[] Passionate and demanding - shonen protag/seijuro hiko, raises people who do rather than think. Also may potentially enjoy beating you up.
[] Down-to-earth and practical - apprentice student as the unpaid intern route. Not sure if they're teaching you or just using you to do their chores.
[] Righteous and stern - Ironically the Generic xianxia teacher route, usually gets surpassed or killed off early so the student moves onto better teachers
[] Compassionate and gentle - Uncle iroh. Makes you feel like kicking a puppy. Actually can't think of a downside to this type of teacher. Almost universally very good.
[] Creative and eccentric - The hobo who aren't around except when you need help against your destined rival or something. Don't expect them to be around to save you.

You;re only really looking skin deep, and making some assumptions. The teaching styles of the protagonist's master do not matter. I can't find a reason they matter. All of the teachers can teach unique skills suitable to that specific teacher the protagonist will acquire, and are strong, that's what matters..You've also forgotten that each of the masters is supposed to have a skeleton in the closet as a downside of choosing them. Their bios do not make the skeleton appear obvious.

The intellectual and patient master is about the worst pick in my mind because that one has divination as a specialist. I'd prefer the cool geomancy and artifact-crafting abilities. Practically the muscle-head version of magic with that combo.

These seem to be very important for progress.
 
So, even though it's probably way too late in the voting cycle to accomplish anything, I'll try to expand on why running only 5 or 6 constitution with our looks is kinda not great.

People mentioned how that kinda thing can be used to catch people off guard or whatever, but quite frankly there's a significant difference between hiding your strengths and pretending to have strengths that you don't.
Cause once the cat is out of the bag, second is going to be part of our reputation and it's not going to add to it.

And more than that, that kinda ruse needs to have at least anything at all backing it up to actually work out.
It's relatively simple to deceive people if you look like an absentminded vagrant, cause even if they know what you're about, they're liable to just straight underestimate you.
But you can't pretend to be a muscle wizard with a 5 in Constitution. You're never going to hide that actually, you're basically a wet tissue paper and your 10 in Comprehension is what you earn your meals with, especially not since you're going to have a reputation and that's never going to be "punch god".

But if you buff Constitution to 7 and your Comprehension to 9?
You can reasonably pull off pretending to only be a respectable physical talent with above average smarts and then blindside them by dismantling their Thousand Orchid Formation with one superbly well placed punch.

Leingod how hard is it to raise stats after game starts? IIRC normally in xianxia stories con is the easiest stat to raise, luck or comprehension are the hardest

Definitely never more than a point or two per Realm at most, since you're starting at 30 out of 40 anyway.

That said, at the end of character creation there'll be one last choice for a plan vote where you can suggest any last-minute tweaks to your build before things get started in earnest, so if enough of you want to go back and change something once this is all laid out that can happen.

Thanks. also how do the stats compare? is a score of 10 in a stat twice as much as 5?

We're already at the upper end of comprehension, and our constitution needs to be shored up, both for QoL purposes and for our reputation.

Although, Leingod, could you please add a character sheet or at least what our character is, stat-wise?
 
Its been a year and we are still in character creation. God, why not just combine the rest of the decisions in a single chapter.

The opening post was June 4, 2020.

I'm pretty sure that means it's been only 3 weeks, unless we crossed into 2021 when I wasn't looking.

Too bad the appearance vote was way before our vote on stats. This kinda goes to show one of the greatest weaknesses of forum based quests. We're all pulling things in different directions and as more people come in as chargen happens we keep distorting the vision of how things should be.

This type of teacher provides a good explanation for why a scholar has a beefy body, a deeper reason than its value in deception or for amusement at the juxtaposition. It shows affection for our master and pride in the body they helped us build. Not to mention, it means we'll learn that in depth body-building knowledge, and can use it to build up our own students. Plus, our highest stat before adding these extra points is resolve, which is mainly used in xianxia to let the protagonist willpower his way through incredibly painful body cultivation techniques that no one else has the balls to take to their ultimate stage.

Also, I sort of hope taking this master will lead to an extra point in constitution.
