hello,

is there somewhere a documentation that explain how those number are caculated?
I'm trying to understand how they work but the two number don't seem to evoluated at the same rate

Okay, similar thread to this one got me partial answer on that one : Member count in the last 7 days who have read a threadmark created in the last 7 days
So i'm guessing it's would be only the members (not the guests) that visited in the week that follow the last post. And those are distinct visits

Thank you in advance :)

Views is the total number of times anyone clicked on your thread to read it. So if one guy reads it 10 times, it will show up as 10 views.

Recent readers is the number of unique users who opened your thread over the last 7 days. It's calculated based on unique views following each threadmark, if there was a threadmark within that 7-day period, and will reset to zero if you go 7 days without making a threadmark post.

I have an additional question

I was under the impression that "Users who are viewing this thread"
Users%20who%20are%20viewing%20this%20thread.jpg

are the people that currently have a tab open with that thread

But at the same time, on the profile, it's possible to do the opposite, to go to the profile and see what a specific person is currently doing
Profil.jpg

And I'm a little confused, because it doesn't match
I'm seeing people that are on the thread based on the thread, but elsewhere based on their profile
And I'm seeing people that are NOT on the thread based on the thread, but are supposed to be on the thread based on their profile
(And there is also what I expected, people that are on the thread both on the thread and in their profile)
And to finish confusing me, I don't have the impression that if I added up all the people on the thread during one hour, I would get the same total as the bump in recent readers 🫠

So, can anyone help me to understand how it works?

(Why am I looking at that anyway? I'm getting readers, but not comments, so I'm trying to check a hypothesis: if the readers that came aren't commenting on other threads either, then, nothing to be done. I'm read by silent readers.

But on the other hand, if they comment on everyone else's threads, then, I'm doing something wrong.

But then I realized that I don't understand how the system works :p)

From personal experience, the profile shows the last page the user viewed, while the bottom of a thread is 'this user viewed this page in the last 15/20 minutes (unsure exactly)', so they frequently don't match. They don't update instantly either, as I've gone to my profile and seen 'viewing forum list' before (when it should say I'm looking at my profile), but it updates fairly frequently.

(Reiterating this is just my experience, not based on any behind the scenes info or detailed experimentation.)

Generally, only a fraction of a fraction of the people reading/watching would leave a comment. Active users are more likely to do so but even if you see that they do leave comments in other story's that doesn't mean much.

I follow hundreds of threads/stories and even write my own, you just don't have the time to be commenting on very single one.

Hello Singularity

I understand that I shouldn't expect to get a lot of reactions, but I was kind of expecting a difference between not a lot and none.
I wouldn't worry about having only a few.

I have recent readers, so there are people that click on it and I have a few watchers, so those are supposed to be at least a little interested

But I have no comments at all, despite inviting them.
So, I'm questioning my process
If you have any idea what makes readers more likely to comment, I'm all ears.
