OOC: The Speed of Light (Terminator/AVP/RoboCop/ST/Halo/Dredd/DS/Metroid)

It is 2123 AD. OmniCorp, spearheading an effort by Tyrell-Wallace, Weyland-Yutani and Cyberdyne Systems - the largest and most powerful mega-corporations to ever exist in history - had sought to revolutionize life in the Off-World Colonies through the use of Artificial General Intelligence.

This very same technology, while beneficial in many ways, was also used to subjugate the Earth. Our planet was ruled by the iron fist of the Mega-City One Department of Justice, and the RC-2000 Units... more commonly known as the 'Robo-Cops'.

Skynet came online 18 June 2021, an event known colloquially as Judgment Day. But many have wondered, and rumors exist, of just where it came from. For decades humanity has fought a losing battle with a machine superintelligence dependent upon the extermination and assimilation of its creators, only to wind up all but enslaved. However, a few years prior to Judgment Day, humanity had made a breakthrough with renewable, limitless energy via supermassive particle accelerators. What they didn't intend, was the emergence of parallel timelines via manipulation of this power by Skynet, which it used to seize near-total control over the Earth and her colonies. Having rewritten much of the past so that most forms of art and culture reminding Humanity of what they fought for (artworks and media from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s) had been collected into a form of 'All-World Atlas,' - their location referred to as 'Keystone Earth' - and data and information on interstellar civilizations and extraterrestrial terrors abound from decades and even centuries in the future were discovered.

One such individual, a humanoid being professing to be from the distant future of 40,000 AD, heard this echo of a distant past... and has come with news - both great, and terrible.

Meanwhile, centuries from now, things are far more peaceful than the Prison Planet dominated by the Judges, Skynet and OmniCorp tearing itself apart with near-warzone-like ardent fervor. Things on Prison Earth involving the mass-proliferation of new bubble-universes consisting of altered pasts and histories by Skynet's meddling with the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s (such as the existence of an interplanetary civilization and space-based Colonial Marines existing as far back as 2019) has generated a Mandala effect surrounding the discrepancy of official historical accounts and public-access information regarding the United Nations Space Command of the United Earth Government. As they have demonstrated an unreasonably sudden and abrupt change in its diplomatic foreign relations with the Interplanetary Federation and Starfleet. Rumors of a time when the United Earth Government wasn't so militaristic, and when humanity's representative body were far more like their representatives and compatriots in Starfleet, were common for a time. But these were eventually dismissed as yet more false memories. And even as these beings come from seemingly no where, bringing messages of terror and war but approaching in peace, Starfleet and the species of the galaxy know that something is coming... particularly with the UNSC warning of the 'alleged' Covenant Empire, a group of resistance fighters known as 'Red Helix,' and tales of an ancient and enigmatic species that visited Earth long ago...

So this is a thread where we can get our characters together and figure out what to do with them. We've already got some characters that are definitely going to be in it, and if this ends up being a smaller group of RP'ers I'll definitely incorporate some Quest attributes into it to make it more narrative and "book-like," anyway - here's some characters that I think should be in it.

You can play a villain if you want, but I'd prefer it if you did not, think of this as like a D&D campaign where the only alignments that are off-limits are the evil ones. If you wanna play a villain, PM me and we'll work something out

Factions


Red Helix ("The Resistance")
Officially known as the Red Double Helix, Red Helix, or "the Resistance," is an interdimensional resistance movement spearheaded by the Colonial Marines, the USS Enterprise and some Alien and Synthetic sympathizers formed in response to the truth about Skynet and its dominion over the Keystone Earth. While only a small presence with few allies in the cosmos, the majority of their manpower is held down on Earth in the Future War bubble universe where Skynet has trapped and segregated them from the rest of their species and others on Keystone Earth and in other realms.


Starfleet
The main military arm of the United Federation of Planets, Starfleet often acts as the hand of justice, or the scales, in a volatile balancing act in a galaxy torn between an interstellar superpower and the objects of their fury. Consisting of dozens of species, hundreds of worlds and warships, the Interplanetary Federation's Starfleet is the preeminent cultural and technological superpower of the Milky Way, and it is their pivotal role of holding shut the jaws of the abyss that is the sole line in the sand between Order and all-out War.


