts to reach the upper realm from where their ancestors originated. Under these conditions, their vassal clans began to be restless and bandits and demons began to roam the land. Their rule was challenged several times as time went on, but the Heaven Reaching Dragon Dynasty managed to overcome them all and maintain their rule. However, twenty years ago, when the arrogant First Prince of the Heaven Reaching Dragon Dynasty attempted to seize the Young Mistress of the Black Ice Wolf Clan of the North, four of the great clans of the Western Continent rose up in rebellion at once, and finally defeated the Heaven Reaching Dragon Dynasty. In the last great battle, the First Prince of the Heaven Reaching Dragon Dynasty was killed by the Patriarch of the Ten Thousand Thunders Clan, and the imperial army was routed. The imperial city was razed to the ground, the remaining members of the dynasty slaughtered, and a new empire established. The patriarch of the Ten Thousand Thunders Clan became the new emperor and established the Ten Thousand Thunders Dynasty. He had been engaged to the Young Mistress of the Black Ice Wolf Clan, but she had perished during the war, so he took the Young Mistress of the Golden Maned Lion Clan of the West as his consort and appointed the patriarch of the Heaven Piercing Falcon Clan as his Chancellor. He had already become sworn brothers with the new Patriarch of the Frost Wolf Clan, so with this, the new emperor secured the loyalty of four of the eight great clans of the continent for his new dynasty. The new dynasty drove away the bandits and demons that plagued the continent, put down a rebellion by the Tide Swallowing Kraken Clan, hunted down the remnants of the old dynasty, and finally bought an era of peace the continent hasn't seen since the rule of the founding ancestor of the previous dynasty.

However, all is not well. There are rumors of intrigue in the imperial court, telling of how the Golden Maned Lion Clan is maneuvering to become the dominant power of the continent with the backing of the new imperial consort and the chancellor forming his own faction in an attempt to stop them. With the four ruling clan's attention focused on court intrigues, state affairs are neglected, the other four great clans are quietly beginning to gather strength, and once again bandits and demons are beginning to trouble the land. There are even rumors of old dynasty loyalists once more gathering forces, and even talk of one last surviving prince somewhere in hiding, quietly biding his time. Finally, worst of all, there is talk from the frozen north of the continent, speaking of an old enemy from the Primordial Era of the world somehow returning.

One thing is certain. The path of a cultivator in the Western Continent in this era is going to be one of both great danger and great opportunity. They might seize the great opportunities this chaotic times provide and climb to the very top of the world, or be swallowed by the chaos and be utterly destroyed.

So, I had this idea. What if the Game of Thrones story was adapted to a xianxia novel? What do you guys think?

I like the idea but I have not seen enough to say more. But I will say that I cant wait to see where it goes

Administrative Hierarchy of the Realm

The dynasty is divided into eight domains, and each domain is further subdivided into prefectures, and the prefectures are in turn divided into counties.

The imperial dynasty sits above all the domains. Imperial bureaucrats regularly audit the domains to make sure the tributes are set accurately and imperial law is being fairly administered. Imperial agents also monitor the domains for signs of gathering rebellion. The massive tributes sent by the domains are used to support the massive imperial airship fleet and the Nine Thunder Guards that serve as the imperial fleet and army respectively.

Domains
Ruled by a Domain Sovereign, who is also the Patriarch of the Great Clan of that region. They operate as kings in all but name, commanding millions of miles of territory and the continent's most pristine spirit veins. Sworn directly to the Dragon Dynasty, they must pay annual tribute in high-grade spirit stones, heavenly herbs, and military levies. So long as tribute flows, the Emperor largely ignores how a Sovereign rules.

Prefectures
Domains are subdivided into Prefectures, governed by Prefecture Governors, who are typically the Patriarchs of powerful lesser clans. That does not mean that each clan gets a prefecture though. While a weaker prefecture might have only a single clan ruling over it, a more powerful prefecture might have several clans within it with only one being a single ruling clan.

Counties
Prefectures are carved into Counties, overseen by County Magistrates. These magistrates are usually promising clan scions sent to gain administrative experience, or aging cultivators who have abandoned their advancement. They manage mortal cities, enforce the laws of the higher clans, and ensure the steady collection of mortal taxes, low-grade spirit stones, and spirit rice.

Villages
At the very bottom of the hierarchy are the rural settlements, led by Village Chiefs. They exist entirely at the mercy of the cultivation world. They mine raw ore, harvest mundane crops, and rely desperately on the County Magistrates' protective arrays to survive bandits and demons.

Path of Cultivation
In a world where cultivation meets the brutal politics of the Western Continent, power scales exponentially. Because the primordial calamity threw the world's qi into chaos and cut off the Upper Realm, the ceiling for cultivation is firmly capped.

Qi Gathering Realm (The Mortal Threshold)
This is the entry point of cultivation. The cultivator draws the ambient, chaotic qi of the world into their meridians and directs it down into their dantian, where it is cycled and refined before being used to wash the flesh, organs, and bones. Through continuous cycling, this process purges mortal impurities through the pores, simultaneously strengthening and widening the meridians so they can hold and channel increasingly greater volumes of qi.

