Amy Dallon, Herald of Andraste has been something I've been working on for a little over two years now, counting planning, playing & Recording DAI and writing. It's over 500,000 words, over 11,000 words per chapter on average and it has consumed HUGE amounts of my decision bandwidth.
I loved writing this fic. I discovered a lot as I wrote it - the fic was always going to focus on Amy and her issues and her growth through them, but I discovered how goddamn wordy Amy can be when working through her issues - and how much I enjoyed writing that. I discovered Katerina as I wrote her, finding her voice from early concepts and creating one of my favorite OCs for a fic ever (not that I have many fic OCs, but).
It was long, and it could have been shorter. There's definitely stuff I could have cut out - even given that the 'point' of the story was Amy's issues and not the actual plot of DAI (that was just the vehicle for Amy's issues to be worked through) but I enjoyed writing them and presumably you enjoyed reading them. And while they might not have been 'necessary' I often used them to develop storyline bits here and there, even if not to the same degree as other stuff. But at the same time... it was still a lot of words. And that meant...
This fic has been a lot to write. I've put other projects to the side, I've been living and breathing Amy and Dragon Age for the last year especially. I'm not stopping with this series, Book 2 is going to happen.
BUT, you are going to have to wait.
The first chapter of this fic was posted March 23rd, 2025. The closest Sunday to the 2nd Anniversary of that date is March 21st, 2027. So, barring major health complications, massive life changes or the like, that's when you can expect chapter 1 of Amy Dallon, Inquisitor to go live. I will of course be posting in this thread a link to the first chapter of the next work. In the meantime, I will be working on some other stuff - I have some original projects, an Arcane fic and possibly a new BtVS fic all on consideration or in the process of being started. Whether or not they'll be something you're into is of course something you'll have to determine for yourselves, but as I said, I'll see you all again in March of 2027, at a minimum.
This is my most popular work of fanfiction, and from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much to everyone who liked, commented, subscribed, followed, kudos'd, bookmarked, and so forth.
