[RWBY] RWBY Shorts

At some point AI will get good enough that truly autistic fans will be able to redo their favorite TV shows that were turned into utter garbage.

Me? I'd redo RWBY with more volumes at Beacon, make Pyrrha's death actually mean something, not have Ironwood turn fascist, not have Adam turn simp, and have the Ever After actually mean something with as satisfying an end as I could manage. I'd keep the romance light and hinted at, no firm end couples save for Ren and Nora. But no fucking Bumblebee, that's for sure. And a lot of other changes.

I'd need someone to keep my ADHD ass from adding endless subplots but I'd make it into something worthy of Monty.

I'd probably spin off Shar'Vel into its own thing pulling some future plot points from Sons Revalations and create an original series.

It honestly looks possible. Effectively your "Legally distinct RWBY with the serial filed off."

Same for me. I just need to know where to start with the idea. What story do I base it off of?

So I was thinking about cross posting everything I wrote on the SB thread that got thread marked over here, but my QQ name is different from the one I used on SB, so I don't know how that would work, or if it would matter.

My SB name is Dark Knight Zero in case anyone is wondering.
It won't matter, you can easily grab whatever you posted over there and bring it here.

Well you'd probably have to change the setting a bit and make clear what the tech level is.

Honestly given your proclivity for producing military vehicles, scrap the idea that hunters are civilian free agents and that they're part of the army that hunts monsters.

You can make them a sort of Elite Shock Troop school to keep the whole aethstetic of Hunters and their eccentric weapons and unique combat style. Perhaps some joint international initiative if you want to let diverse nationalities clash.

Now are you sticking with shadow monsters or are we going with classic horror beasts? Perhaps instead you may want to rip open a portal to hell and these are literal demons and devils coming through. Basically do what Trench Crusade refuses to do.

Or the beasties are literal "Others" from outside space. Humanity has no idea what they are or what they want but their presence has been detrimental so they must be destroyed.

Probably keep them as Paramilitary and Freelancers-The world is too big to rely only on the military when these monsters are everywhere. As for them?

I'd use the revised Fable for it: Not Salem used her magic to try and bring Not Ozma back to life... And it unleashed the monsters upon humanity, a plague of darkness.

Original sin out of love and an inability to let go.

Fantastic. Now are we keeping ourselves limited to one planet or are we going interstellar? And what's the limitations on that?

One planet, keep it simple. Like Monty I want to take inspiration from anime and JRPGs and keep it to a one world epic adventure.

Though an adventure in space or on the moon not out of the question.

Okay, so here's a question about RWBY that I've never been able to get a straight answer to: why did the whole Jaune pursuing Weiss storyline feel so out of left field, almost as if it had been crammed into the story?

The strangest part is that the moment the show had the opportunity to move past it, it seemed to forget about the whole thing entirely. It was never really developed into anything meaningful, to the point where even a lot of the good fanfic concepts I've come across either abandon the idea altogether or treat it as a one-off joke before moving on.

I've always wondered what the point of that storyline was supposed to be, especially when it feels so disconnected from Jaune and Weiss's later character evolution i will not use development. Was it just an early attempt at comedy, or was there originally supposed to be something more to it?

It wasn't meant to be a storyline, it was meant to be a running gag. It ties into the story by demonstrating that Jaune is useless, pathetic, and ineffectual.

He hears just enough of Weiss' sarcasm to mistake it for real affection and acts like every middle/high school teenager who has only ever heard about relationships second or third hand (aside from the one that his mother and father are in, obviously)

From that point he acts entirely in character with the loser-y self that he established in his first conversation with Ruby because he thinks that somehow it is what will get him laid (a parallel with Neptune that makes the latter look a tad more serious).

So they need to make him look like an ass (and useless) but they cannot make him look unsympathetic or unlikable. So, the solution is to turn it into a running joke about Jaune being a hopeless romantic failure riding the slow pony to the Forever Alone Forest.

