There's also the actually good SW Battlefront 1 and 2.

You know the ones you can still play 17 years after release and won't immediately die when the servers are turned off.

Here's another round of probably under $5 US games on Steam.

Super Hexagon. It's an arcade game, pretty nice. Also from the same developer as VVVVVV.

Fallout: New Vegas. Probably one of the better western RPGs around.

Huniepop. Pretty basic match-3 game, but with porn.

Plants Vs. Zombies. One of the all-time greatest tower defence games.

Mirror's Edge. Decent FPS parkour game.

shapez. Factory builder game. You make shapes and send them to the core to unlock new tools to make more shapes.

Donut Country. Short yet fun casual game. You move a hole around and send things into the void. The more things you send, the bigger your hole gets.

Got back into playing Let it Die. That's a... hmm, I think I'd describe it as a roguelike with a Suda 51 spin on bio- and dieselpunk. Basically you play a dude hanging out with Uncle Death in an arcade playing a beetle-powered game when you control corpses into climbing the Tower of Barbs.

Backstory is this: in the near future, an event called the "Earth Rage" causes the landmasses to merge into four continents. During all of this, South Tokyo seperated from Japan, and the ensuing crunch of landmass caused a tower to form from all these ruins. Some time later, people start infiltrating the Tower of Barbs in search of treasure inside these ruins. But decades of abandonment have caused the island to become flooded with the toxic spores of mutated mushrooms and filled with the crazed remains of uncautious treasure seekers. Still, people keep coming because the rumor that whoever makes it to the top of the tower will be granted one wish. However, the dangers and the four dons ruling ten flours each have stopped any would be climbers from getting up there.

    Until YOU came along.

In your opinion, what's the first? Though I will admit FNV is probably a bit overrated, but since it's not half-bad either, I feel safe recommending it.

Going to start playing Rune Factory 5, any tips are appreciated.

I am aware of the leveling system RF games have, looking for RF5 specific tips that would help out.

    FNV is 70% bad.

And the most overrated RPG of all time is FF7.

I'd present the counter argument that unlike FNV, FF7 actually does all of the things it promised and most of what it was praised for. I'd probably say that just off the top of my head, KOTOR II and both Divinity: Original Sin games are more over hyped in the RPG realm.

FF7 is definitely overdone but it at least earned most of it.

Rune Factory 5: How am I intended to get the fruit that's hanging off of trees in the world? The area's that aren't dungeons.

Also, how do I get corn seeds? Is there a certain quest or do I just have to wait for summer?

Ah, I use the Spell Seal to knock them down.

The guide forgets to add, for tree seeds, that you need a certain item equipped to be able to even have a chance of getting the tree seeds.

Started playing Celeste. Made the mistake of going back to find all the strawberries in Stage 1... and found myself on B-Side. Ouch. 99 Deaths. I did it though!

I did the second one with only 104. I got to the summit, but now I need to complete four of these to get into the next part, eugh. Or do those blue hearts count too? I haven't nabbed any of those.

Elden ring question: How do I deal with ancient dragons in farum azula? On the wiki it says they're weak to pierce physical damage, is it worth investing in a weapon specializing in that? As it is right now, I only deal 300 damage to the dragons. The most I've gotten the first dragon's health down to was a quarter.

Also, I'm very leery of upgrading my current weapons. They're at +11 right now and I could instantly bring one to +23 and the other to +20. I can handle the general enemies of tree area just fine with my weapons as they are (I usually do 700 damage a hit with power stance), but if I upgrade my weapons to be able to reasonably deal with the dragons ridiculous resistances, it'll be like my first playthrough where I curbstomp the vast majority of enemies and bosses a like.

It wasn't very satisfying to first try Maliketh in under a minute, so is there any way to deal with the dragons without getting ludicrously overpowered?

Yes I know, but I'm doing fine on enemies and bosses without high physical resistance. Know any quick peirce weapons?

    Any of the lances.

And, uh, you're complaining about a late game area having bosses with high resistances. Almost the last area period, frankly.

My problem with bosses with high resistances that don't have easy weaknesses is that by becoming powerful enough to overcome them you trivialize the rest of the end game. Again, my first Maliketh fight was disappointing, although...

    Huh.

I think Maliketh was the only one that got trivialed. Wait no. The Haligtree was still challenging, it's just that the actual end of the game was disappointingly easy. Godfrey, Radagon, Elden Beast...

    Hmm.

I guess I will upgrade now, just enough to defeat this dragon.

Started playing Scarlet Nexus. Definitely a game trying to be an anime, so there's that. The OP is pretty cool, at least.

Went with Kasane to start (it's got dual protagonists with the story from either viewpoint, I think) and I'm kinda digging her attitude. TL;DR: Something something post-apocalypse, with mutated monsters called "Others" that look like they came out of a PMMM Witch's barrier or Bayonetta angels- pretty grotesque, that is. You play as kids with psychic powers working for the (somewhat authoritarian so they may be the ultimate enemy, but considering the threat level presented by Others...) government to protect the city and exterminate Others. Kasane and her adopted elder sister Naomi (who's both shorter and weaker in multiple ways) get sorted into a squad with a genki telepath, a stoic older chad, a proud punk that thinks he's better than you, and an Ara Ara~ squad leader, and so far have faced one fairly deadly boss Other where they didn't expect it. Plot isn't kicking off just yet- though Kasane does run into the other protagonist.

Oh, and Naomi's into the male protag, so Kasane's very much doing her Big Sis investigation on whether he's good enough for her or not. Meanwhile, Kasane seems to have a thing for older men- specifically his squad leader.

I don't think I'm even through the tutorial yet, but the battle system so far... feels a bit clunky, but not bad. Kasane's power is Psychokinesis, so she uses 'knives' though they're more like shuriken, flying them around for basic attacks at mid-range, and chucking big shit lying around for long range. You can also temporarily take on the power of your other party members on a charge gauge for various effects. I'm feeling possible feature creep, but we'll see.

There is actually an anime tie in and there was a period where you could get rewards in game by finding codes in the show. I think it was a multi-media thing the devs wanted to do. I never actually got around to finishing the game (also started Kasane) but I actually really liked a lot of the story and I thought the setting was really interesting. Especially with the various twists you don't really see coming. You definitely aren't passed the tutorial yet (I think it's chapter 3 or 4, but you'll know tutorial is official over when you get to the freeway section) and you don't have to worry about feature creep. I think it's because of the dual protags that the SAS and Brain Drive/Field systems are pretty much the extent of it besides your upgrade trees, which just make the abilities you have better. You basically just have your combos, psychokinesis, and your teammates abilities to augment yours. Brain Drive is just a temporary boost and Brain Field is basically just an Ult. You'll know it when you see it because it's impossible to miss.

I think the most tedious thing for me was having to run around a few of the same areas a few times. There's a construction area I remember having to go through like 3 or 4 times, which was kind of annoying. You kind of get used to the combo system after a while and it becomes a little smoother once you get some points in the upgrade trees since you can chain for longer.

Kasane is definitely the superior protagonist. Yuito... he isn't exactly bad, but very vanilla. Ditto their teammates. Because yes, each protagonist has their own set of teammates. Yuito's teammates are all kind of generic, things you will have seen a hundred times before. The childhood friend that has a secret crush on him. The quiet, shy girl. The experienced veteran thinking of retiring. Meanwhile, Kasane's teammates are all various forms of dysfunctional and it makes their dynamic so much better. The idol who is secretly super lazy and hates paparazzi. The spy/assassin who trolls everyone. A shitty senpai that has a huge chip on his shoulder and inferiority complex.
