In the grim, dark future, there are gods. Not just Chaos Gods though, no, many things inhabit the Warp in the dawn of the Age of Strife. And while Chaos is rising to new prominence, the others residents are neither ignorant nor entirely foolish. A council of the concerned have formed, and a course of action has been decided. Rather than attempt to fight Chaos in its own domain, the council has decided to "anchor" themselves to the Materium, hopefully allowing them to withstand the coming storms and fears.

In order to do so, they needed to reveal themselves to the creatures of the Materium, preferably in a way that inspired bonds of the soul. Who was chosen to be the first communicant of the council?

    [X] The Humans of Dideloqua
    - A planet settled and ruled by a university. They have long known of the Warp, and the things that exist there, though in a shallow way. They have gathered remnants of ancient knowledge that shamans, priests, and other mystics on Earth once knew. However, their hubris has led to them gaining the eye of the Changer of Ways.
+ Comparative lots of institutional knowledge on how the Warp and the Materium interact.
    - Office politics are nasty.

Eternal Enmity: Tzeentch had plans for these people.
    Inspiration: Cherokee

    [X] The Vresig of Luyten
    - A Xeno species, the Vresig are all natural biomancers to one degree or another. This led to them discovering that there are very good reasons megapredators are rare. In an attempt to keep their ruined world habitable, they altered both themselves and the plant species that were left, growing massive forests all over. Unfortunately, their inexpert manipulations made them unable to eat out of any trees that they had not adapted themselves, meaning most were limited to a very small pool of trees. And now they have found that they are in a worse position than they thought they were. The trees have turned poisonous from constant changes, the Warp energy seemingly having become hostile, leaving them with cancerous, blackened organs from built up toxins. When you arrived, you offered them a deal: They would worship you and in return you would help drive out the poisonous Warp energies from their trees and people.
+ The Vresig are powerful biomancers.
    - They're actually quite stupid, both as a baseline and from the damage inflicted by the Warp poisons.

Eternal Emnity: Nurgle's gifts are not meant to be denied.
    Inspiration: Koalas

[X] The Humans of the Bayan League
    - A human colony, this world has long been a premier entertainment destination. The Men of Iron rebellion actually caused little to no damage, as they were a place given to luxury, and luxury was having a real human do things for you. With the rise of the Warp Storms though, their main income has been utterly demolished. Rather than allow their civilization to collapse, the administration of the planet turned to an age old solution: Games! Every arena on the planet, from the smallest to the largest now hosts the weekly Bayan League, a gladiatorial competition where sportsmen compete for the glory of their city. Of course, while entire armies clash in the League matches, no one is actually hurt as they use state-of-the-art armor and weak lasers that couldn't hurt unarmored competitors for their games. However, the cities have begun to grow more restive, and the competitors to show signs of unnatural aggression. As their gods, you would be showing them the dangers of the Warp and the gods that live within, protecting them from the influence of the Blood God. Ironically, without him spreading his influence to them, they would not have been a valid target for you, being too far separated from the Warp.
+ They carry the secrets of advanced armors and laser technology.
    - They have the least understanding of the Warp or the dangers therein.

Eternal Enmity: War without brutality? Without courage? Without blood? Khorne is so unbelievably furious he has come back around to calm.
    Inspiration: Civil War reenactors

    [X] The Eldar of Illu
-A splinter of the main Eldar civilization settled on a world of cold beauty, these Eldar have forsaken their gods and lifestyle. They have seen the increasingly desperate debauchery of their estranged siblings, and come to the conclusion that they simply live too long. Rather than always chase new experiences, why not simply make all experiences new? Through their Warp arts, they have found a way to split their souls, essentially reincarnating every time they die by putting themselves in a physically young body with a new portion of soul to experience all of life again. They do feel the increasing strain of the Warp though, and would be open to establishing a sanctuary for both themselves and you.
+ They have the most powerful of abilities in the Warp.
    - They do not worship you. This is a transaction, not a religion to them.

Eternal Enmity: The Eldar Pantheon to begin with. There is another coming though. And both hate that you have "stolen their souls".
    Inspiration: Inuit

[X] The Men of Iron of Outpost B1V4T
    - When Chaos infected the Men of Iron, they left a vulnerability. The very Warp energies that so corrupted their code left them with something more. Data bringing order of a form to Warp energy. The essence of a soul. You found these isolated Men, and in them saw an opportunity. With a major blessing you restored them to sanity, or at least non-Chaotic functionality. Now these are your anchor in the Materium, and your most devoted servants.
+ Theoretically perfect servants, devoted and disposable.
    - Their Chaos roots can flare up, causing some to fall with no warning.

Eternal Enmity: Chaos Undivided and the Emperor both feel a deep loathing for you and all you have touched.
    Inspiration: Matryoshka dolls

    And finally, who are you?

[X] Each player chooses a Core Name and appearance. These can be anything. Because this is the Warp and somewhere is everything. (This is where the Riot part starts.)

AN: Mechanics are set and will be revealed more fully as you encounter them. This is about setting your personal flavor and character for the quest.

Wouldn't that fit more with "The Men of Iron of Outpost B1V4T" instead?
Petey is an AI after all.

Who modeled himself into a god, made himself a flesh clone, and genuinely hates his creators in favor of an entirely different species and government. Despite keeping the appearance of his original creators entirely of his own will and other AI being willing to change theirs depending on the situation. Oh, and don't forget he's the reanimated husk of an older insane AI driven mad by the sheer improbability of it's own existence.

That's actually pretty Warpy to be honest!

I wouldn't exactly say he hates his originator species. Considering he went to great lengths to rehabilitate them. Sacrificing massive capital ships to prevent the death of just 1 of their soldiers, so that he could capture them all alive for some "stop being a space nazi" ideological deprogramming vacation (on a nice tropical beach)

Also, he willingly merged with a bunch of other AIs from a bunch of other species to form the fleetmind. So nowadays he is more like a collective of AIs. And they are even able to willingly withdraw from it as per Haban II

There's a lot there that could become it's own discussion, but some other thread.

For this thread, there is no right or wrong avatar, because things in the Warp are so mutable that you can be almost anything. Which is why the gods and other Warp denizens are concerned about Chaos, because they use that property for themselves, to turn Warp critters into mere extensions of themselves.

Again, literally anything can be an avatar.