Cultivators at this stage develop superhuman strength, speed, and reflexes. They can easily dodge crossbow bolts, shatter stone with their bare hands, and march for days without sleep. They can perform minor qi manifestations—such as coating a sword in elemental fire or using movement techniques to scale city walls—though they cannot fly without a specialized flying artifact.

Commoners who become clan retainers, junior monks, iron/copper cauldron alchemists, and most rogue cultivators reside in this realm. Though this is the lowest tier of cultivation, a late-stage Qi Gathering cultivator remains a terror on a mortal battlefield, capable of slaughtering a hundred mundane warriors single-handedly.

The lifespan of a qi gathering realm cultivator is about 100 to 120 years.

Foundation Establishment Realm (The True Cultivator)
At this stage, a cultivator forcibly compresses their gaseous qi under immense internal pressure until it undergoes a phase change, condensing into the first drops of liquid qi. Building this "Dao Foundation" is a permanent structural overhaul of the spiritual anatomy: the lower dantian is tempered and expanded into a reinforced, sea-like reservoir, while the meridian network is forcibly stretched, widened, and elasticized to handle the heavy, viscous flow of liquid energy. Breaking through to this realm represents a massive hurdle in the post-calamity world; doing so almost always requires rare alchemical pills (such as Foundation Building Pills), a qi-dense environment like a holy land's spirit vein, and sometimes even the personal guidance of an elder to protect their dantian during the transition.

Once established, a cultivator can perform the legendary feats for which immortals are known. A Foundation Establishment cultivator can ride a flying sword, project their qi outward to strike from a distance with ethereal swords or ghostly palms, and unleash devastating elemental arts such as surging firestorms or piercing lightning strikes. They can construct defensive arrays and communicate or scout via divine sense over short distances.

Cultivators at this level serve as clan scions, senior monks, silver cauldron alchemists, county magistrates, and inner disciples of sects. Their lifespan expands significantly, allowing them to live between 200 and 250 years.

Golden Core Realm (The Lords of the Continent)
To reach this realm, a cultivator must compress the vast sea of liquid qi within their dantian down to a single point, igniting it with spiritual flame to forge a solid, flawless "Golden Core." Forcing tens of thousands of drops of liquid qi together under star-like pressure is an all-or-nothing gamble for a cultivator—failure frequently results in severe qi deviation, the shattering of their cultivation base, or immediate death.

Once forged, the golden core acts as a self-sustaining engine of pure energy, constantly rotating at the center of the dantian and generating immense quantities of highly concentrated, solid-grade qi. This grants the cultivator qualitative dominance over lower realms.

A golden core expert no longer needs flying swords or artifacts to fly, hovering and traveling through the sky by sheer force of will. A single casual palm strike can collapse fortress walls, and their sweeping elemental arts can incinerate entire battlefields. Their Divine Sense expands across entire cities and counties, allowing them to detect threats miles away. Their physical bodies become nearly indestructible, rapidly knitting together deadly wounds as long as the core inside their dantian remains intact.

These are the undisputed regional overlords of the Western Continent. Clan leaders, prefecture governors, temple abbots, sect elders, and gold cauldron alchemists sit at this level.

The lifespan of a golden core cultivator is around 500 to 600 years.

Nascent Soul Realm (The Apex of the Diminished World)
To achieve this realm, a cultivator must shatter their own golden core from within, channeling the catastrophic release of energy to nurture and birth a miniature, pure spiritual entity—a "Nascent Soul"—inside the dantian. This breakthrough is exceptionally rare and dangerous. Failing to properly shape and ignite the soul during core-shattering causes the unraveled energy to collapse inward, instantly vaporizing both the cultivator's physical body and spiritual consciousness. As if that was not enough, during this process, the cultivator must also survive the perilous heart tribulation: a brutal mental trial where every past regret, karmic sin, suppressed ambition, and hidden trauma manifests as a vicious heart demon attempting to corrupt their mind. Failing to conquer one's heart demons during the formation of a nascent soul can lead to qi deviation or possession, resulting in either a broken husk of a man with a destroyed cultivation base or demon with the power of a nascent soul. If the cultivator overcomes all of these challenges and successfully birthes the nascent soul, it integrates with the cultivator's dao heart, fundamentally detaching their true existence from mortal flesh.

A nascent soul expert gains basic mastery over spatial laws, enabling short-range teleportation (Spatial Shift) and rapid transit across entire domains. Their divine sense expands across provinces, perceiving spiritual movements hundreds of miles away. Most terrifyingly, their physical form becomes a secondary vessel—if their body is completely destroyed in battle, the nascent soul can abandon the flesh, survive independently in heaven and earth, and eventually seize a new body to resurrect.

These cultivators are the living legends and nuclear-tier deterrents of the Western Continent. The Grand Patriarchs of the Great Clans, Grand Abbots of the Temple, hidden ancestral monsters in secluded cultivation, and divine flame alchemists are at this stage. A true battle between Nascent Soul experts permanently shatters geography and alters a domain's climate.

The lifespan of a nascent soul cultivator is 1000 to 3000 years.