It has next to no bearing on the story and it is just there to be a backup joke at Jaune's expense. A sort of space-taker where Jaune - in his useless punchline phase (therefore this will change after Beacon) - is in character doing exactly that. It pretty much existed for cheap ha-ha moments that consist of Weiss slamming a door on Jaune's face, landing on top of him and commenting about landing in a landfill, or inadvertently splashing him with something - though I do not believe they ever made it as far as that bit.

CRWBY just executed on that with their usual level of skill and ended up giving a lot of people nebulous impression that it was supposed to somehow matter.

It was just a running gag, or an attempt at one at any rate.

Then, they wrote the script for V9 (so well after they stopped giving a shit about RWBY), and decided to reference the joke by having Jaune grow up into Weiss' ideal man (who is interestingly the exact opposite of what he was at Beacon - go figure) who she (as Weiss is the useless punchline character of V9) can draw clicks by reacting to in an over-the-top manner. It would also make the fact that Bumblebee was never planned and was just a last-ditch attempt to keep their dying cash-cow on life support.

I've always been a fan of 'if they survive initiation they are allowed in' school of thought. Beacon is a death world they aren't very picky in who is allowed. And besides if two foreign homeless orphans refugees can get in then the requirements for a transcript can't be that big. And similarly if you survive to graduation you are a huntsman. Ultimately most of the classes aren't really important to graduation, they are important to survival. You can sleep through every exam so long at you complete your missions and prove you can do the job no one could care less if you can do trig. Of course they will assign teams who are failing specific courses missions that will highlight the price of that failure.

On a completely different topic, a better use for Jaune is to make him more like the historical Joan D'Arc. Instead of him being the hero who slays the monster he's the hero who inspires the common people to fight.
See Joan wasn't actually a brilliant strategist or a miracle worker. Instead she was able to inspire the French to actually fight. France should have been able to win the 100 years war easily, they had more people and were fighting an enemy based on island across a straight. England was only able to keep winning because of several very lucky fights and very clever alliances with French vassals. When Joan showed up the disparity between the perceived balance of power and actual was at it's highest, the French people thought the war was lost. Jean helped to rally them to fight on and thus use their numerical and technological superiority. Most of her plans were just charge the enemy and don't give up.

Jaune could have been doing something similar. He dreamt of being a hero by killing Grimm and saving people. After the Fall he is broken at how he couldn't save his partner. But he doesn't give up, he keeps fighting and pulls exactly what Salem spends the first 3 volumes afraid of, he is able to convince the average person they can fight the Grimm.

It even comes with the added angst that the people he leads into battle are going to be weaker than hunters and die in larger numbers. And he's responsible for that.

This would be a good post-beacon angle to go for with Jaune, and as it further affirms the pointlessness of the Jaundice arc by undercutting the ramifications of Jaune's fraud, it has my further approval.

In addition, it gives us a way to get Jaune out of the main story's way. Jaune can rebuild Vale (taking Nora and Ren with him) while I can focus on Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang, and the plot.

It may come as a shock to you, but I was rather frustrated by CRWBY for promising to tell my Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang's story, and then, when the time came to deliver on that promise, they (without consulting me, soliciting my opinion, or asking my permission) chose to tell me Jaune's story instead, and tell it poorly.

I do not like being cheated, duped, or lied to ergo, I am skeptical even of things that are of like value to that which I am promised when they are incongruous. That is to say nothing of things that turn out worse. And I believe quality - whether something is good or bad - is objective rather than subjective. Beauty and excellence are what inform and define preference, not the other way around.

Count now in the mood for White Knight.

But aside from that, I want to hear your particular rationale here.

And the team I would work with would probably have Whitley in place of Weiss.

Original Character Do Steal: Francine Prelati New
It won't matter, you can easily grab whatever you posted over there and bring it here.
In that case, here's the First Threadmark:
Idea I had for an OC villian not part of Salem's Faction.

