General chat thread

I'm pretty sure that the beard on the left side of my face is growing slightly faster than the right side. Is that normal?

I used to trim my beard free-handed and it happened to me then, I was just cutting it slightly uneven. It could also just be a bit more hair growing in that spot, my beard grows slightly crooked on the bottom making it look fuller on my right side so I have to shave it weirdly.

I've yet to do any trimming other than making sure my mustache stays out of my mouth.

<shrug> I might be imagining it, even if I'm not it's not a huge unevenness as of yet so I'll let everything fill out more before any beard trimming.

Also, a friend I haven't spoken to in a decade got in touch. He's in town for a short while, long haul trucker who really hits those long hauls, he came out and looked at my car and bought me a Big Mac.
Battery is great, brand new and shit, dontcha know?
It's the starter.
He says his ex and kids are taking most of his spare cash or he'd buy me one. If I get one he's 100% sure he can install it though.

After he left I ended up blowing that Big Mac meal out both ends, but it was worth it because it was the best tasting meal I've had in awhile.

How's your phone and car insurance situation, by the way?

Hell, outside of spaces with people who are very media savvy involving obscure and niche porn, you'd probably be hard pressed to find someone who knows what MGE even is, let alone be part of its fandom.
I had to explain to a friend of mine what MGE is because she saw some merchandise and thought her kid would like it. Which is true, but not how she intended.

Really, without climate control the car isn't nearly so nice to have in this situation.
Mornings have been kind of a tease, mild to start followed by brutal heat that beats the hell out of me.
Coming up with a starter for my car is going nowhere, of course.
Honestly, it's pretty cool to be given five gallons of water considering how close dehydration looms every day but I really want to start my car sometime soon and my friend won't be in town forever.
Still the fact that those who respond to my panhandling do so with goods rather than cash has kept me from starving thus far, so it's not all bad.

While others can't swear at each other while watching or reading.
might I introduce you to the concept of groupwatch?

>text communication software (IRC, etc)
>a group of people (observed sweet spot 3-4 participants total)
>a copy of whatever you're watching
>optional (suggested): if it is an international cultural conference across multiple nationalities and continents, agree on a timezone to use when talking about scheduling and such for ease of communication. so everyone won't have to calculate between everyone's different timezone differences when someone mentions a time
>optional (suggested): if the conference is small enough, you can agree on a backup cultural art project to enjoy between the different, smaller nominations of participants if one or more are unable to join the scheduled event
>on the day of, prepare sip (suggested) and snacc (optional)
>when the time comes, everyone reports their readiness and when all have been confirmed prepared, one of the participants (suggested: the one who chose the cultural piece of media, unless prevented by outside effects such as being forced to use a mobile device for communication) counts down and everyone hits play on 0.
>you may communicate with each other through the superior text in/output rather than crude vocal communication that would disrupt the enjoyment of the cultural arts.
>if one has to leave for a reason or another, inform the rest with a brb or such, and all pause, going back to the timestamp (suggested: frame) the one who had to leave. when they return, everyone reports their readiness once again before re-enacting the countdown. (beware of the brb spiral)
>in case of disruptances caused by boomers, zoomers, canines, hardware failure, software failure, playback failure, internet failure, meteorological failure, arboreal failure, structural failure, clockwork failure, or other such event, please inform the rest of the participants if there is need of a brb and/or resynchronisation.
>"wait I missed what he said/what happened" is not a reason to pause and go back
>"I lost internet connection" is not a reason to pause and go back

might have missed some things, but it kind of spontaneously grew into a general guide somewhere along the line

Ugh. I hate looking at McDonald's all the time. It gives me almost crippling cravings.
Like this morning. I'd… maybe not kill, but at least beat the piss out of someone for some sausage McMuffins.

Instead, I have some potted meat, one of those rare foods that no amount of hunger can make taste better. One of those things that you either like or don't and nothing changes it. Shits nauseating. I'm still going to choke it down. But I'd rather be back on the pickles and beans.

Tuesday. My friend that can fix the starter is back to trucking on Wednesday so I have til then, more or less.