Heaven Reaching Dragon Dynasty (Targaryen)
Status: Destroyed

Leader: Emperor (Former)

Headquarters: Heavenly Dragon Mountain (Destroyed)

Territory: Imperial Domain (Destroyed)

Physique: True Yang Dragon Body

Cultivation Technique: Heavenly Dragon Flame Scripture

Description:
The first and greatest challenge they faced was their divine dragon mounts being unable to survive for long on the thinner, chaotic qi of the lower realm. A divine dragon in the lower realm must either regress into a lesser dragon or retreat into a secret realm and go into hibernation. Therefore, while the founding emperor and his consorts rode divine dragons, each successive generation was forced to choose lesser dragons as their mounts, thereby sacrificing a large portion of their power.

Additionally, because their bloodline was from the upper realm as well, the scions of the dynasty faced many difficulties when cultivating in the lower realm. Scions of the dynasty were born with their bloodline locked, and it had to be awakened with potent alchemical pills, elixirs, and medicinal baths. Even after their bloodline was unlocked, each new breakthrough required alchemical aid and consumed a massive amount of resources.

While the vast amount of resources needed to advance their cultivation and the reduced potency of their dragons was a huge problem for the dynasty, their worst quality was no doubt the way their elders inevitably became obsessed with returning to the upper realm as they advanced their cultivation. The best and brightest of the dynasty would spend long years in secluded cultivation in futile attempts to ascend or to contact the upper realm, and the affairs of state would suffer as a result.

Still, despite all of this, the dynasty endured for 300,000 years. They faced many challenges including scions starting civil wars while fighting for the imperial throne, a war against the Seven Holy Aspects Temple, and an attempt to usurp the dynasty by the Nether Dragon Emperor. The dynasty managed to survive all of these challenges, only falling at last to the rebellion of four great clans led by the Ten Thousand Thunders Clan.

Nether Flame Dragon Dynasty (Blackfyre)
Status: Destroyed

Leader: Emperor (Claimed)

Headquarters: None

Territory: None

Physique: Nether Dragon Yin Physique

Cultivation Technique: Abyssal Dragon Flame Scripture

Description:
Born from the indiscretions of a decadent, late-era emperor who dabbled in unorthodox dual-cultivation, the founder of this branch was an illegitimate royal scion who inherited a terrifying mutation of the imperial bloodline. Instead of the blazing True Yang fire of his ancestors, this scion possessed the Nether Dragon Yin Physique, allowing him to command cold, soul-corrupting abyssal black flames. Before entering secluded cultivation and ultimately succumbing to qi deviation, the decadent emperor formally legitimized this son and gifted him the dynasty's supreme ancestral artifact weapon, sparking a catastrophic succession crisis.

Declaring himself the Nether Dragon Emperor, the scion rallied dissatisfied lesser clans, rogue cultivators, and demonic sects, plunging the Western Continent into a devastating civil war that nearly tore the Heaven Reaching Dragon Dynasty apart. Though he possessed unmatched martial prowess, the Nether Dragon Emperor was ultimately slain in a climactic battle by the loyalist imperial forces.

Recognizing that a standing army could never survive the emperor's divine dragon mounts or airship fleet in open battle, the surviving scions and loyalists abandoned traditional warfare entirely. Instead of fleeing the continent, they scattered into the shadows of the Western Continent and forged the Golden Skull Sect—a terrifying assassin organization operating from a hidden, shifting pocket dimension.

Over the past hundred thousand years, the remnants of the Nether Dragon line transformed their heritage into deadly paths of assassination, breath-concealment, and soul-shattering techniques. By executing high-priced contracts for ambitious great clans, they quietly amassed a colossal war chest of spirit stones, rare herbs, and alchemical resources. Though the court officially cataloged the dynasty as extinct long ago, whispers endure that a pure-blooded Nether Dragon heir still sits at the heart of the Golden Skull Sect, waiting for court intrigue to fracture the Great Clans before emerging to reclaim the throne.

Ten Thousand Thunders Dynasty (Baratheon)
Status: Active

Leader: Emperor

Headquarters: Unending Storms Holy Land

Territory: Unrelenting Storms Domain

Physique: Primordial Thunder Physique

Cultivation Technique: Demon Scouring Thunder Hammer Scripture

Description:
Founded by a legendary cultivator from the primordial era who was said to have endured a tribulation of ten thousand lightning bolts, this clan ruled the Unrelenting Storms Domain for eons. Cultivators born with their Primordial Thunder Physique possess towering, indomitable bodies heavily resistant to elemental damage, but the volatile lightning qi in their meridians makes them notoriously prone to explosive rage. For hundreds of thousands of years, they were the vanguard of the continent, potent lightning arts capable of shattering defensive arrays and pulping golden cores with a single strike.

The new dynasty drove away the bandits and demons that plagued the continent, put down a rebellion by the Tide Swallowing Kraken Clan, hunted down the remnants of the old dynasty, and finally brought an era of peace the continent hasn't seen since the rule of the founding ancestor of the previous dynasty.

