Toaru Story Choice Thread (Idea Thread Of Mine)

Honestly, with the sheer lack of stories in the Toaru archives, anywhere, I want to write my own basic piece. The problem is, I have four ideas I want to go with, and can't pick between them. So I'd like to hear feedback from you guys.

1) - This idea starts with Touma interfering during Kuroko's first big arrest, form when she's still going through Judgement training. More in the sense that Touma idles past on the rush to a sale, and jumps in before Misaka can, runs it, jabs out the robber, makes sure everyone is okay, then leaves, only to bump into Misaka when he rushes out, call her a little girl and then rush off - pissing her off and making her chase him, and basically triggering a similar relationship to the one she has with him in canon, only beginning two years before canon.

2) - This idea is basically Misaka coming clean about Touma being the one to save her and Uiharu from the Graviton Bombing, leading to either him joining Judgement, or becoming a consultant to them.

3) - This idea focuses on right after the Aqua of the Back arc, with the Brittish Halloween Arc postponed a few weeks, and Index basically going on vacation with Kanzaki, leaving Touma free of responsibilities. Though, he's now very aware of his limitations to a degree, and decides to train with Imagine Breaker, with the help of Misaka. Will probably have him getting involved in the Battle Royale Arc.

4) - This idea is completely different from the rest. A Toaru/Pokemon Crossover, since the new gen 8 games are about to drop. Would be a world where humans are born with an affinity in like Naruto, and they in general work like Esper powers - these affinities alongside giving them powers, would also let them have an affinity with pokemon that match their affinity. Academy City would basically be an independent region, and still focused on System, or in this case, the legendary pokemon, and those who have the potential to control them. Like Misaka would be a Level 5 still, both because of her power, and her potential to possibly control electric type legendaries. there would also be a lot of tournament based things going on, to basically promote the trainers to grow stronger and such.

 

The only one I don't like is 4.

I wonder if No 1 would change the whole "Onisama" stuff? Would Kuroko be about Misaka, or Torma?

 

Not especially, despite the fact that Misaka saved her canonically, Kuroko didn't know it was her that did it, and even had a slightly antagonistic relationship with Misaka when she first started attending Tokiwadai. So while I think Kuroko would be on the lookout for Touma, it won't change what her original plans were. All these ideas will focus on Touma and Misaka, no.1 just has more focus on it because there isn't any plot at that point. Granted, Touma at that point in time did have ties into the dark side of Academy City already.

#2 sounds like A Certain Strange Addition on FF.net,

#1 could work but I feel Mikoto would be more antagonistic to Touma than canon.

#3 could work but I'm not sure how Mikoto would feel being on the same side as Accelerator and Mugino given the fact that they were essentially the good guys of the arc.

#4 Ehhhhh.... it'd be weird for everyone to have powers in a world like pokemon, even if the vast majority of people have Fight/Normal affinity, simply making it such that people tend to focus towards certain pokemon and AC being interested in finding out how you can quantify that focus to determine what sort of pokemon a trainer will gravitate towards from the very beginning. Mikoto for instance would focus on Electric and Steel types, I'd guess Jolteon, Raichu, Thundurus, Steelix, Magnezone, and Electivivre, presumably starting the series with either just a Pikachu or Eevee and going from there.

 

Honestly, as far as the pokemon one goes, the biggest hurdle I'm having in regards to it is actually picking pokemon that fit Touma. The most that fit with him are dragons, Lucario with the way it senses using aura plus being a fighting type, and Rampardos.

What pokemon do you guys think would fit Touma?

Those fit Accelerator more than Touma lol.

 

Well if we go with Touma putting out a jack of all trades team that would basically hard counter most opponents,

Mikoto: Electric/Steel which would necessitate a Pure Ground type; so Marowak, Dugtrio, Sandslash, Groudon, Hippowdon and Mudsdale being the only all Ground Pokemon. Groudon would obviously slaughter Mikoto but that's endgame so i'd say Marowak
Accelerator: Psychic/Fairy for the most part i'd guess so a Ghost/Fire type would probably be your best bet. Chandelure is the only one of those, alternatively i can see him going for a Banette
Stiyl: He's fire so a water type maybe water/ground so i'd say Swampert.
Those 3 cover most sort of opponents he's likely to face so maybe Glavantula for Water/Flying types, maybe a Roserade for Fairies and other grass types, and a Charizard that never listens to him unless the chips are down for a his fire type.

His big issues are going to be normal/fighter type trainers.

 

Mostly, I want to go with a theme of pokemon that fits his canon character. so maybe;

1) Charizard - To fill the roll of Touma's actual inherent power being that of a dragon.

2) Gyarados - A Magikarp would suit Touma since his ability as an esper is regarded as the weakest. The seemingly useless power that actually turns out to be overpowered.

3) Lucario - A fighting type to fit with Touma's main source of combat, not to mention its sensing powers that could reflect Touma's precognition.

4) Absol - The bad omen pokemon, a reference to his terrible luck.

5) Kecleon(Maybe?) - A reference to the Invisible Thing with it being able to camouflage with anything.

6) Rock Head Aggron - I'd go with Rampardos, but someone else already has a story with Touma having a Rampardos that plays a big role, so Aggron would be a good second to it I'm thinking.

