      Happened to stumble upon your 'Has China Had State Atheism For 2000 Years' thread by accident, due to rarely trafficing that part of the forum, and I've gotta say, there's some real classic SB-level mindfucks going on in that thread. Like 'So I think you could make the case from a certain POV that worshippers of the nordic gods were atheistic in some sense.' Boy, that was fucking something.

        No kidding. Funnily enough it made me think of a mashup of that Richard Dawkins quote and that one speech from Picard to Q 'What Shakespeare/Dawkins said with irony I'll say with conviction: We are all atheists, some just go one god further.' What made it all stand out even more was that I had just been wiki-diving imperial religious practices and artifacts in China just the other day.

        I think one of the best takes was when they brought up "Journey to the West" and claimed that was atheist because Tripitaka was "In charge" of the rest of the group. Sort of ignoring all the times various gods and such came to help him.
