Yeah, that was always an annoying thing about DC. In one comic series Dick and Babs will be loving, monogamous, and amorous, in another series, also post crisis new earth, set in the same time, Dick will be sleeping with someone else, everyone else, and Babs will be with the private detective guy whatshisface. Holy run on sentence Batman!

And there wasn't any editorial reason for it, just the writer of that arc in another series wanted Dick to be dicking someone else.

 

Welcome to comic books, new writers always want to do away with things the old one's did so they can tell their own stories.

The more appropriate analogy would be Batman marrying Wonder Woman for a few years, breaking up and then marrying Catwomen, which would count as serial monogamy I’m pretty sure. Your example would not count though. Although this is all a metaphor for Batmans apprentice/sidekick relationships (unless I’m horribly misreading the conversation), so I can’t really say whether he’s canonically a serial monogamist or not with my pitiful comic book knowledge.

Edit: Going by Zoat’s response, I did indeed horribly misread the conversation (I had no idea Batman actually had romantic relationships). Ignore me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

Batman is married to his job. Everything else is affairs.

 

I'm not making any kind of moral judgement here, I'm just saying that unless he's repeatedly dating both during the same time period that fact that the delay between the end of one relationship and the begining of a new one isn't very long doesn't necessarily mean that he isn't being monogomous.

 

The Cartoon great fanfic, great fan art and Nightstar are why I ship them so strongly.

 

I am quite sure that at some point he didn't stop seeing Catwoman while he was with Talia.

But that may have been either me imagining things or some new 52 or past that thing.

 

I don't remember Batman being in a relationship with Talia, whatever was going on in her head. Generally speaking, when a crazy cultist starts calling you 'beloved' and rapes you, that's not a relationship.