However, the martial genius that won the continent has proved ill-suited for ruling it. In the decades since his ascension, the reigning Emperor has severely neglected both his cultivation and affairs of state, numbing himself with potent spiritual wines and endless mortal indulgences. Rumors whisper that he suffers from hidden, decaying soul-wounds inflicted by the dragon prince during their final duel. As the Emperor's power stagnates, he has largely abandoned the office of the Chancellor to his childhood mentor, the Grand Patriarch of the Heaven Piercing Falcon Clan, and the daily governance of the imperial court to his ambitious in-laws—the Great Clan of the Empress. With the Imperial Court slowly being swallowed by foreign influence and the Emperor's heirs lacking true martial talent, the Ten Thousand Thunders Dynasty stands on the precipice of a devastating succession crisis.

Black Ice Wolf Clan (Stark)
Status: Active

Leader: Grand Patriarch

Headquarters: Winder Fell Holy Land

Territory: Northern Domain

Physique: Primordial Ice Physique

Cultivation Technique: Eternal Winter Dao Art

Description:
One of the most ancient and traditional Great Clans of the Western Continent, the Black Ice Wolf Clan has ruled the desolate, freezing expanses of the Nothern Domain since the primordial era. Their ancestors were harsh, uncompromising cultivators who tamed the harsh northern qi and bound their souls to the massive Black Ice Spirit Wolves that roam the frozen tundras. Cultivators possessing the Primordial Ice Physique are highly resistant to cold-yin energies and illusions, possessing exceptionally sturdy meridians. Their cultivation scripture is uniquely suited to their physique, with its cultivators being able to call forth the winter itself to strike their foes. This can range from a qi gathering cultivator coating their blade in frost to a nascent soul elder manifesting a domain and freezing the qi of their enemies.

For hundreds of thousands of years, the Black Ice Wolf Clan largely ignored the politics of the Imperial Capital. Instead, they focused on their sacred duty: aiding the Obsidian Sword Sect to safeguard the rest of the continent from the demons from beyond the Sky-Piercing Ice Wall. Because their domain is resource-poor in traditional spirit stones but rich in ancient, deadly tempering environments, their cultivators are known to be straightforward, fiercely loyal, and utterly uncompromising in matters of honor and the Heavenly Dao.

Twenty years ago, their clan was dragged into the center of continental politics when the arrogant First Prince of the Heaven Reaching Dragon Dynasty abducted their Young Mistress. When the previous Patriarch and the clan's eldest heir traveled to the Imperial Capital to demand her return, the Dragon Emperor brutally executed them using the True Yang Flame, melting their Nascent Souls and sparking a continent-wide rebellion.

Thrust into leadership, the current Patriarch—a stoic and deeply honorable man—forged a blood oath with the Patriarch of the Ten Thousand Thunders Clan. Together, they led the northern armies south, shattering the imperial loyalists. Though they won the war, the victory was bitter; the Young Mistress perished before she could be rescued. Disgusted by the scheming and opulence of the southern domains, the new Patriarch immediately returned home with his surviving forces. Today, the clan remains isolated from the new emperor's court, preferring the honest brutality of the frozen north to the poisoned wine and hidden daggers of imperial politics.

Golden Maned Lion Clan (Lannister)
Status: Active

Leader: Grand Patriarch

Headquarters: Gilded Caverns Holy Land

Territory: Western Domain

Physique: Golden Tyrant Physique

Cultivation Technique: Roaring Celestial Lion Scripture

Description:
The wealthiest of the eight great clans, the Golden Maned Lion Clan rules the mineral rich mountain ranges of the Western Domain. They hold absolute control over the continent's largest high-grade spirit stone mines and ancient solar-gold veins. Cultivators born with their Golden Tyrant Physique command oppressive metal-elemental qi, giving their strikes immense weight and rendering their flesh as hard as refined spirit steel.

During the rebellion against the Heaven Reaching Dragon Dynasty, their cunning patriarch held his forces in reserve, waiting until the loyalists were shattered before marching his armies into the imperial capital. To prove his loyalty to the victors, he ordered the total purge of the remaining royal dragon scions inside the palace. The alliance was sealed when the new emperor took the patriarch's eldest daughter as his empress. Unmatched in wealth and political ambition, the Golden Maned Lion Clan currently dominates the court, using their vast financial reserves to buy influence within the imperial bureaucracy and position themselves as the true power behind the throne.

Heaven Piercing Falcon Clan (Arryn)
Status: Active

Leader: Grand Patriarch

Headquarters: Azure Clouds Holy Land

Territory: Eastern Domain

Physique: Azure Winds Dao Body

Cultivation Technique: Azure Cloud Suthra

Description:
Ruling over the sheer, unreachable peaks of the Eastern Domain, the Heaven Piercing Falcon Clan commands wind-attribute qi, superior aerial maneuverability, and massive tamed cloud falcon spirit beasts. Their ancestral stronghold is widely considered impregnable, protected by natural mountain barriers, high-altitude spatial rifts, and ancient gale arrays that shred uninvited flying beasts and airships to ribbons.

Fiercely honorable, their veteran patriarch acted as a surrogate father and mentor to both the thunder emperor and the wolf patriarch during their youth, forming the moral core of the grand rebellion. Following the fall of the dragons, he accepted the post of Grand Chancellor, stepping in to construct the empire's new civil administrative system. However, now aging and burdened by the daily corruption of imperial politics, the Chancellor struggles to restrain the rising influence of the Golden Maned Lion Clan, while back in his native domain, rumors whisper that his own line's succession is growing fragile.

