Writing for Commissions/Tips

    I've seen a lot of people on this site who take commissions or who have Patreons for their writing, and I've been considering getting in on that trend. Partly because, as a painfully middle-class college student, a spare bit of spending money is never not-welcome, and partly because I hope that monetizing some of my content will motivate me to make more of it.

    So I wanted to ask you all, writers, readers, and commissioners alike: what's the best way to set up a digital tip-jar? Patreon is, by far, the go-to standard, but it has the expectation that I will put out regular content, which unfortunately isn't something I can always find time to schedule, particularly with classes coming up. There's also the problematic legality of being contracted to write fanfiction, which tends to be most of the stuff I write nowadays to consider. On the other hand, I found this site a while ago called Ko-fi, which seems to function as a literal online tip jar, which is more along the lines of what I want to have set up.

    Thoughts?