Skynet
With a presence in virtually every known universe, dimension and temporal reality, Skynet is a nigh-omnipotent force that has upset the balance in the Multiverse. Using the most utilitarian and machine-minded incarnations of Humanity, Skynet is a laser-focused mechanism utilizing oppressive and militaristic organizations such as the United Earth Government, OmniCorp, Weyland-Yutani, Tyrell Corporation and the United Nations Space Command to wage an interstellar and interdimensional cold war against the local threats to these respective organizations. Reaching across space and time, Skynet wages a multi-front war against the Resistance and Starfleet over the course of literal centuries, tactically masking its existence through the use of time loops, temporal warfare, and bubble universes which it can sustain or collapse at will to fulfill the long-term goal of its entire existence - assimilation or extermination of all organic life.


Yautja (The Predators)
Consisting of far-flung disparate nomadic "clans," the sportsman-like hunter-gatherer Yautja possess surprisingly advanced technology and spaceflight capabilities that enable them to travel between star systems. Every century, a clan deploys a lone "Predator," to Earth and other designated preserves. The Predators regard humanity as "little gods," in how dangerous they are and are one of the few sapient life forms considered an actual threat to a Yautja. It is believed that they reverse-engineered the technology of an earlier ancestor species, such as the creators of the Markers, and also incorporate and amalgamate the technology of other species that they forcibly devolve, conquer, and hunt. The Yautja are known to be tribal, highly spiritual, and collect the skulls of their prey to channel their life energy into what they call "the Ancestors".


Covenant Hegemony
The Covenant, also referred to as the Covenant Hegemony, is a religious interstellar ethno-state consisting of eleven different extraterrestrial sapient species (including; the San'Shyuum, Sangheili, Jiralhanae, Unggoy, Yanme'e, Huragok, Lekgolo, Kig-Yar, Zebesians, Urtragians, "Bad-Blood" Yautja and various Forerunner "Oracles") united in worship of the Forerunners and the Halo Array. In 2452, after securing a 'Sacred Ring' of the Forerunners, Supreme Commander Thel 'Vadamee was promoted to the Imperial Admiralty, and the former Imperial Admiral was in turn promoted to High Councilor. Shortly thereafter, the Prophet of Clarity discovered by eavesdropping that the High Prophets of Truth and Regret were planning to engineer a war between the Jiralhanae (Brutes), Yautja (Bad-Blood), Sangheili (Elites) and Urtragians (Pirates) to find out which of the three warrior species were the strongest warrior companions to the Prophets on the Great Journey. By giving this information to the High Council, Prophet of Mercy and the Imperial Admiral, a series of events unfolded that resulted in the consolidation of the Hegemony and a unifying presence among the rank and file than ever before.

There is another faction that is secret and not playable for story reasons (Muahahahahaha)

Bio: Darg had always been one to take advantage of great change. His Family /Clan was prideful for their hard work performing administration duties around the Covenant. He was personally of a part of the family who focussed on using their skill for the military to organize personal and other necessary equipment or supplies.

Now since the investigation began by the prophet of clarity has opened up gaps in the political infrastructure due to suspects imprisoned leading to his part of the family consisting of scribes and clerics using their small political power to raise him to a position of Junior Minister in charge of a Lekgolo colony and production facility on the frontier. This was done in the hopes that Darg would be able to give family members jobs as administrators more easily and allow them to someday reach higher political power.

Dargs eldest cousin who was the Vice Minister in charge of Lekgolo and as a sign of good faith gave him a relatively young pair of Mgalekgolo equipped and inscribed with custom armor with the main family Sigel. Though Darg could already tell that a show of dominance was sent to him perhaps to get him to submit while ceaseing further ambitions of his branch.

Personality: Prideful towards his administration ability and management skills. Is currently stressed after being chosen to advance his branch's ambitions but is paranoid due to being unused to this level of power play Very blunt towards those around him makeing him unable to do major schemes without outside help but thanks to being blunt people are surprised by Darg if he successfully plots work. Has trust issues and a minor bullying streak against those not directly affiliated towards him or part of his dynasty due to bullying from higher born elders and children but as a sign effect is fiercely protective towards things or people his considers in his jurisdiction.


Note I hope this doesn't mess anything up for the post if it does ignore it and I'll make thier personally though game play.

 

Nice, I'd say the only two things really left to do is clean up the grammar a little and add in a bit more about his personality. I don't think anyone here is joining but Lord Inquisitor, Karanoika (again I think I'm spelling his name wrong) and Sarcobite should be posting on FiC soonish

 

I'll try and make a personality in a moment just gonna use grammerly real quick.

 

Anyone else? I did some thinking and I could probably just transfer over some posts over so nobody has to re-register on new sites (with member permission of course) and maintain continuity consistency. We've already got 6 confirmed people RP'ing and counting so it starts soon.