Name: Francine Prelati

Allusion: Francois Prelati and the Biblical Serpent in the Garden of Eden

Appearance: A well-endowed Brunette woman of Atlasien Nobility. Wears Blue colored contacts to hide that she's actually a Snake Faunus. Changes outfits depending on the current fashion trends.

Emblem: A blue stylized demon holding a book.

Semblance: Temptation. Enhanced Charisma that allows her to subtly manipulate others into giving in to their darker urges and descend into depravity. Has no effect on those with strong willpower, but is twice as strong on those who are weak willed or at the lowest point of their life. This is how she turned her old friend Jillian into a monstrous killer.

Weapons: Fighting is not her strong suite, and will try to avoid it when she can, but when forced into it she uses a poisoned Dagger and Rapier named Subtlety and Misdirection. The dagger, Subtlety, is coated in a deadly toxin while the Rapier, Misdirection, is coated in a powerful hallucinogen.

I'm having trouble thinking of what to add, and I mostly came up with this as while we have a genderbent Joan of Arc in Jaune, we don't have her friend turned monster Giles or his partner Francois.

Original Character Do Steal: Bluebeard New
Here's the Second Threadmark from SB:

An idea I had for an OC serial killer to serve as a Villain and world building.

Name: Bluebeard

Sigil: A Headless Puppet

Inspirations: Bluebeard, Arlecchino the Blood Artist.

Semblance: Blood Manipulation. By making gestures with his hands like a composer, Bluebeard can control the blood of his victims. Such as causing the targets blood too violently burst or explode, resulting in dismemberment or even decapitation. Having an Awakened Aura severely weakens the effects, allowing the target to fight back.

Origins: Dr. Merlot had acquired the corpse of a Death Row Inmate and a Geist. Through experimentation with his Mutagen, Merlot had created a mutated Geist that was capable of possessing Flesh and Blood creatures. However upon taking control of the Corpse of the Death Row Inmate, it was unable to leave the corpse, resulting in a permanent possession. Stuck in the body, the Geist had begun to experience the memories of the dead Inmate. Soon the Inmate's Ego began to overwrite the Geist. The Geist had replaced the Soul that left the body, and Bluebeard had returned to life. Escaping from Merlot's Lab, Bluebeard set in motion the events that began the Fall of Mount Glenn.

Appearance: Bluebeard has Blue hair and his Signature blue beard from which he gets his name. He has a Corpselike Pallor and bone spikes which he hides by wearing oversized clothing, and a Geist mask dead center in his chest that serves as a replacement for his heart.

Personality: Bluebeard is sick in the head, made even worse by turning into a Grimm Zombie. He takes the severed heads of his victims as trophies and locks them away in his lair, and has become obsessed with Penny Polendina upon learning of her mechanical nature and lack of blood.

Weapons: An unnamed Longsword and Grimm Claws.

Some random prompts:

-Adam is sick of Blake mooning over him. Even when she leaves she just keeps sending him melodramatic love letters. He then hits on an idea: Get Blake obsessed with someone else! Then she'll leave him alone!

-Ruby gets a message from the future. In short: Do not let Yang and Blake hook up or the universe (show) will end. So she goes all in!

-SSSN were originally meant to be love interests for RWBY. Only Sun and Neptune were used. So, let's take off from there: How do we make Neptune worthy of Weiss' love?

I think the more interesting question there is "how do we fill out scarlet and sage to make them appeal to the Rose-Long sisters" to make that prompt work.

Because while I disagree with Count somewhat on -NPR being there to camouflage Jaune, it absolutely applies to SSSN.

Yeah but I like Lancaster and Dragonslayer wayyy too much to go that far. You guys have fun though.

How would blake feel if she finds out that the SDC overseer that give Adam is branding was a Faunus and the other overseers that ran the most brutal Mining operations were other faunus.
