On Spacebattles and Mod Presence

I was going through some Old threads and content over on SB(and sorta SV) And I've realized that in the last Few years that I barely even interact with the forums anymore for fear of saying the wrong thing and getting banned/infracted for things that once would've never even phased anyone.

I've gone Full on Lurker and I hate that. I barely interact with people enough as it is, and having to be so PC with every post I make is just grating.

Without getting into RL stuff, I understand the need for the forum to better police content to avoid legal issues and such. I just feel that there is to much damn politics going on for what was once a nice place to anonymously post content and interact with people and their stories without having to deal with the bullshit that is Chan, or the upgraded form that is Reddit.

I'm aware that many of the mods here and there are all the same people, but Doesn't anyone else agree with me in that there is just way to much Mod intervention in threads? There are entire story threads that have to have their own separate Mod posting categories and influence just to be allowed.

Sure it's to prevent certain type of stories involving minors, but by that same design, I've literally read what amounted to literotica on the site with no real content filter and a solid okay from a moderator.

Sure, I know I'm just bitching about things that are already well and fully implemented. But I'd like to think I'm not the only one totally turned off by this change in things.

 

QQ is mostly independent of SV and SB, staff-wise. SB and SV mods do sometimes visit here in their (semi-)official capacity, but we don't share staffs with them.

There were some overlaps between SB and SV staffs, but as time goes on, the amount dwindled. I think there's less than a handful of people that's both SB and SV mods nowadays.

 

Oh yeah. It's gotten tricky to comment on even a lot of story threads, let alone write original content. They're slowly strangling themselves and it's scary how many people get banned or suspended now. Especially for weird stuff, like an OP "derailing" their own thread! Normally I would say that you could just stick to compliments and facts and be safe, but that's not even true anymore because (as you pointed out) some threads now have special rules unilaterally imposed upon them by the mods.

DEFUND THE MODS! (of SV and SB)

Yeah, some threads don't even allow simple barebones complimenting/praise.
If it ain't full on fleshed out commentary it's not allowed for being to "chan"

 

I have seen comments where even that will get people tagged.

 

i've seen people get infractions for "chanposting" for not have text with their post.

They were posting fanart for in a general thread for an anime.

 

In my experience, mods on SB have a big habit of abusing their power, flaunting their own rules and blatant favouritism.
