Video Games General

I recently played TEVI. It's a pretty good Metroidvania with Bullet Hell aspects. The combat and movement are really fluid and I like the Sigil system that let's you customize how you play by augmenting your attacks. Some of them give attacks new properties, some of them make attacks stronger at the cost of one less use during a combo, and some of them let you get HP or MP back on moves you use a lot. I liked exploring and finding all the pickups but the fact you can't drop through platforms takes some getting used to. A lot of the level design is built around the fact you can't do that and need to find other ways around. Some of the puzzles involving that are a pain in the ass to solve or have obtuse answers but otherwise only mildly frustrating. I had a harder time with platforming to some of the hidden sigils than figuring out how to get around (except Misty Maze, fuck Misty Maze). The world of Az is fun to explore, even when it gets annoying.

On the story front, I liked it for the most part. The game starts getting dark pretty quickly and only tends to get darker, though it never wallows in it and overall has pretty uplifting themes. Basically "bad things happen, but that doesn't mean you give up" is the simplest way I'd describe it. I really enjoyed the main characters and most of the side characters. Very few of the characters actually annoyed me (the one that really did is specifically designed to be and is so to the characters themselves), though there's a point where Tevi starts feeling frustrated by the people in charge seeming to just not care about what's going on and I was right along with her. The story itself is kind of meandering and feels like it's not following any coherent path until towards the end where things start to piece together a bit more. I can't say I'm particularly fond of how things tied up though.

Overall, I really enjoyed the game. I have 33 hours played and the story, by itself, probably makes up about 20 hours if I cut out side quests and general exploration. It's a $30 game, and while I greatly enjoyed it, I'd recommend waiting for a sale before picking it up.

Warning: Project Neneveh keadership, seems to be idiots, that can only see their own reality. And can't accept criticism.

They banned me very quickly for... saying that mocking racists is good.

I will have vacation and I wonder if I should try again Elden Ring. I have apprehention because of the difficulty and the size of the game. So, to see if I like this stile of game I try again Nioh.
I do not know why but after a few death, the game slow down. Because of this I cannot fully appreciate the game, and I do not even speak about the gameplay in this condition.
My PC is not recent, but I do not think that it's the only cause.
I really do not know if I should try ER again during my vacation. My problem with the open world is that I lose a lot of time in useless exploration.

I just found out today that Star Control was rebranded to Free Stars and that they're Kickstarting a sequel. God Jesus Fuck I haven't been this excited for a game in a while.

God I can't wait to see all the old and new weird and quirky aliens. Will I get to see more of a Chmmr's body? Do Spathi move around on a mini-mecha body like their robotic looking pinchy pinchers suggest? Are the Orz going to launch a Lovecraftian invasion on the galaxy? How is Frungy played?

Now if only SoulCalibur 7 would come out. Or 8, whichever one ends up with Ivy in her SC 4 outfit.

More important question. Do we get the proper Syreen that we were denied in the old Star Control 3?

So, Pokérogue is a fun roguelite. Pity it's going to go the way all successful Pokémon fan games do.

Looks at the current state of gaming
I don't think it's possible to get a cougar in that outfit anymore :V
But they've already had Ivy, and Tira, and Mi-na, and Sophitia looking the way that they did in SC6, they had lewd custom costumes, the game had clothing damage. LET ME HAVE HOPE.

If anyone misses Diablo 1 and wants to short play a near different perspective in a lookalike (browser based), on bippinbits you can play Tristram's Mayor.

I killed about 20 minutes of time with it. Not bad.

Call for adventurers, hire or not based on their capabilities and classes, maybe become sugar daddy to promising few, spend collected taxes on revitalising the blacksmith and alchemy shop buildings so hell's taint can be ripped and torn out of the old chapel it uses as an invasion starting point.

Finally picked up Codename Bakery after taking a few weeks of a break. Chappie 4, Final Battle 2 map.

What in the absolute everloving fuck.

Can I replay this map after I've got access to nukes? Because it feels like I need some fucking nukes. There better be some fucking tactical nukes I can call in.

I mean, cruise missiles are fine, but this fucking heresy needs some Oppenheimer's Light to burn it all away.

Heh. I know the feeling. Have fun~

Ender Magnolia? I was not expecting something like Ender Lilies again. That is nice.
Currently playing the Early access for Ender Magnolia.

Already noticing that there is a lot more dialogue compared to Ender Lilies, Lilac is not a mute protagonist and more than just the main summon will talk during rests/conversations.

Lots more NPCs to talk to as well.

They're mentioning Blight again, just like in Ender Lilies.
But as something that infiltrates Homunculi to their very souls.

I'm worrying because they're also talking about artificial life.

Is this a sequel or a prequel?

Edit: As it's early access we only get the first handful of areas, however it's a solid 3-4 hours of content I've found.

Bosses are decently challenging and Mili is doing the soundtrack.

Woooo Pistol Whip is getting new songs! Heavy Metal too!

I also really appreciate all the new songs being free. I might buy a DLC from them at this point, if it's a reasonable value, but they just keep dropping free sets.

*glances over at Beat Saber's over $400 of DLC music on top of the thirty dollar base game that comes with maybe a dozen songs?*

I also really appreciate that none of the music really sucks, unlike Beat Saber, which seems to mostly comprise of rap or- what's the word? Chiptune speedmix stuff? Also pop. The Queen and Daft Punk packs are tempting, but I don't feel interested enough to actually buy them. Also they aren't packs and I'd have to search through the 203 separate songs to buy them, I think.

The only problem with Pistol Whip is no mod scene, but that's hardly a point to Beat Saber when every update breaks mods so you can't play your modded songs about 75% of the time and player/saber models haven't worked since three months after I got the game. There are downloadable songs for Pistol Whip, but not many and most of them hardcore difficulty.

By the way, if some of you wondered what the hell Guardian saw that made him want to immediately nuke the shit out of it... Here you go

Wait... what the fuck is this insanity!

You're already outnumbered, and there's no good position to take.

Do you have to effective micro around the buildings because god damn this looks like hell.

Well, you could deploy some items to slow or impede the enemy, deploy some items like turrets and burst through enough of the enemy the numbers become manageable, call in some super-expensive cruise missiles to blow up enough of them, and so on. You actually have first turn advantage, so there's a lot of options.

The unpleasant part is that these particular shitnugget enemies explode for super-high damage, respawn, and your units can become infected and turn into zombies. Also, Sugar is the strongest boss enemy in the game so far, and she's also immortal for the duration of the mission.

Oh, and the hands will start spawning boss-class enemies that can pretty much one-shot any of your units if you don't deal with them quickly enough.

In other words, the map can be a little bit tricky, and made me wish I had access to the armored train from the previous mission.

It's not the full map either.

This is essentially an escape map. You can in fact kill those hands if you properly use your items an dskills that are made exactly to counter those things. But the boss itself will give pursuit.

After a set number of turns, part of the flesh walls are burned down to give you an escape point.

So if anyone imagined it was bad with eh above... It get worse. And I feel like sharing.

Like, did they take inspiration from Resident Evil or something?

One may take issues with teh story, sure, but hot damn did they put a lot of effort in this. And to ensure they make us work to win.

I'm with Bear_Mint. I'd hit it. I mean, assuming they wouldn't consume me as part of whatever the hell they are, not actually familiar with the game.

Yes I know they probably would, but the "would you hit it" rules let you ignore automatic death clauses.