Tide Swallowing Kraken Clan (Geryjoy)
Status: Active

Leader: Grand Patriarch

Headquarters: Sea Dragon Holy Land

Territory: Island of Iron

Physique: Abyssal Kraken Physique

Cultivation Technique: Bottomless Depths Dao Art

Description:
A ruthless and domineering faction of maritime cultivators dating back from the primordial era, the Kraken Clan adheres to a brutal martial philosophy: they do not sow spirit herbs or patiently gather worldly essence; they take it by force. Isolated on the harsh, resource-poor Island of Iron, their ancestors learned to draw power directly from the violent, crushing depths of the ocean. Cultivators born with the Abyssal Kraken Physique possess monstrous physical strength, heavily armored skin, and an oppressive aura that mimics the terrifying pressure of the deep sea. Their Bottomless Depths Dao Art allows them to absorb the Qi of their defeated enemies and summon phantom kraken tentacles formed of dense, black water. Feared across the coasts, they are unparalleled in naval warfare and would often launch devastating raids to plunder the mainland's cultivation resources in the pre-calamity era. However, the Heaven Reaching Dragon Dynasty was able to suppress them with absolute power, putting an end to the worst of their depredations. After the old dynasty fell, the Kraken Clan rose in rebellion against the new emperor in an attempt to return to the old ways, but was soundly defeated by the united forces of the four great clans that make up the current ruling coalition. As a result of their rebellion, their power is greatly curtailed in the current era, but the Kraken Clan is quietly gathering strength in the ocean depths where other cultivators cannot reach, never abandoning hope of bringing back the old ways.

Azure Wave Carp Clan (Tully)
Status: Active

Leader: Grand Patriarch

Headquarters: Verdant Rivers Holy Land

Territory: River Domain

Physique: Water Aspected Spirit Body

Cultivation Technique: Endless Raging Rapids Scripture

Description:
Situated at the geographical heart of the continent, the Azure Wave Carp Clan controls the sprawling network of spiritual rivers and dragon-veins that connect the various domains. They are wealthy from trade and deeply respected for their unwavering commitment to duty and martial honor. In cultivation, they are the undisputed masters of continuous, flowing combat. The Endless Raging Rapids Scripture grants them boundless stamina, allowing them to fight drawn-out battles by layering attacks that build in momentum like a tidal bore. Those born with the Water Aspected Spirit Body can draw near unlimited water aspected qi from the rivers, becoming virtually untouchable in their home territory. Though they are often dragged into the conflicts of neighboring holy lands due to their central location, the clan is famously resilient, driven by an ancient legend that a Carp whose cultivation reaches the absolute apex will eventually leap the Heavenly Gate and transform into a True Dragon. They are also one of the four clans of the coalition that defeated the previous dynasty, bound by marriage alliance to the Black Ice Wolf Clan of the Northern Domain.

Verdant Throne Rose Clan (Tyrell)
Status: Active

Leader: Grand Patriarch

Headquarters: Garden of Endless Bounty Holy Land

Territory: Southern Domain

Physique: Myriad Wood Spiritual Body

Cultivation Technique: Supreme Wood Emperor Scripture

Description:
Outwardly, the Verdant Throne Rose Clan is the most elegant, prosperous, and culturally refined faction in the realm. Ruling over the fertile Southern Domain, they hold a near-monopoly on high-tier spirit herbs, spiritual grains, and unparalleled alchemical pills. However, beneath their beautiful and chivalrous exterior lies a deeply cunning and ambitious political machine. The Supreme Wood Emperor Scripture allows their elders to command nature itself, turning tranquil forests into inescapable labyrinths of strangling vines and life-draining roots. Disciples possessing the Myriad Wood Spiritual Body have horrifyingly fast regenerative abilities and are naturally immune to most earthly toxins. The clan's true terrifying power lies in their "thorns"—hidden grandmasters who specialize in cultivating beautiful but lethal spiritual poisons, ensuring that anyone who tries to pluck the rose clan's wealth bleeds for it.

World Scorching Solar Spear Clan (Martel)
Status: Active

Leader: Grand Patriarch

Headquarters: Solar Spire Holy Land

Territory: Scorching Sands Domain

Physique: Unbowed Yang Fire Body

Cultivation Technique: Nine Desolations Solar Spear Scripture

Description:
Fiercely independent and entirely unbreakable in their martial will, the Solar Spear Clan resides in the unforgiving Scorching Sands Domain. They claim that the founder of their clan was an upper realm cultivator, much like the founders of the Heaven Reaching Dragon Dynasty, and that their physique and cultivation scripture both originate from the upper realm. Throughout history, many great powers attempted to conquer their desert, but all have failed. Only the Heaven Reaching Dragon Dynasty ended up succeeding, and even then, it was after several brutal wars. The clan draws its power from extreme Yang energy, dual-cultivating the Dao of Fire and the Dao of the Spear. The Unbowed Yang Fire Body allows them to absorb the deadly, scorching rays of the midday sun to temper their flesh, making them highly resistant to both physical trauma and spiritual coercion. When they strike using the Nine Desolations Solar Spear Scripture, their weapons ignite with a blinding, inextinguishable golden flame that burns away both the body and the soul of their enemies. They are proud, passionate, and deeply loyal to their kin, preferring a glorious death in the blazing sands over bending the knee to any outsider.

