Video Games General

GTA6 will probably have more money spent promoting it than AC8 had in both its budget, and total sales, so this will probably unfortunately come true.

Which just goes to further illustrate what's going to kill AAA gaming.

AC8's soundtrack is another blast as well, btw.
I do hope they get best soundtrack. Cause I can't think of another game that released this year with as good of a soundtrack. There has certainly been no other game that I have actively found the songs on youtube just to listen to again.

Bad news, it's over for Mass Effect. EA to cut 400 jobs and BioWare is officially shut down. Likewise Mass Effect 5 is officially canceled.

They should have released a bootleg Blood Bowl using the Dragon Age IP.

It would have been a sports game, and EA would have funded it. :V

We all know this was not a natural death but a murder decades in the making.
It wasn't, actually.

Literally everything Bioware did, it did to itself. Just look at Anthem's development cycle for proof. It was always Bioware management at the core of the problems, promising things to EA for funding that they either had never planned for or couldn't deliver.

One famous story is that as a producer was pitching things to their bosses, coders were real time coding in features to the demo being played.

EA was to blame for ME2, ME3, and Dragon Age 2 being rushed. They were also the ones to be blamed for pushing the Frostbyte engine for future games which really fucked Inquisition and Andromeda. Inquisition's problems was Frostbyte ( they literally did not have the ability to save games until the beta version of the game years into development), releasing it on old Gen consoles and being hampered by their limitations (apparently a decision by Bioware not EA), and stupid Bioware dev decisions like wanting to compete with Skyrim in the open world department. Andromeda was half Frostbyte being god awful, the only reason things weren't worse was because the Dragon Age team already laid most of the groundwork on making Frostbyte usable, and half incompetent bioware management.

Anthem was all on them. Veilguard was Bioware moving most of Dreadwolf's team to Anthem for additional crunch manpower and EA canceling it later because the then current team couldn't finish it. EA then later rebooted it as a live service mmo lite game and then canceled and rebooted it again a few years later upon eventually realizing live service was stupid. The god awful writing and other shit was all on Bioware though.

Wrong, actually. That was also Bioware.

Those games not having a solid plan until 40% of the way through also fucked them. Probably more than the engine did, lol.

That's a devs being shit issue. Frostbyte has had save capabilities since inception.

That was also at least partially bioware, according to interviews. See: they did the same shit with Anthem.

Mass Effect was a phenomena. ME1 was an event you just had to experience, ME2, while flawed, elevated the series to something that could rival Star Wars and other great works at the time in terms of cultural recognition and relevance.

Then they decided to destroy everything they've worked on for years with the third one, and no amount of gaslighting the audience managed to save Andromeda.
