Yep, besides what Eternity said we have to do all the training asap or loose it.

 

Hmm if we kill the thing then we'll get a bunch of xp which will help with the costs .

 

If past experience is anything to go by we will get around 8-10 xp after this, which will clear almost all of the debt

Plus we got 20 xp as a gift when we opened our second thread of the quest, make of that what you will

Ah what the hell it's our best option right now and I will feel more secure with more defense anyways now that our regen just got disabled. I'll be pissed if that's Bright's fault. Doubly so if she did it on purpose.

It's Saturday and this thread is barely holding up, still we have 2 more pages to go, hope that Alexander will open new thread on SUNday.

I'm not sure we can get the 20 xp like the first time.

 

even if we don't the xp from this arc will clear 90% of the xp debt we are getting so its no big, and I know I would have been voting for these charms in the near future for just the reason I am now, they are really useful and effective charms to have on hand, so its not like its setting any plans back or anything.

Much like with HTT, its a basic tool for any Solar that they really should get as quickly as possible /laugh

some good news we see more of rwby girls abilities which we can adapt here. also i want issei to make that kill bot or azazel. cause it is too awesome not too.

 

Archery Charms? But that's also unfavoured and Dragon wave works off Athletics as well. Why train up archery? Instead of Athletics or digging into magic for ranged.

 

couldn't we make a charm or spell that would add homing to our range attacks? not as good as pure training in archery but at least a boost to our range attacks.

also a plot bunny just entered my mind as to why boosted gear isn't working. you know how most games where you have magic there is summoning magic right? well what if bright has managed to figure out how to manifest outside of issei's soul or how to have draig manifest outside of boosted gear. even if its only for a moment the sheer wtf factor not to mention if they have the ability to either tank a single hit for us or do a single attack would make things game changing wouldn't it? even if their power is only a fraction of what they would actually have that would be pretty amazing wouldn't it?

also have another comedic plot bunny about one of heavens strongest warriors but was deemed so horrible as to be sealed.

Perfect attacks are a Thing, and while Athletics charms are awesome, they are all about doing things just jumping higher or running faster, not hitting the target, the only thing that will have any effect on Dragon Wave will be excellency, but also if we are going to do as others have said and get a blaster from one of the exorcists then Archery charms, along with Firearm charms will be what we will be using with them most likely.

If we want more firepower at a distance we should invest in more magic, not in a completely new skill set. We have too many other things to invest in without spreading ourselves even thinner.

 

Oh, I'm not arguing that, I was just saying with other people saying they wanted us to got get a blaster that if we did end up doing that Archery charms would be in our future as it where, I personally think for the most part Dragon Wave has done its job and is unlikely to see a great deal of use from now on, simply because we will have better tools for that job, until/unless we get something that makes it economical, for want of a better word to use, gah does that make any sense at all? /frown god I hate the first few ours after I wake up, particularly when there is no caffeine around

Agreed. We've put a lot into melee and a bit into magic already, no point in picking up new skills to add to the pile. Especially if we do not have any need for them in the nearest future.

I honestly was debating the sledgehammer fist punch vs. ox stunning blow which would allow us to ignore all natural and non-magical soak but the mote cost was a bit much.
As for Dragon wave remember we are normally running around with huge overdrive mote pools we can afford the cost no problem. We have a high resistance score and stamina score that we really haven’t bought the charms to take advantage of I suggest that our next purchase be this charm.

at current this would give us 7soak and 1 hardness for one purchase

We should also expand our magic and add trap, impediment, and support spells as well as a larger elemental range.

 

Well the mote cost is a thing, plus we are a Solar so we use the Hero text for Prereqs for Charms when it comes to Fist of the Daystar

Duration: Instant
Prerequisites: Fist of the Daystar Form

The Essence-driven fists of the Sun's Chosen lay even the mightiest low. This Charm enhances an unarmed Martial Arts attack. The enhanced attack ignores the target's non-magical sources of soak. Every success on the damage roll imposes a -1 internal penalty upon the target until the end of the scene.

Hero: Solar Exalted ignore all natural soak in addition to all non-magical soak. The prerequisite is Sledgehammer Fist Punch.

Which means we need Sledgehammer Fist Punch first if we want to get Ox-Stunning Blow.

if we didn't we would already have Sledgehammer Fist Punch as you need it and Dragon Coil before you can get the Form Charm, And yeah, Invincible Essence Reinforcement is nice, After we have things like Iron Kettle Body, because 7 soak is not going to be enough, hell 17B/15L may not be enough but its better then nothing.

But all in all, yeah there is a lot of stuff in the training list we need to work on magic wise, not just spells themselves, but getting our casting skill up so we can cast spells without throwing motes at them to make up for exhaustion

 

No it doesn't eternity. We can go with the hero text or the normal text. Whichever is to our benefit.

 

maybe so but its generally silly to, like learning Heaven Thunder Hammer without learning Sledgehammer Punch Fist, as you need SPF to make HTH activate, or Crashing Wave Throw, which needs Dragon Coil Technique to do anything useful; the Charm chains are built as they are for a reason more often then not that's because to get best use out of the charms you need the pre-requisite charms.

With Ox-Stunning Blow much like HTH that's Sledgehammer Punch Fist, it CAN be used without it unlike HTH but you get much less effect out of it if you do. And if you really want to be nit picky then you would need Fist of Iron=>SFP&DCT=>FotDS Form to get the normal charm requirement rather then the Hero text one.

I've honestly never understood that argument as to why someone wouldn't call the police. I mean, why does that have to automatically mean telling the police a monster is attacking? What possible reason could they have not to call the police and tell them that there is a freaking hostage situation/large fight breaking out? Calling the police can easily done without having to say that it's a monster or anything crazy sounding like that.

Edit: Huh, this is apparently my first post here. Wow, I could have sworn I'd posted before now, but I guess not. :-[

Anyway, I guess that explains why I haven't been able to upvote posts before now. Also, I just wanted to say that this has been an awesome quest so far, and I've enjoyed both it, and the casual and polite discussions in the rest of the thread. I really don't see that happen too often.