 

The issue with Touma is that for all that he wins his fights by punching opponents he gets hard stopped by someone that stronger than him physically. In pokemon terms he'd rely on nerfing his opponents Special attack/defense and then hitting with his strongest attack.Though that'd be an HM rather than a specific pokemon so the list seems pretty good.

 

He really doesn't though? The times Touma actually loses a fight is rare. The first three off the top of my head he loses are against Kanzaki, a Saint, Tsuchimikado a magician/esper hybrid and this is only a few days after he fights Accelerator and like two weeks after losing his memories, and then Acqua of the Back, who is much stronger than even Kanzaki. Thing is, in his fight with Kanzaki, he manages to tag her with a punch, and this chick can actually move at hypersonic speeds. Then a few weeks after his fight with Tsuchimikado, he can take Orianna Thompson head on, who defeated Tsuchimikado . Then two months or so after his fight with Acqua, Touma starts fighting people even stronger than him and doing better than he did against Acqua.

Touma's durability and stamina are insane. His agility is top tier too, since he scaled the falling debris of a building, to run up and catch Kuroko, and then land on the fourth story or so after dealing with the teleportation thing going on. And as far as physical strength goes, when he punched Sherry Cromell, she flew 16.5 feet, and that is a literal quote from the Light Novel. He had no set up or anything there, he just stepped in for a punch. That's several times the force of the strongest punch ever recorded. A lot of people bag on Touma saying he'd get owned by trained fighters, but that really only happened in specific situations, and only really twice off the top of my head, against Tsuchimikado, which I've already addressed and then he gets pinned by a soldier or two in Denmark, but he had fought a bunch of people before that and taken tons of damage. Besides, he takes down a bunch of soldiers alone during World War III.

 

Acqua and kanzaki are mostly who I'm thinking of in terms of Fighters that simply out class him, but that's the point really, the sort of opponent Touma will have issues with is one who is hyper-focused on direct combat Fighting moves.

 

Only if they horrendously outclass him, and even then, canonically Touma gets stronger or better at fighting through each fight he takes part in. I mean, after he starts protecting Othinus, he takes on Kanzaki, Knight Leader, Acqua and Princess Carissa. Granted, he just got through fighting thousands of times against Othinus and his fighter IQ went up immensely.

 

Didn't Acqua gets stripped of his status as a Saint after WW3 or something? I'm pretty sure he got nerfed to the ground at least.

 

Yeah, he was still immensely powerful though, and he was teamed up with the other three.

 

What would you guys do if you got inserted into Touma's body after he loses his memories and all that?

 

Scream inside my head and pray to god and anyone else listening that they will help me survive and not screw everything up.

Dude gets hospitalized and beaten within an inch of his life like every one or two weeks according to the timelines I have seen and a lot of fights are close and depend on others helping him at the right times. If Stiyl doesn't do his illusion trick at the right moment to make him look unharmed, he would have died to Izzard. Don't remember how they won against that clone of his too.. so that is gonna be tricky.. Accelerator is... possibly doable.. he sucks at fighting early in the story due to not taking anyone serious.. but that only works if I get Touma's combat skills... and I may still need Misaka & the sisters to do the anti-plasma thing at the end to stop him just nuking everyone..

I probably won't get lucky/unlucky and just run into a Sister either.. but may be able to bullshit Misaka by saying I know about what is going on because reasons... otherwise a lot more Sisters die as I try to find them.

Angel Fall Arc I may actually be able to fix easily because I know the exact plot beforehand. (Though there is still that serial killer from the novel loose.) Some of the later arcs are gonna get tricky because by that point set-up and timing will be so out of whack and nobody will be at the right place at the right time. Touma gets his butt saved so many times by people, like that one time when he was being hunted by Hound Dog and Misaka blocked them off for him.

On the other hand, if I can survive until mid-series I may be able to take advantage of my growing network of allies. Touma always tried to fix everything himself even when asking others for help was an option. (Though to be fair I would feel kinda like shit for asking a middle schooler to help me in a deadly battle.) That said, some fights I won't get any help like against Vento because her Divine Punishment cockblocks anyone not super high level or with a specific counter. And asking her to help with Acqua is just getting her to commit suicide by Saint.. well he probably won't kill her but still...

Depending on how things go Accelerator's brain damage may be derailed and he could end up healthy or even dead.. in which case canon goes crying in a corner together with me. Dude may be covered in enough blood to drown someone, but without him someone else will need to guard Last Order or things could get worse very quickly...

Hmmm.. I may be able to get on Aleister's good side by revealing some of the late-story plot points.. he would probably feel heavily indebted if I told him about you know what and you know whom. Of course that could create its own problems...

Assuming I ignore responsibility and go for porn logic, there is a decent number of things usable for lewd purposes. The Bust Upper if I can get my hands on it, that one swimsuit which makes you super sexy (Assuming I can get a boy's version without the fainting issue.), aphrodisiac sun cream from the OVA. The sisters are basically one "you wanna do it?" from jumping Touma's bones and while Index and Misaka are potential violent thread, they may be tameable with sufficient funtime...

 

Id love to see any of these made especially number 1 cause id love to see how that would affect kuroko as well as misaka