Alchemy Guild (Alchemy Guild)
Status: Active

Leader: Grand Alchemist

Ranks: Iron Cauldron, Copper Cauldron, Silver Cauldron, Gold Cauldron, Divine Flame

Headquarters: Imperial City (Current)/ Jade Fire Caverns (Former)

Territory: None

Physique: None

Cultivation Technique: Alchemy

Description:
The alchemists are one of the four meritocratic organizations on the continent. Anyone can join the Alchemy Guild and become an alchemist, be they a scion of a cultivation clan or the child of a poor farmer. The only requirement is having at least some cultivation talent. The alchemy guild used to be one of the most powerful organizations on the continent under the previous dynasty. The scions of the Heaven Reaching Dragon Dynasty had upper realm physiques that were difficult to unlock and cultivate in the lower realm. And so they used alchemy to unlock their divine physiques and to force breakthroughs. Doing so required pills, elixirs, and medicine baths that not only consumed a massive amount of resources, but also used many rare ingredients that were almost impossible to source. It was only the vast reach and wealth of the Heaven Reaching Dragon Dynasty that made such a thing possible. This led to the imperial clan becoming the Alchemy Guild's best customers and a special bond forming between the imperial clan and the Alchemy Guild. The headquarters of the guild was moved to the Jade Fire Caverns in the Imperial Domain after the previous dynasty was established. After the old dynasty was destroyed, the Alcmemy Guild lost a lot of its power, but a continent spanning organization like theirs could not be simply destroyed. Especially not the organization producing the pills that just about every clan on the continent used to aid in their cultivation. So, their old leadership was purged and they were forced to move their headquarters to the new imperial city. While they may be out of favor now, an organization as vital as the Alchemy Guild cannot be suppressed forever and will inevitably rise again. The Alchemy Guild sources most of their herbs from the Southern Domain and have good ties with its cultivation clans. The sovereign clan of the Southern Domain, the Verdant Thorne Rose Clan, is now the Alchemy Guild's biggest supporter after the Heaven Reaching Dragon Dynasty's fall. Apart from the imperial city, the domain capitals and the prefecture capitals all have Alchemy Pavilions. Here pills and elixirs are refined, apprentices are trained, and pre-made pills and elixirs are sold. Apart from these alchemy pavilions, county towns and villages almost always have one or more alchemists living in them and running an independent shop. They produce basic pills and medicine powders for the locals to aid in healing and sometimes cultivation. Finally, there are also an unknown number of underground alchemists active across the continent, refining pills that use ingredients that are best left unmentioned. Alchemists have several ranks according to their level of skill and cultivation level. An alchemist can advance in rank by passing a trial set by a panel of their elders. There are multiple ranks among the alchemists.

Iron Cauldron
These are the village alchemists who make basic healing elixirs and medicine powders.

Copper Cauldron
These are the alchemists who set up shop in county towns or in the poor parts of the more larger cities. They can refine basic pills and elixirs that are also mostly used for healing.

Silver Cauldron
These are the alchemists who work in the various alchemy pavilions under the supervision of the elders. An alchemist at this level can produce qi gathering pills and body cleansing elixirs used by cultivators, putting them firmly above the mortal realm. Aiding this even further is the fact that these alchemists are given the resources to advance their own cultivation by the guild, usually putting them in the qi gathering realm or the foundation establishment realm.

Gold Cauldron
These alchemists are the pavilion masters and elders. They can refine the truly miraculous breakthrough pills and restorative elixirs that are the stuff of legends. They are also powerful in their own right, almost always being Golden Core cultivators.

Divine Flame
There are only a handful of these legendary alchemists in the entire continent. They act as liaisons to the imperial court and the leaders of the guild. Even the grand patriarch of a great clan has to negotiate for their services. They are capable of refining pills that can repair a damaged dantien, heal a shattered soul, and unlock a special bloodline.Apart from these earth shaking abilities, they are also nascent soul cultivators, putting them on the same level as the power houses of the continent.

Nine Raven Scholar's Pavilion (Citadel)
Status: Active

Leader: Council of Scholars

Ranks: Iron Token, Copper Token, Silver Token, Gold Token, Divine Steel Token

Headquarters: Nine Raven Scholar's Pavilion

Territory: None

Physique: None

Cultivation Technique: None

Description:
Scholars are the teachers and bureaucrats of the Western Continent. The many mundane tasks that are involved in running a domain such as the census, assessing and collecting the taxes, handling grain distribution, ratifying land ownership, providing travel permits, issuing mercantile licenses, collecting tariffs and such are handled by bureaucrats so that the ruling clans can focus on their cultivation and martial affairs. The scholars are also one of the four meritocratic organizations on the Western Continent. Anyone can become a scholar. It doesn't matter if they are the scion of a great clan or a farmer's son from some no name village. The only requirement for becoming a scholar is passing the imperial exams that are held once a year in more than one thousand exam centers across the entire continent. There are several levels of exams.

