Honestly, I'm kind of a new writer in this server up until recently, but I wanted to try my hand at writing my own sort of Pokemon story here in QQ. However, there is only one issue that being that I have no idea what kind of Pokemon Fanfic tropes to take note of. I do wanna have fun with the usual stuff I learned (apparently people give Pokemon some words to say for the audience but not directly) but I also know there are various kinds of stories out there aside from the NSFW stuff that I have yet to explore.

So basically, my question is what kind of Pokemon Stories do you like, what kind of stories would you recommend to a new reader like me, and if I were to write one Pokemon Story, what would one usually like to see?

To be honest I only like Pokemon crossovers.
Probably makes me less of a Pokemon fan but plain Pokemon fanfics just don't do it for me. I suppose part of it is if I want to experience a regular Pokemon adventure I can just play a Pokemon game.
Some of my favorites include The Very Best and Harry Mewter, both HP/Pokemon crossovers, the first has Harry creating Pokemon the latter him being Pokemon.
The one I love most though is Doom: The Kanto Saga, wherein Marvel's Doctor Doom finds himself in the Pokemon world and proceeds to dominate in his own special way. Absolute crack though, the real Doom wouldn't play around nearly as much, presumably he'd have taken down a town in under a dozen chapters, mass manufactured Doom bots as he does and taken over Kanto long ago.

Hey, to be fair, that's not really a problem if I am being honest. Pokemon Crossovers are hella fun because of the potential they bring. But that being said, I do like the idea of a crossover more often than not.

Thanks for giving a response, I'll check those stories out.

Hey it's all a bit late this one but the kind of stories I typically like for Pokemon are just genuinely proper growth stories. Does that have the trainer and the Pokemon actually grow and be smarter in their fights and stuff like that. One of my off-time favorite series was the road to Pokemon Master which had Ash actually growing and improving with each region he went to. And I definitely prefer the actual just biological growth and result from training over numerical experience points and levels. I can understand that certain Pokemon are built for defense because they're biologically built for defense and things like that and they can also get tougher or glass cannons could be a little bit more durable due to training to do so. I am not a huge fan of the dark stories. In some ways I like that certain Battle of dealing with criminals have some Stakes but in all honesty I go back to and reread a bunch of stories that at least keep it more so on the side of it's still Pokemon it's still a kid show and that sort of thing. One thing I do like at the anime didn't really well especially during the portion of it was when the characters are coming up with really cool combinations or variations of a certain attack like the spin Dodge the ice aquajets the counter Shield stuff like that.

You, my good sir, have very good taste in Pokemon Stories. Progression through biological means or through extensive training is a lot of fun to work with compared to just using points and level. In fact, I like to go with the fact that most Pokemon in my story will lean into their biological or trained strategies and biology.

That being said, I appreciate the thought.