Iron Token
If you pass the level one exam, you earn an iron token and can find work in a small village. Assisting the mayor with the census and tax assessment, teaching the village children, and helping to interpret the law during disputes. An iron token also lets a scholar travel freely across their county.

Copper Token
If you pass the level two exam, you earn a copper token and can find work in a small town as the staff member of a county magistrate or as a teacher of a school. While the iron token bearing village scholar was a jack of all trades, from copper token upward scholars are more specialized and titles are more regimented. A copper token also lets a scholar travel freely across their county.

Silver Token
If you pass the level three exam, you earn a silver token and can find work in a prefecture capital in the staff of the provincial governor, in the households of the local cultivator clans, or in the city academy. A Silver token lets a scholar travel freely across their entire prefecture.

Gold Token
The level four exam can only be taken at the Nine Raven Scholar's Pavilion. If you pass this exam, you earn the gold token and you can join the imperial bureaucracy, the staff of one of the Domain Sovereigns, or teach at one of the exclusive academies in the domain capitals. A gold token lets a scholar travel across the entire continent, and puts its owner on the same social standing as the scion of a cultivation clan.

Divine Silver Token
The level five exam can also only be taken at the Nine Raven Scholar's Pavilion. If you pass this exam, you earn the divine steel token and you can join the personal retinue of the emperor, enter the highest ranks of the imperial bureaucracy, or become an elder of the Nine Raven Scholar's Pavilion.

Seven Holy Aspects Temple (Faith of the Seven)
Status: Active

Leader: Council of Grand Abbots

Headquarters: None

Territory: Seven Stars Holy Land

Physique: None

Cultivation Technique: Seven Holy Scriptures

Description:
The Seven Holy Aspects Temple is the spiritual backbone of the Western Continent. The faith centers on venerating and emulating the seven distinct aspects of the Heavenly Emperor of the Upper Realm. Legend holds that both the religion and its holy scriptures were handed down to mortals directly from the Upper Realm at the very end of the Primordial Era. Anyone can join the temple regardless of background, making it one of the four meritocratic organizations of the continent—it matters not if one is the scion of a great clan or a penniless orphan, nor whether they possess high-grade cultivation talent or are entirely mortal.

The primary requirement for joining is absolute: initiates must sever all karmic ties with the mortal world. They must forfeit their birth names, noble titles, personal wealth, consorts, and family inheritances. While a monk may leave the temple at any time, returning to secular life strips them of their cultivation. The Seven Holy Scriptures are unique in that if a monk breaks their vows and leaves the order, their connection base is destroyed, causing their cultivated qi to disperse back into Heaven and Earth.

In exchange, monks are held as untouchable across all the domains of the continent. They provide free healing, demon-warding, and funeral rites to mortals. High-ranking monks are frequently invited to the courts of the great cultivation clans as impartial arbitrators, and spiritual advisors.

Traditionally, the Temple has acted as a counter balance for the cultivation clans. The tens of thousands of monks trained in palm techniques, their mass defensive arrays, and their continent spanning reach will give even the most powerful cultivation clan pause. Only the Heaven Reaching Dragon Clan was able to force the temple to submit completely, allowing the scions of the Heaven Reaching Dragon Clan to walk sideways across the continent.

Every village, county town, prefecture capitol, and domain capital in the continent has at least one temple or monastery. While a farming village might just have a small temple managed by a single priest and a county town might have a slightly larger temple managed by an abbot and dozens or so priests, a large prefecture or a domain capital will have a grand temple with attached monasteries for monks and nuns.

The seven cultivation paths of the temple,
The Aspect of Justice (Father): The monks who cultivate this aspect practice the esoteric and highly dangerous art of calling down Heavenly Tribulation. In the Primordial Era, masters of this path acted as the karmic judges of the continent, summoning divine lightning to smite demonic cultivators. However, this has become the least practiced aspect since the calamity. With the qi of the world thrown into chaos and the connection to the Upper Realm severed, successfully invoking the Heavenly dao is now a matter of immense luck, and the resulting strikes are a fraction of their ancient power. Yet, they are not entirely defenseless. When tens of thousands of Justice monks form a grand chanting array, their combined spiritual intent can temporarily pierce the chaotic qi, summoning a terrifying, towering Avatar of Heavenly Retribution that can level mountains.

The Aspect of Mercy (Mother): The monks who cultivate this aspect practice the arts of qi healing. Channeling gentle, wood- and water-aspected spiritual energy, they are capable of miraculous feats of rejuvenation. Masters of this path can knit together shattered bone, mend a cracked spine, and purge lethal poisons from a mortal's blood. High level experts of these arts can even repair damaged meridians and remove poisonous, demonic qi from a cultivator's body. They might even be able to heal a broken dantian or even repair a damaged soul. Because their cultivation relies on accumulating karmic merit through selfless healing, these monks often offer their services to any mortal who approaches their temples, be they beggar or merchant prince.

The Aspect of Valor (Warrior): The monks who cultivate this aspect reach the absolute peak of the martial dao, specializing in devastating palm techniques. Unlike those who rely on flashy spells or spiritual weapons, Warrior monks condense their spiritual qi directly into their palms, generating explosive waves of force. A true master of this aspect can manifest massive, golden qi-palms capable of flattening entire demonic hordes or shattering a rival clan's flying ship with a single strike.

The Aspect of Temperance (Maiden): The monks who cultivate this aspect practice the intricate art of protective arrays and sealing formations. Just as a virtuous maiden guards her purity, these cultivators guard their physical and spiritual domains against all outside corruption. They lay down the massive, layered defensive barriers that shield the holy lands and mortal cities from bandits and demons. Internally, their techniques focus on maintaining an immaculate dao heart, making them entirely immune to illusions, mental attacks, and the insidious whispers of inner heart-demons that plague other cultivators during breakthroughs.

The Aspect of Fortitude (Smith): The monks who cultivate this aspect practice the grueling art of physical body tempering. Rather like a smith standing at a forge hammering iron, these monks treat their own bodies as the metal to be purified and hammered into shape. Through agonizing beatings, boiling medicinal baths, and absorbing extreme environmental qi, they continuously shed their mortal limitations and refine their bodies again and again. High-level monks on this path boast indestructible physiques, capable of catching soaring flying swords barehanded and ignoring low-tier elemental spells completely.

The Aspect of Wisdom (Crone): The monks who cultivate this aspect practice astrology as a way of discerning heavenly secrets. By observing the movements of the celestial bodies and sensing the subtle shifts in the world's spiritual qi, these diviners read the karmic threads that bind the realm. They can predict the opening of hidden pocket dimensions, foresee natural disasters, and calculate the rise and fall of dynasties. This is another art that has become notoriously unreliable since the calamity. But it's still possible for wise monks to divine the general shape of the future with a great deal of effort. However, because peering into the Will of Heaven invites karmic backlash, these wise monks often sacrifice their own longevity to guide their temple through chaotic times.

The Aspect of Silence (Stranger): The monks who cultivate this aspect are the caretakers of the cycle of reincarnation, specializing in funerary rites and soul pacification. When battlefields are soaked in resentful qi or ancient tombs are breached, the monks of silence arrive to perform exorcisms, soothing vengeful spirits and guiding them back into the cycle of rebirth. Armed with esoteric arts that look like sorcery to mortal eyes, they are the natural bane of ghost-cultivators, necromancers, and any entity that dares to defy the natural order of life and death.

Obsidian Sword Sect (Night's Watch)
Status: Active

Leader: Sect Master

Headquarters: Primordial Black Ice Palace

Territory: Sky-Piercing Ice Wall Mountain Range

Physique: None

Cultivation Technique: Obsidian Sword Art

Description:
Guarding the absolute northern border of the Western Continent lies the Sky-Piercing Ice Wall—not a man-made structure, but a colossal, continent-spanning mountain range forged of eternal profound ice. The Obsidian Sword Sect makes its home here, stationed in a fortress of black ice carved directly into the frozen peaks. They are the swords that guard the rest of the continent from the primordial, ice-aspected demonic entities slumbering in the frozen demon wastes beyond.

The sect is one of the four great meritocratic organizations on the continent. Anyone can join the sect, it matters not if one is the scion of a great clan or a penniless orphan. The only requirement is that you must a swear a dao oath that permanently severs all karmic ties to their past—relinquishing their clan name, their right to inherit, and their right to take a dao companion. Because the demonic entities of the north radiate a soul-freezing yin energy, standard steel and spiritual weapons shatter upon contact. Therefore, the sect exclusively practices the Obsidian Sword Art. This brutal, unyielding combat style requires cultivators to forge their flying swords out of subterranean dragonglass, refining it again and again during the forging process until it is harder than steel. A practitioner of the Obsidian Sword Art can channel pure, burning yang energy into their black blades to melt through the defenses of their ancient enemies.

Golden Skull Sect (Golden Company)
Status: Active

Leader: Sect Master

Headquarters: Golden Skull Cavern (Hidden Pocket Dimension)

Territory: None

Physique: None

Cultivation Technique: Golden Skull Slaughter Art

Description:
When the Nether Flame Dragon Dynasty (the Blackfyres) failed to usurp the Heaven Reaching Dragon Dynasty a hundred thousand years ago, the survivors did not flee the continent. They knew that a standing army could never survive the divine flames of the emperor's dragon mount. Instead, they abandoned their military formations, scattered into the shadows of the Western Continent, and reformed as the Golden Skull Sect—the most terrifying assassin organization in the Western Continent.

Hidden within a fragmented pocket dimension that shifts locations to evade imperial divinations, the sect operates on absolute secrecy and unbreakable soul-contracts. They do not care for domain borders or traditional clan honor, valuing only wealth, rare alchemical resources, and vengeance. Their Golden Skull Slaughter Art has evolved over centuries from a battlefield technique into a supreme path of assassination. It focuses on absolute breath-concealment, shadow-walking, and one-hit fatal strikes designed to directly shatter a target's dantian and soul, ensuring the victim cannot escape even if they possess a Nascent Soul. While they operate as high-priced killers-for-hire, rumors persist that the sect's inner circle still harbors the last royal bloodline of the Nether Flame Dragon Dynasty, quietly hoarding wealth and waiting for the perfect moment to strike the great clans while they are distracted by court intrigue.
